I’d say that answers the question on whether he’s the answer at QB going forward(?) Been a fair amount of chatter (Twitter mostly) about the Bears possibly wanting to trade him in the off-season for more picks. And safe to ASSume most of those saying that were people not watching him play.

Evidently there was a moment in last weeks game where Claypool had a bit of meltdown (he was frustrate about something) and Fields was one of the first to come to him and calm him down. Later Fields was asked about and essentially he said that Claypool is passionate about football and that the two of them were going to work together a lot in the off-season.

Agreed. I would have preferred they win the last four games after the bye but it didn’t happen. Some here wanted the team to lose and are getting their wish. So I don’t see the problem (said with a smirk). With as many players as the team was without (lost both Jenkins AND Schofield yesterday) and considering how worn down Fields has to be (he ran 100+ yards IN ONE QUARTER, and was injured … again) I’ll be happy if he doesn’t end up with some career ending injury at this point. He was a bit slow on the reads yesterday I agree. Not sure if that was a result of bad play calling or bad field reads or the combination of both. But while we watched the game yesterday the wife and I both agreed Fields is the hardest working kid on the team and will do what he needs to get better for next year.

I think most of this is Fields wanting to play…if I had to guess. There’s no question he’s the starting (franchise) Qb going forward. He has a patchwork o-line in front of him and can’t spend a lot of time looking for open receivers because of. And for what it’s worth most of his WRs aren’t anything to write home about. On the opposite side you have a defense that is patchworked together itself with a handful of rookies. There is little doubt they need a lot of help especially on the front 7.

I think the guy that tweeted this said something to effect of ‘I’m just putting some stats down’. One thing I’d consider is that Justin is at the beginning of his career whereas Rodgers, not so much. And like you said, give him some key tools to work with and the future is even more bright.

I could see Smith-Njigba being this years version of Devontae Smith. I wasn’t sure after seeing him get injured during last years college playoffs he’d be as good as he is now. Honestly though I’d be good with either of the remaining top OSU WRs. Harrison 1a and SN as 1b

I’m with you.

Agreed. For some reason I’ve always favored former Dallas players as commentators. Romo, Aikman and Johnston. They all approach it with a players’ perspective. Can’t say I’ve watched the Mannings too much bit could imagine they’ll being similar. My favorite non-player announcer is Gus Johnson. Can’t get enough of his enthusiasm.

My wife has been able to recite most of the referee calls the last few seasons. I’m so proud of her.

Funny you say that. I was getting Letterman vibes (very briefly) with some of Bucks replies. But then he flamed out. Yeah Letterman would have lit him up.
-
Yeah never really been a fan of Bucks but yeah that was pretty epic. Never did see that before, thanks for sharing. Never been a fan of Langes either. He’s always been ‘cringy’.

Are you suggesting he’s what’s causing ALL the disruption along the line? I’ll be clear, I was once an advocate for Mustipher. I’ve seen enough to know he needs to be replaced…as a starter. The team (Poles) tried to do that with Patrick and it flopped. I believe as an UDFA (coming to the team in 2019 no less) they certainly have gotten some bang for their buck. After all you have Whitehair who has had a turn at Center not replace Musty. Why not? They have decent depth at G so I’d think if Sam was such a disaster they’d at least consider that option. All I’m suggesting is that Mustipher does hold some value as being dependable with regards to not getting injured and being available to play. He’s also got some value with a fair amount of starting experience. Why not expand on his value and train him to play more than one position … as a back up?

Speaking of (alternatives) you can always continue to watch Joe (blowhard) Buck and SVP exchange barbs post game on ESPN. Now THATS entertainment.

When I talk about loving big-bodied WRs this is why. Despite having a DB hanging all over him, 6’7” FSU wideout Johnny Wilson made it look easy.

That was the plan this year. And we see how that ended up. You’re right that if he’s nothing else hes reliable. Just about every other player on the line has been injured at one point this year and he keeps showing up. That should count for something going forward even as a bakckup. Wonder if there would be any reason to have him practice as a Guard to make him more versatile? He could hold more value if he could come in as relief as more than just a Center.

I watched some of the Broncos/Rams game last weekend on Nickelodeon with my 18 year old daughter. She’s just recently taken some interest in watching football with me. She said she really liked watching the game with “slime-time”. Made it more entertaining for her. I say if it works to draw in younger viewers, why not? It’s always just an option from the “normal” broadcast. I’ll have to ask her what she thinks about the female reporters.

If memory serves that would still have been during Fangios time in Denver and explains why he did so well. I agree if he is as good as Fangio thinks (assuming a lot) then he’s definitely worth keeping around. Could flourish with Flus.

On the one hand, I'm not sure what to think of it. Solely for the money aspect of it. How much would Chicago be on the hook (financially) for his recently signed (and healthy) contract? Coming out of the gate, Poles strikes me as a frugal spender and this doesn't quite play into his style. Then again, its only been one year with him so far and perhaps he's inclined to spend big money if he thinks it worthwhile? I still think we need to be able to evaluate what Fields can do, and in order to do that we need better linemen in front of him. Adams is unquestionably a super-talented WR and would no doubt raise Fields' game but his salary could impede adding needed players in other positions. And what's to say the Bears couldn't find a decent pickup in the draft like Smith-Njigba? (For what its worth I'm also a fan of Marvin Harrison Jr). We still need to evaluate what Claypool can provide to the team. He hasn't really had that opportunity mostly due to injury. And don't forget about Harry. Again he's had some issues with injury but so far he's been pretty damn reliable when targeted. And then there's the defense. Even when Flus gets all his current "starters" back he's going to need key players across the front seven. I'd say at least half are in need of replacing/upgrading. Really this is where the money needs to be spent. On the other hand, it would certainly be sweet to see Adams suit up a Bear and make all the Packers fans seethe.

Pettis possibly out this weekend.

Swift Sports thinks they could try out recently signed Andrew Brown (listed as a DE) in the middle. I could see Reyes get a shot after being ballyhooed earlier in the season. Theres some tape out there on how well Jones played against Buffalo. So I’m a little surprised they’re discussing moving him to see someone else at the 3T. They also talk about some potential Oline looks to include Eislen at Guard and/or Center and maybe even Leatherwood inside. EDIT: I also wouldn't mind seeing recently acquired DE Terrell Lewis on a few snaps. Doesn't sound like he did much with the Rams but maybe...just maybe a change of scenery will do wonders?

Holy Cow Zach Wilson/Tua/Russell Wilson are bad

Happy holidays guys. We’ve accumulated roughly 5-6 feet of snow already and after a week of sub-zero temps had one heck of a wicked wind storm yesterday. And we’re supposed to be “used to it” (I’m not). Been reading about the weather you all are getting in the lower 48. ?? Please stay safe and indoors at all cost. Enjoy your holidays and watch some football if you’re able. ☃️❄️☃️❄️
