Oh no I will always watch the team. Although I considered turning off the game yesterday I didn't. Been through too many years not to. I just don't get that 'warm fuzzy' with Cutler out there. If he could play consistently good, I'd feel much better. And you're right the D didn't help. Used to be, not all that long ago, no matter how crappy our O played the team could be bailed by ST and or O. However the cylinders weren't firing. The D the previous two weeks wasn't the same yesterday.

Thanks for the encouragement. I deal in pragmatism. I could be wrong but you might deal more in theoretical thinking of even fantasy if you're suggesting Cutler is "the one". He has so far done little to prove me wrong. Regardless of yours, or anyone else's dislike, I'm here for the long haul.

Don't completely discount Minnesota. If his injury isn't long term, Bridgewater could prove to be something special.

Funny, Lovie would manage a game very similar and people wanted him gone. Trestman hasn't had a great game management record thus far . Of course he's handicapped with Cutler but maybe with a new QB he'll get a fresh start. P.S. They better keep Willie Young whatever they do.

Maybe then they'll have a capable QB in the offense. And a defensive coordinator. I've tried everything. Even hoping my negativity would be proven moot. I figured at some point he'd come through for our team. But he's proven himself incapable time and again to come through during clutch. You can cuddle him all you want. I find it ironic you have Urlacher as your avatar given the distaste URL had for Cutler. And as I write this almost another pick... Sigh

The officiating being what it is...garbage. But it's been bad for both sides. The difference ? Cutler and Tucker's inability to run a D.

I agree. Think Detroit will win the division. Bears lucky to get 9-7 or 8-8.

I'm calling it now. With the defense and Jay Cutler on this team, no playoff. Maybe 9-7 if they're lucky.

So while watching the closing minutes of "Insise the NFL" Ed Reed says he's getting on the plane with Brandon to go back to Chicago. I think he was kidding.

I think he'd make the transition fine. One concern is whether he's lost speed in open field coverage. Being a CB you mostly have to be able to run step for step to the coverage. With a FS he'd be allowed to roam more and close on whatever protection he'd need to be providing. If it were SS then obviously he'd be more expected to support the run and intermediate coverage. I think mentally he'd be able to do what is needed (reading WR sets and backfield positions etc) it would just be the open field range that might come into question. Personally I'd like to see Adrian Wilson back on the roster but he probably doesn't have it either or he'd still be on the team.

And I seem to recall that Matthews was hurt this last week. Enough to where he could be questionable. Just can't remember what the injury was. He's becoming a bit of a health hazard for their team.

An interesting thing that I'm having a hard time grasping is that despite the fact that there are 3-4 rookies and about 4-5 new players (through FA) on defense and Mel Tucker is coaching them, they seem to be getting better...not worse. Gradually but they are staying strong. Before last night the Jets were #1 in rushing offense. The Bears D held them to a total of 116 yds (with none of the five rushing players getting more than 50 yards individually). And they had the ball for three minutes longer than did the Bears. Pretty impressive I must say.

Love how Briggs was just standing there during that last play. He's done zzz Retired in duty. Can't wait to get to his BBQ shop.
