  1. Disagree with the first part, agree with the second. I think if he was trying to "slap Lovie" he'd be retooling the Defense. What he's doing is what he was hired to do, "attempt" to build a respectable offense. I really don't see much in the way of large cajones especially given he's currently got 90 players on the roster? As the old adage suggests: "you throw enough crap at a wall eventually some of it will stick". And what I mean in that is with that many players available to you, you should be able to field a respectable team.
  2. I know it's early and hamstrings aren't always a big deal but... There is some concern with injury bug for AJ, at least for me. If for nothing else to take note of. Maybe even better that Aromashadu is in the team. http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpos...amp;src=desktop
  3. In regards to your point about QB; it is eerily reminiscent to the dicscussions we've had about Tebow. One big difference in Jackson is that not only has he not proven capable to play QB at this level, he is not a player that could play other positions.
  4. A quick highlight film on Aromashadu's play in an OT game against Minnesota. Shows his strength as a slot receiver. And you get to see Hillenmeyer do a 'Peanut punch' for a turnover.
  5. I'm good with it. He's actually not a horrible receiver. Did some good when on the team a few years ago. From what I remember Cutler was favorable of him. Reminds me a little of Brandon Lloyd (who I wished the Bears had kept), without the speed. We'll see how he works in the new offense. He's a good clutch receiver, like E. Bennett, but without the injury hx.
  6. Mad, speaking from my 'glass half empty' side it is easy to be ecstatic...for now. As the article pointed out Trestman has yet to win a game in the NFL. And as some of the comments pointed out, Marshall has yet to be displeased with what he sees and gets by way of ball distribution. And the question has to be asked, will Cutler ever achieve that 'elite' status we're waiting to see from him? If not, the year could be even longer. We could continue to wait for the answer.
  7. Something that would be interesting to hear about were his conditions of release for the DUI. In some instances, probably not all, they might say to 'stay away from establishments that serve alcohol' or something along those lines. Regardless, if in fact it was an establishment with alcohol... He made a poor choice. To me this doesn't prove that he was sincere in his "apology" and could care less about whether he got in trouble again. This even after being talked to by the team management after the earlier incident.
  8. Agreed (in terms of severity), but nevertheless. In your mind as long as someone isn't "found guilty" they aren't. I know this is a bit of a tangent but this is what is wrong with NFL players, or anyone for that matter, doing something 'petty' (in relation) like this and essentially getting away with it. Where does someone like Rodriguez learn from these constant mistakes he keeps making? When during yet another DUI he 'accidently' runs a red light and kills a family of four? He certainly doesn't learn responsibility by simply getting off because he wasn't "found guilty". Especially when he's committed a crime twice in such a short period of time without feeling any repercussions. Bottom line: he needs to own up to his wrongdoings. And then get the "help" he needs. But not at the expense of being a member of the Bears.
  9. So....what are your thoughts on Tim Tebow?
  10. Spoken like a true defense attorney. So since OJ Simpson and Casey Anthony were exonerated they were "innocent" too?
  11. I think what Weems is is an insurance policy (see motivation) if Hester is unable to get back to doing what he does best, returning kicks. Weems is a very capable return man (made the Pro Bowl because of it). AND he is a decent WR. Something that most here will swear Hester is not. So in those qualities alone Weems brings more to the team than does Hester. I see him as a poor mans version of Joshua Cribbs.
  12. It's times like this where I miss a player like Clutts.
  13. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/...this-offseason/
  14. It's kind of a two way street. The franchise made him just as much as he "made the franchise". When people talk of the Bears, they talk about dominant defenses throughout the years and right after that mention the LBs that played in them. Butkus, Singletary and Urlacher. McCaskey made as much known for his individual recognition. As I said before, he will not be "unforgotten". Like the fans or not. He is now and will always be a part of Bears lore.
  15. Sorry to see him go. How long before he joins the coaching ranks? Maybe someday the team will bring him back as an asst coach. Good luck Brian, thanks for your contributions.
  16. I think another factor that should be equated in this is completion rates. Of the other two it goes to reason their short and long route completions are more consistent. Cutler, not so much. Edwards is right. Cutler does try for the "big play" moreso than others. A big reason why Marshall got such a huge chunk of looks and set the receiving yds record for the franchise. Roethlisberger is another that holds the ball "too long" but is larger and harder to bring down. Hopefully Cutler will be able to make the transition to the more quick release short passing that is the WCO.
  17. Nope, I second your concerns. I agree that given the changes at LB for the team and where they drafted him, they shouldn't be worried how well he'll play on ST. I would rather see DJ Williams play ST before Bostic.
  18. From 2011... http://www.denverpost.com/portlet/article/...nshipId=3923386
  19. Sounds like he has a future in coaching.
  20. I agree with Pix. I have a brother with special needs. Special Olympics is a great avenue for the particpants to not only stay physically active but mingle and stay sociallly active as well. I will be participating in my fourth benefit (in as many years) for Special Olympics weekend after next. The folks there put on a great event and BBQ to show their appreciation afterwards. Good job for Mr Webb in stepping up and helping a worthwhile effort.
  21. The fact of the matter is, this really shouldnt be a story at all. It just so happens to be because the subject, Webb, CURRENTLY plays for the Chicago Bears. I didn't see any spectacular revelation that made me go "good job Webb" because as before it's not really noteworthy. 'Battling to stay sober?'. I mean really. That would imply he was an alcoholic to begin with and I'm pretty sure we would of had heard something before now. Alcohol consumption and 20 something males are synonymous. I'm glad that Webb appears to be making something of himself but what I want for him to do is prove himself on the field.
  22. I'll sorta second this with notes above. Honorable mentions: Bostic will probably end up being the most prized possesion from the draft. I feel a lot of potential for this kid. If true it will show that Emery has a great knack for 2nd round picks, Jeffery being his one from last year. James Anderson. Something about him makes me think he's got a lot to prove. Reminds me a lot of Roach but even better, we shall see. Tim Tebow....sorry I couldn't resist.
  23. "HC's in the NFL today that were in this picture or came soon after" - But thank you for the reminder and for adding Fisher of whom I did forget. This particular thread is a good one because of the historic rememberance associated.
  24. Well the Bears do have a nice long history of LB's that like to hit, I think Bostic will fit in nicely. SORRY, FORGOT I'M NOT PLAYING ANYMORE.
