  1. Was intrigued by the Carden pick. The write up says he's Favre like with his gunslinger mentality. (great - just what we need...?. Watched some video on him and he's got an ugly release. Kinda looks like Bernie Kosarish. Oh well, since Pace picked him he might have a better chance to make the roster than Fales. I guess this will be the flyer.
  2. Still no QB? Hmmm... Like the TE add.
  3. I don't see this as argument. Or really a disagreement. Because essentially we agree minus a few points. I'll give you that between Emery the Ass and Pace the new kid, I like Pace hands down. Whether he's worth his weight long term, and this draft means anything, still remains to be seen.
  4. You're missing the point. That being, just because he's made "smart picks" doesn't necessarily mean they are. All they've done is do well in college. That doesn't always translate to long term success. See Gabe Carimi and Chris Williams for the projected 1st round talent to prove otherwise. And to say we've always drafted poorly is a bit of a stretch. Especially when you still have 13 drafted players on the team, most of which WILL play next year and probably beyond. I'm right there with you that this feels different (better). Im just not AS giddy as you.
  5. Right, nor have any of the three drafted yesterday or today. But of the list I provided, almost all (save Vereen and Washington and maybe Wilson) have a very good possibility in contributing to the team long term. Except also of course Briggs and Tillman.
  6. You're letting the giddiness of these drafts get the best of you. Yes its possible that all three of these guys end up being HOF'ers. A lot has yet to be seen. What we do know of the last number of drafts of who we did get: Kyle Long, Kyle Fuller, Alshon Jeffery, Matt Forte, KaDeem Carey, Marquess Wilson, Will Sutton, Ego Ferguson, Cornelius Washington, Brock Vereen, Jon Bostic, Lance Briggs, Charles Tillman all came through our team's draft. Most of these guys are either still with the team and/or had pretty successful careers after being drafted. So let's not get ahead of ourselves.
  7. I'll give you props on the Grass pick but let's not get carried away.
  8. Are either a QB because I believe Pace said he believed in drafting a QB every year didn't he?
  9. I can't believe we're agreeing again. Jason made a case for this guy some time ago and one of the things I like about him, besides his leadership capabilities, is his familiarity with Kyle Long. Should help in the long term aspect of the line in their knowing each other already and how the other works. Definitely ok with him being drafted in the 3rd and given his rather high rating, this was almost what you call a BPA.
  10. At 218? Unlikely.... Maybe his best hope is to evade them. Might as well line him up at LB, that's where he'll end up being pushed to. * Edit: This article lists him as 320 which looking at his picture, makes more sense. http://www.tallahassee.com/story/sports/co...draft/21697401/ And since Dick Butkus likes the pick, so do I. Although I don't know much about him. Only 27 starts. that could be a good and a bad thing.
  11. Not sure why you would say that. You and I have approached our thoughts on Cutler in similar fashion and although I'm not a fan of Cutler's I'm still in it to win it. I can't blame what Pace has to deal with in Cutler mostly due to his contract. And whether he (Pace) had it in the works to trade him away we'll never really know. He seems like a smart kid and will do what's in the teams best interest. Heck he played at Eastern Illinois so he almost is forced to be a Bears fan. At any rate, I think with Cutler as QB this year, if in fact they decide to stay with him, he'll have no more excuses to be an f-up. Fox is not Trestman and will pull the plug when the time comes (I predict it will be soon in the season). Believe me when I say that I've thought many times to change my allegiance, especially after Lovie was fired, but realized I bleed Orange and Blue. And despite the last couple years of futility and the lesion remaining, namely Cutler, I'm still convinced the antibiotics known as Pace and Fox will get things on the right track. Think more after that hangover has worn off. You'll feel better about it.
  12. Yep...what a bummer. Giants made a trade to get him so he was highly regarded. C'est la vie.
  13. Have to consider what Charles Leno, who was drafted in the 7th last year, can contribute. Not that its saying much he was designated with "All MWC" honors twice in his career with Boise State. (Darryn Colledge and Ryan Clady are both products of Boise St by the by). Haven't seen him play too much. AND have to consider it was Trestman and Kromer evaluating O talent the last couple years. And on the other side you have Brock Vereen who actually did play last year and didn't show much. But also had Mel Tucker running the show. When it comes down to it, I feel you have to look at what you got and what you need. There is no question the D needs all the help it can get, more so than the O. And when you're weighing the need at OT vs Safety, safety wins. Especially long term.
  14. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. I see why Pace is a huge fan. Looking forward to seeing what he does with AJ. Should be exciting!!!!
  15. I was actually looking to see if there was video of White and our last year's #1 Fuller matched up. Alas, no luck. Probably because White didn't get to play a lot at D1.
  16. Not sure how Gregory will pan out with the NFL. He seems to not be able to stay away from the MJ. And with the NFL and their restrictive nature on it I can see him eventually spending more time suspended than playing in the long run. I'm with Jason that the better pick would probably be Collins. I think to get a young and effective player in this position is more important for the long term health of the team. Think Mike Brown important. With the help of vets like Rolle guiding him, I suspect he'll be an eventual star for the Bears.
  17. That sucks. Would've been cool to have him on the team. Was watching the presser from Pace about the White pick. It's quite apparent to me that Pace has his head on straight. He knows all he needs to know not only about White but how he's going to compliment the team. He (Pace) has a great energy that I think could prove infectious. He and Fox together make a great duo. Where I felt the 'sleaze' effect from Emery (similar to a used car dealer) I feel more confident with Pace. My prediction is he'll get a QB round 2 or 3. I hope at this point Collins is there at round 2.
  18. Agreed. Must be a reason he's not been picked yet.
  19. Wow, look at you and me agreeing to something. Must be something wrong with this pick.
  20. White is a decent pick. He's definitely BPA just like what Pace said he'd do. Now if they can find a QB that can throw to him and not the guy covering him, the Bears will be golden.
  21. I'm one who is good with not getting Williams. Glad to see it. Too much for a lineman... Collins is still available.
  22. I'm ok with this. Sounds like there is some serious wheeling and dealing going on. If it's meant to be, it'll happen. Thankfully Lovie came through and took Winston off the board.
  23. Yes thank you for clarifying. I was almost going to label you insane.
  24. Although I'm not a huge fan of Maiotta's I'm lesser of Cutler's, especially the amount of money he costs...and he just turned 32...and he hasn't proven anything worthy of his contract....despite all the OC's/Coaches he's played for...and all the catering he's had thus far....yadda yadda The porous OL you always talk about is something, in your opinion, that never goes away. But just two years ago, when they managed to stay healthy, they didn't do all that bad. I'd rather not re-tread that path. Realistically though, in a 1st round such as this year's, can you make more difference in drafting a top notch OLman or a blue chip prospect like Mariotta? While getting rid of a money laden "non-franchise QB" in Cutler? But before I commit myself to this argument, I would contend that there are other lesser-known QB's in the draft (Hundley, Petty, Grayson) who could be just as intriguing to replace Cutler. I'm not sure the argument could be made there are numerous holes in the defense to fill with all the prospective FA's that were signed and not a few of them possibly sticking. Like the OL, I don't see one player in the draft making that much an impact. Unless its at Safety where I think Collins could be a huge long term difference maker. I wouldn't deem it "insane" an idea, just not probable...unfortunately.
