In other not so shocking news. For what it’s worth, I appreciated the time he was here. Great teammate, great leader, Great Bear:
-
Any interest here? On a ‘team friendly’ deal if it can be done? Some say he’s got nothing left. I suppose it would be “six one, half dozen the other” between he or ARob.

LS Patrick Scales resigned and this from Brad Biggs…

Already posted elsewhere.

I read somewhere that Morrow started out as a safety for the Raiders. Sounds a lot like Urlacher in that regard. Watching film on him shows he’s a pretty rangy player who doesn’t mind contact. Roquan is an excellent lateral player (x axis) and Morrow seems to do better on the ‘y axis’. Will be fun to see them playing together.

James Daniels joining Trubiksy in Pittsburgh. 3 years at $8 million per.
-
??? Read somewhere that he’s had 100 tackles seasons for the last three.

For what it’s worth:

Is La’el Collins on the radar? With him potentially being released would he cost a lot? I honestly don’t know why he’s not finding a trade partner, would think it has to do with money or a mix of some injuries and ‘missing a drug test’ last year. In other tweet sources he graded out as top 15 as OT and had 2 sacks counted against him
-
And right after that the Browns make Jarvis Landry available via trade. But…
-
And just adding this here as well (possibly Goldman next):

His (Cohen’s) replacement is on the roster in Grant…now they need to resign him. Of course he’s gonna be a bit more pricey and really we’d need to know whether he’d figure into the scheme. He’s definitely a versatile player. Think C.Patterson but smaller. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2022/03/10/bears-jakeem-grant-nfl-free-agency-market-value/

Tracking SD fan Twitter sites tells us they’re pretty excited about the acquisition. With Mack and Bosa coming off opposite sides is pretty scary. SD fans are amazed the Bears didn’t get more for him. I’m guessing his more recent injury history had something to do with it. And probably why, although painful for us, a good time for him to go. SD is more prepared than the Bears to win now and hopefully Mack can capitalize on it.

Yeah it looks like last he had doubles sack numbers was in Dallas (2019) with 11.5 under their 4-3 scheme. Before that it was with the Rams (2012-14).

And what’s more rumors are circulating that either Trubiksy or Foles could be headed to Indianapolis. From Indy fan perspective either might work due to their having a good (decent) OLine and running game. Plus Foles is familiar to Reich and Trubiksy sorta knows how to run their offense. Colts have a pile of picks now with the Wentz deal so maybe Chicago deals Foles and they get a lower round pick in exchange?

Didn’t see anyone else mention this but I apologize if I’m repeating some of the other big NFL news. I naturally thought the title of this would at least involve the word ‘movement’ as when I think of one, I instantly think of Rodgers. Even though he’s not really moving he’s sticking around for a few more years with his new 4 year $200 million deal. And GB applied the franchise tag to Adams right about the same time. So those two will be around to witness 1st hand how Fields will eventually supplant him as the best QB in the NFC North and “own” GB for years to come. In other, more notable news, Russell Wilson was traded to Denver for a couple 1st’s, three (?) players and a couple more lesser round picks. Vic Fangios probably saying why couldn’t they have done this last season? Anyhow, Seattle also released LB Bobby Wagner (who started in Seattle the same time Wilson did). All this will probably change the FA and draft season for us a bit? Does GB have any money to give Rodgers what he needs to make another SB season? Lastly, I appreciated this Tweet highlighting the days events.

Brian Flores ended up as a ‘senior defensive exec / LB coach’ with Pittsburgh after leaving Miami. I think this is the natural progression of things. Rarely do coaches go from one HC to another HC gig. Lovie went to TB as their HC after being out of the league for two years then after leaving there following 2015 ended up as the Texans HC 7 years later.

Grant vs Cohen vs Patterson as the Bears Swiss Army Knife
Alaskan Grizzly replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
Grant and Cohen are interchangeable. Grant I think has the edge due to his (sustained) return capabilities and lack of injury history. If you’re looking for a Tyreek Hill type player for the offense, you go with Grant. If you’re looking for a player like Debo Samuel you go for Patterson. Suppose it depends on what style offense they’re gonna go with. Getsy was WR coach for the Packers about the same time Ty Montgomery made the conversion from WR to RB. Maybe a factor, maybe not. -
From listening to reports (after the fact), Nagy wasn't communicating too much or very well with the players for whatever reason. Whether it was Trubisky and his prepared notes or cutting off communication with Robinson after the end of the 2020 season, its clear Robinson's lack of production last year wasn't squarely on ARob. Whatever the case may be I suspect ARob will be moving on and flourish with whomever his next team ends up being.

If you don’t read the responses the numbers indicate the times he was targeted over the last three years.

Ok now that you’ve done all that work (and yes I read all of it…lol). What is Getsys background? I mean before he came to GB to watch…er…I mean coach Rodgers? I’m curious and will look it up too. Wondering if he had some clout from the college ranks? Who has he developed? What playing experience does he have (not that it matters a lot but still, curious)? Was listening to an interview with Deion Sanders last night where he says he thinks his experience at playing both Offense and Defense has made him a better coach. So far he’s 12-2 so maybe there’s something to it. He definitely is a players coach what with his ability to lure the top recruit to his school this year.
