My rant was a heat of the moment lapse. I edited the “quitter” part out and apologize for going off. This loss stung as much or more than the Parkey double doink to me. I still have confidence in Fields’ ability and think the coaches really muffed it. Yes I get your slow read concerns but he wasn’t doing that for a majority of the game. It wasn't until he fumbled the ball did the wheels start to wobble. And as Matt Ryan kept pointing out Getsy needed to scheme less of having Justin with his back to the line because that fumble was a result of doing that very thing. For now I rescind my total flush comment. I’d definitely be ok with them flushing Getsy and Flus and installing an interim right now. Maybe that will spark some better play calls on both sides of the ball and better efficiency from the players? I say stick to eight games to see how Fields does then let Bagent run the rest of the season. Even with an interim and assuming it continues to go the way it is, you’re still on target with getting Williams next year.

The Bears are this generation of Browns. Will have a team full of 1st round talent searching indefinitely for its “franchise QB”.

I was wondering what difference it made to do it now or wait . I know having a short week plays into it but the team won’t be really trying anyhow if they keep Flus or Getsy. Maybe a firing or two ASAP would make some incremental change? Poles did not look the least bit happy at the end of the game.

Wasn’t the point. Moreso who they played in that loss. Was it Alabama or any other SEC team? Aside from Forte and Mooney how many notable draft picks have come from Tulane on a regular basis? Whose fault is the lack of middle throw plays? Did you see the Swifty report from earlier this week? We all see the lack of those calls in game time . Surely they must be practicing stuff like that. ??♂️

Rumor is that Claypool is out because he popped off earlier this week about not being used enough/correctly. I’m done with him. A few weeks back Fields questioned why ESB wasn’t being used more but that he didn’t make those calls. Maybe this will be better after all? And a few more notables for inactive. Peterman and Jaylon Johnson among them.

As of right now, yes. Couple reasons, he’s still on his rookie contract. And there’s a possibility he could be great gadget player ala Taysom Hill or even Deebo Samuel. Would really need a great offensive mind to do something like that, pretty sure Getsy ain’t it. Another reason is I still need more time THIS YEAR to see how it pans out. Think it was Mongo that suggested we get to at least game 8 before we make a hard decision on him. I agree with that. Another thing that helped Campbell on his turnaround in Detroit was to get Goff and elevate his former TE coach Ben Johnson to OC last year. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38508867/the-rise-detroit-lions-oc-ben-johnson?platform=amp

Continuing on my Devils Advocate Saturday … Fields was 5-3 against SEC teams (5-2 as a Freshman while at Georgia). Undoubtedly SEC was/is the toughest division in the NCAA. And Justin was 3-3 in the college playoffs/bowl games (two of those losses against eventual National champ Alabama). So far Williams is 1-1 in bowl games (losing last year to Tulane). I’ll stick with Justin a little bit longer.

Fun fact; Eberflus is currently 3-17 as a head coach. Campbell was 4-19 through the first 7 games of last year. ??♂️

I’ll second this to infinity. Being booed is nothing new. Just how the players (and coaches) deal with it is different. I still remember the time when Ditka chucked his gum at some fans after they’d been taunting him. Ah…the good ol days.

Admittedly I don't watch much Jets football but I had a hard time thinking that they would be this bad after losing Rodgers. This was more what I expected the Packers to do once he left. At any rate, the Jets seemed legitimately one piece (or two) away from putting it all together. In that regard, having Rodgers there it logically made sense that would have made them more a contender. Their defense isn't as spectacular as you'd think but they are 12th overall in allowed scoring. Otherwise they're middling at best in every other category. The Bears are a mess in just about every category both for offense AND defense. About the only redeeming quality on defense is their 18th overall ranking in rush defense. Otherwise they are bottom 5 in just about all the other categories.

Because I was curious, Hurts’ QBR (whatever that is) is 44.2 and his team is 3-0. Kirk Cousins QBR is 59.5 (ranked 12th) and his team is 0-3 like us.

Drew Brees was notoriously short at 6’0 (although really I think it might’ve been shorter). I remember reading a number of years ago about he often had to stand on his toes to make throws. Then of course there was Doug Fluite. Its all about making adjustments. And maybe a reason why they design more rollout options for Justin.

I would say the current issues with Fields is a microcosm of the systemic issues that are the current Chicago Bears. I would think the macrocosm is the overall system (aka organization). How far up does the dysfunction go is the question to ask. To the pic below I would add that there are a bevy of other issues that factor into the equation to include injures and third stringers starting in key positions (oline and def secondary for sure).

For now. I’ll put Fields’ overall QB career over Getsy’s OC career. Signed ~ Homer.

Again, are we trying to play to HIS strengths (and likes) or force him to do more of what he isn’t comfortable doing? Over the course of the game, how many play action, crossing routes screens or short routes are called? From this film it doesn’t appear too often. I can’t tell you if the calls are because that’s what Justin wants or because Getsy doesn’t know how to design them. But I can say in the review I commented on, Chase mentioned a few plays were favorites of Aaron Rodgers (hence why Getsy would try them).
