  1. Yeah they could use one more OLman. Especially with Mills' fall off from last year and mystery injury this year. One too many QBs and probably RBs. Not sold on all four of the safeties they chose . Outside of Vereen and Mundy I'm not convinced the team has much depth. Oh well...
  2. Should add Duke Ihenacho ( just repeating my earlier post) And Michael Sam. I'm intrigued by Angerer but it appears after 2011 or '12 when he broke onto the scene he faded quick. Hasn't done a lot since . And wasn't Manning a hated addition from the evil empire of Lovie and Jerry? Why consider he or Wright? Disappointed in seeing Bellamy go. Must mean they're not IRing Wilson.
  3. Hmm... ??? Plays SS and was expendable because of the addition of TJ Ward. Young player with lots of upside. I'd be looking at him if I were in Bears mgmt. What you think? Terra? http://www.milehighreport.com/2014/8/30/60...ved-safety-duke
  4. So much for the Bills getting the upper edge in week 1 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/...-brian-moorman/
  5. I personally would only consider it if it meant a straight 'trade out' for position. In this case if Draughn were to make the final 53 then cut him to make room for BGE. I'm not overly impressed with Draughn but understand the need for at least three RBs on the roster.
  6. This idea I like very much. I hope it's plural for IR because TE Zachary Miller is already there and he too is another keeper. Provided he can overcome the injury bug. *Edit* I wasn't suggesting Fales wasn't good. He didn't do bad. Really he did better than that douchebag Manziel who was a 1st round pick. His mechanics are a bit flawed but probably can be worked out - as a practice roster player. All things considered (to include what you said) his position isn't really one of 'need' right now. There are more issues in other places; ST, Def WR etc. **edit/edit** Just read that teams can only use the IR with plan to return (or however you say it) once per year. There are no multiple designations in that regard. So if that be the case, if looks like Miller is done for the year and possibly Wilson could come back later this year. Depending on what they do with him. And lessening the chance of both Bellamy and Morgan both making the team.
  7. I was actually thinking exactly the same. Both Morgan and Bellamy performed pretty equally throughout the preseason. I noticed Morgan wasn't dressed to play so I assumed he was 'in'. With the possibility of 6 WRs on the roster couldn't both make it?
  8. Should be filled by Bellamy and Holmes. Bellamy has shown flashes of 'good' and was consistent in tonight's game. Although Holmes dropped his first two he came back with a nice TD and then a decent ( not awesome) PR. Since Holmes is a low cost low risk signing he more than qualifies for a spot especially with being able to do returns. The Bears should carry two QBs into week 1. I think Fales should be put on the practice squad or cut all together. His release is really ugly and obviously needs a lot of work. At least his accuracy was better than 'Lamezel'.
  9. I'd add Jennings. He's been to a pro bowl each of the last two years. Two years ago he led the league in INTs. And despite all this agreed to play nickel back if Fuller was the opposite corner to Peanut. Seems to be a good player and character. But yeah, Peanut is no doubt "the man".
  10. So that answers the question of who you will direct your attention now that Jason has left your life.
  11. Meh. Much ado about nothing. Like Cutler said they "still have to defend it". Trestmans not an idiot and will adjust accordingly. I've never bought into the idea of signing a player in the hopes of getting trade secrets. If that were true every team that signs a NE castoff would be in the playoffs.
  12. I get the impression that DBs (especially safety play) is your forte. You comment on it quite frequently. The type of player you describe in Thomas sounds like Adrian Wilson. Unfortunately Wilson appears to be past his prime as much as I wished he could have done better. Anyone currently on the team capable of being a worthy safety? Obviously Conte is out but what about a few of the remaining members of the team? How about potential FAs that might be worth their weight? You think Peanut would make a good safety? I think FS would be more to his style but I know he has no interest. What about Fuller? I'm with Connor in that I think Mundy hasn't been horrible. Not that it's a rousing endorsement. But maybe he'd be better with a competent counterpart?
  13. Another lull in activity. Consider it filler.... ha ha. Maybe a discussion about the new ESPN Monday Night Football teaser? Pretty good stuff called "tunnel". Features Marshall.
  14. I think all this racist back and forth has no place here. Whether it happened of not is obviously up for contention. But the fact it's become a main point of discord here is wrong. If you guys (Terra and NYC) want to discuss racial tension there are many other places that will host that type of stuff. This is not the place for it. Civil unrest is prevelant just about anywhere you go. It doesn't take much to find a place where it's occuring nor talent to start another fight. Genocide, famine, and outright poverty is happening globally as we speak yet here in the 'Western World' we find new ways to tear ourselves apart . I'm not a big fan of these kumbaya moments we seem to encounter here (at this site)every few months but suffice to say despite all the differences we all have one goal. That is to cheer on our team and hope (with fingers crossed and knocking on wood) that well have a good year. Despite Tucker, Cutler or anyone's else's best efforts. Bear down fellas.
  15. Not to make light but I hope we never have to find out if Tucker will be a good OC. We know he's bad at DC.
  16. I think actually he was referring to Lovie... Nevertheless. I would hope Terra wasn't drawing that parallel. I'd hate to think anyone would harbor that type of prejudice. Let alone a fellow Bears fan.
  17. That actually was one of the more sensible things you've ever said. You're right, there is no way around the fact that our team will be playing it's 97th season and that in it's own right is something to get excited about. I admire the optimism. The roller coaster you mention is one reason they created alcohol. Cheers.
  18. So get ready to disown me Stinger. Cutler sucks. Chicago paid for 7 more years of this mediocrity? I would've easily preferred a 1-2 year incentive laden deal for McCown over Cutler at this point. I know it's the preseason. But geez, this was supposed to be the "dress rehearsal". Apparently they were practicing the wrong script. Cutler was flinging it like he's been doing for the last 4-5 years (or a monkey flings poo). Hoping his team will somehow miraculously catch the ball despite all the defenders surrounding them. I wouldn't be as concerned had I not seen the previous two games. I know the Bears won those but the backups won those games, not the starters. In both previous games the Bears were behind but were able to come back and win with Palmer and Clausen chucking it to the no-names of the third string. Defense? Didn't Chicago once be revered for its "Monsters of The Midway?" The look more the "My Little Pony Cavalcade and Emporioum." Not because they can't do it but because they have inept leadership in the form of Mel Tucker. I like Trestman. He's starting to grow on me. But if this horse manure show continues on he'll be getting shown the exit sooner than he deserves. The only consolation I have from tonight's performance was that the number 1 offense (Denver) was beaten worse a few months ago by this same team. Since our team was #2 and considering that fact, it wasnt really that bad... Right?
  19. They have youth; SMC, Bostic, Greene, Fuller, Vereen, Young, Ferguson, Sutton etc. Problem is they got no damn coordinator.
  20. Interesting points made in the article. Especially how not all that great the O-line was overall. Both tackles (Bushrod and Mills) were listed as concerns. And according to the article Long was a "slight upgrade" over Rachal and Spencer from the year before. Despite he being chosen for a Pro Bowl. Yet, according to the article, both Garza and Slauson graded out better and neither was chosen for the Pro Bowl. I agree that I'm not nearly as concerned with the backup RB play. Both Draughn and Carey have shown promise. I think it safe to say that either will be capable as a third down back should it be necessary. Nice thing is that Forte is pretty durable and plays despite maybe battling injury (from two years ago?). The linebackers will be a concern, as a whole. I still lack confidence in Williams' ability in staying on the field and have yet to see him do anything noteworthy when he is. Briggs will produce but he's in the twilight of his career. Bostic is imporviing but he's not "there" yet. And IMHO if anyone has shown some improvement its McCLellin. I have to say in watching the re-broadcast of the game against Jax he was involved in most plays and seemed to be in the right place, most of the time. Will this translate to effective play against Seattle this week? Remains to be seen. The fact that not one player stands out enough to carry the rest of the group concerns me personally. In the safety area I really want to see Wilson and Vereen get the start. Not sure either will be able but I've got my fingers crossed. With the potential of Wilson's leadership and ability to recognize where he needs to be (and his stout run defense) I think Vereen could gain gobs of experience points. I'm in no way shape or form convinced that Conte is capable of holding his position at Safety. Especially after having off season shoulder surgery. I think a lot will be learned after the Seattle game. And to his credit Kromer paraphrased it best. If we do good great, if we don't we have time to fix it before the regular season.
  21. Obviously there are some unknowns yet to be determined with Holmes but I think you're right. That list seems pretty close to how I see it too. As much as a fan I'm not of Morgan's , he looked especially good in the last game against Jax. I will be interested to see how he does against Seattle, as I hope to see with good things with Holmes. I'm still intrigued by Edwards but his time is running out and so far has done little to make an impression. The return spot is still up in the air with the new signee Reynaud and Williams as probably front runners.
  22. Didn't Doug Flutie kick too? Check out #10 on this list. And was number 6 during Trestman' s tenure? Hmmm...
  23. Why do I get this feeling Bennett is going to get into another scuffle?
  24. So was watching an episode of "First Take" with Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless and they talked about a possibility of Brandon doing a part time gig. From what I understand BM will be taping segments of 'Inside the NFL' every week on his off day. In order to do that he'll take a charter jet from Chicago to NY each week. Could this be a problem later in the year? Link to a story of it: http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/bears-wr-b...de-the-nfl.html
