  1. Signed with Denver. Closer to home? Backup to Peyton? Whoopee doo. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rapid-reports/post/18022972
  2. At this rate and with Fortes apparent unhappiness. I say do what you can Bears to move him. They have three similar runners now in Forte, Bush and Bell. So why not? Maybe he'd enjoy playing for someone like Washington or Indy. I realize the team can't trade him until he signs something but let him know he's gone if that is really what he wants. Good luck Matty.
  3. After watching some video on Bush, I was originally of the opinion he was more like Barber less like Forte. Bush appears to run upright and catches out of the backfield pretty well. Hmmm... Almost identical. He even "jukes" a little like Forte. Couple differences, just by video, is that Bush looks faster than Forte (in the open field) and looks like he keeps his feet moving on contact, forward backward or sideways. The fact that his yardage, average YPC and TDs are similar to Forte makes me think the Bears may have just added another Forte like runner, of which they already had in Bell.
  4. Well heres how I see it Jason. Stats can be skewed how you wanna view them. (Ask politicians). For example where you see a trend of lackluster play by the Oline over the course of years you illustrate, I see that the difference between 2010 and '11 is that the line improved. And that Omiyale wasn't listed for last years lineup. My point is that of the Bears' last two 1st round picks, two were OLmen. And more specifically they were both LTs. And of the two of them, neither played more than Webb did last year at the position. Am I suggesting that Webb (a seventh rounder?) is better than both Williams and Carimi at their "natural" positions? Nope. I'm just saying that picking an OLman with the 1st pick does not guarantee success. Whereas using the 1st round pick on a skill player is a better investment. And with the other key players already in place (Cutler, Forte and Marshall) it is that much more a wiser choice.
  5. So what happened to Spencer? Seems to me that he managed to play Guard pretty well last year and is normally a Center. Yet he's not listed anywhere in your "lineup". I don't get this "panic" some are expressing here. The team was 7-3(??) before Cutler got hurt. And as Terra pointed out that was not due to an OL breakdown. Again, and it bears repeating, picking an olineman anywhere earlier than 2nd round is a wasted pick. Again this is my humble opinion but a skill player is what is needed in 1st and sometimes 2nd round. The Bears are better off looking at a WR or CB before OL in the draft. Look some more in FA for OL help. Heck we got until June.
  6. Ditto. (Scary that we agree again). Ha ha And Jason, Williams and Carimi are 1st round picks and they didn't play Tackle as much as Webb did last year. I'm just sayin.
  7. First round pick for other than WR or CB would be a wasted pick....IMHO
  8. http://www.kffl.com/static/nfl/features/fr...n=OL&y=2012 The above link shows many possibles for Tackle free agents. The list will grow as the FA wears on and the draft comes and goes. Don't think the team needs to panic and sign just to be signing...at that position. As far as drafting at the first round for OT. Don't think they should. Like I mentioned before, theyve already done that previously (Williams and Carimi). Skill positions are better suited for that, especially given Jay does need another big bodied WR to compliment Marshall. And a young one out of college would fit the bill.
  9. Yes but Peanut and Urlacher are also cornerstones to the Defense. Not so for Carimi and Williams.. Not yet. The point with them is they both had pre-existing issues but fortunately they are young and not as costly. And they are already on the team. This guy McNeil is older, injured and costly. No thanks. I'm not suggesting the team draft this position... Not that high (again) but I am definitely saying the team should look at a FA tackle, if Tice thinks it necessary.
  10. I concur. Having him him on the team with his medical concerns would be foolhardy. Perhaps as dangerous as drafting twice for Tackles in the first round that both had pre-existing medical issues. (Williams and Carimi).

  12. In doing a quick read on him, he looks to be a solid player. Projected out of college as an OLB (as opposed to the DE he was in college) ideal for a 3-4 defense due to "his lack of size". Went to Cleveland for his first four years playing OLB. Then two seasons ago, joined Oakland as a DE in a 4-3 defense (of which he was more accustomed). In his career he's averaged about 7.1ish sacks and 61-62 tackles. I think given his age (compared to Idonije) and that Izzy can rotate to DT I say "why not"? Sounds like someone who would do great in Chicago and other posters are right about him, he has a motor that won't quit.
  13. Couldn't agrees more. My thought was that it's a "waste" a player like Meriweather, who has so much raw talent, has not been able to harness the discipline he needs to control that talent. And the fact that he is going to Washington, possibly to replace Landry. And Landry is a player the Bears are looking at... That's ironic.
  14. May want to add that Meriweather is now with Washington.... Seems a waste and ironic that the Bears could be looking at Landry... http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/footba...IBXES_blog.html
  15. At some point, maybe next year, the team is going to need to look at drafting a decent QB. One that can be around as a long term (and reliable) #2. Neither Campbell nor McCown are spring chickens anymore.

  17. The Marshall incident can't be overlooked. Police reports say that Marshall was the primary "perpetrator". Given his propensity for trouble and Goodells knack for discipline, look for something significant to occur. I suspect Marshall will at the very least miss some playing time.
  18. Agreed, the two names that come immediately to mind Ricky Manning Jr and Tank Johnson. Loads of talent, but where are they now?
  19. Sounds like the team had to know about it (happened "four days ago") and the character issues concern me. Not sure how Lovie will like this coming to the team. Not sure what I think as a fan, other than being really disappointed. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id...-two-3s-how-why
  20. I'm really glad to see this. I was and am still not a big fan of getting Jackson. Having Marshall makes it easier for Jay to adjust as he knows him already. And the talk I was seeing about whether the team should worry about getting Jay what he wanted or he would "be gone in a few years", IMHO, was ludicrous. They sent Angelo and Martz packing and had a player like Bennett still on the roster, mostly I am sure due to Jays input. They even drafted a top tier OLman last year but who would've thought he would not be able to finish the year? The team has been doing what it can to help Jay and the offense. Unfortunately it was mismanaged somewhat. As far as Williams...no thanks. Originally I was pretty excited about the concept but with players like Wimbley, Hawthorne and Freeney possibly available (at a much lower cost) then I'm ok with letting him go elsewhere. With the move of adding Marshall I'm pretty excited to see what else Emery has up his sleeve. Keep up the good work my man.
  21. I like the rationale especially with all the talk of Mario Williams. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...avid-hawthorne/
  22. I would think having Landry in Chicago would be awesome. Problem is the Bears need more help in other positions. Landry will come at a cost. And if anything the team needs more help at CB, long before Safety.
  23. I'm not sure what it is but I'm not liking this idea of V Jax on the team. Could it be the recent spate of injuries or contractual issues? Is there the possibility that he is a bad influence in the locker room? Like I said, I can't put my finger on it but IMHO, the Bears might want to reconsider going for him.
  24. According to the below referenced link the case is made that a combination of a Reggie Wayne and Mario Mannigham pcikup with a high First Rounder at WR makes the best sense for the Bears. I would go a bit further and say that Vincent Jackson instead of one of the two other veterans makes sense too, his negative being his money wants. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1064362...n=chicago-bears
  25. This was one of the reasons I asked the question earlier about "logical choice"? And as DBD pointed out above it is not the team's primary need. To look at a player like Grubbs, to me, doesn't seem logical at all.
