Saw this screenshot on Twitter but haven’t been able to find the actual article. If accurate, sounds like practices will be pretty intense.

I think CHI is in a better position (yes with bias) due to the QB situation. I think at best Jones is a serviceable backup. Hey maybe Daboll will try and make a deal for Trubisky? I’d bet he’d do well with Daboll.
-
I’m as confused as you are. Packers former OC (Hackett) went to Denver to be their HC. And sounds like he didn’t get much chance to call plays while in GB. And Getsy is/was Hacketts backup.
-
Looks like Daboll to the Giants. If he’s able to make it work there he’ll be the HC of the year. Rumor has it the new GM wanted Daboll and ownership wanted Flores.

For what it’s worth.

When I heard about this announcement I tried to make the connection of ‘why’ did Eberflus make the cut. Although they weren’t my personal choices (still liked Daboll) I assumed under the circumstances it would be either Quinn or Caldwell. Reading this article it paints a better picture of how he’s built his resume. And interestingly enough although he appears to be a 4-3 type of guy has experience with 3-4. In fact he was involved in the transformation of 3-4 to the 4-3 base while in Dallas. Similar to what Fangio did when he came to Chicago but in reverse. And not only that but is familiar to the Tampa-2 (which I’m personally a fan of with the understanding the old version won’t work as well in todays world). At any rate he had some connections to Tony Dungy (while he was in Indy) who was coaching when Polian was their GM. Not to suggest Polian had ultimate influence on this hire but maybe he reached back to some of his sources back in Indy for a more thorough background. In speaking ‘coaching tree’ terms it doesn’t appear he’s got a direct link to any one of the greats but rather a collection of influences from a lot of them. Similar to how Daboll has built his resume with offense. That being said, at the end of the day I’m just a fan (like George) and I’m encouraged by the changes and hopeful they’ll make our team better.

For what it’s worth I wouldn’t mind Peters sticking around for another year, on a reasonable contact of course.

Sorry I meant ‘BearFan PHX’.

This should help Jason and AZFan (formerly NYCFan) with their ‘priapism’.

Exactly.

And in case you were wondering about Harbaugh. Several sites mention this (basically the Gruden to Oakland/Vegas deal):
-
Adam Schefter goes on to say that 2 of the final three candidates were at Halas Hall today and to expect a decision “soon”. Other social media reports Quinn’s interview went “very well” and that Poles “hopes to make his choice this week.”

While reading up on the new GM found some encouraging news for those of you O-lineman fans and the need for more ‘better’ ones. From the below article: “Back to the Chiefs rebuilding their offensive line after it failed them in the Super Bowl in 2020. They drafted new center Creed Humphrey, signed offensive guard Joe Thuney and traded for left tackle Orlando Brown. The revamped offensive line finished in the top 10 of Pro Football Focus (PFF) rankings and were in the top five for sacks allowed (28), meanwhile, the Bears gave up the most sacks (58) on the year. It should be noted that many have given Ryan Poles credit for finding Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey in the 2021 NFL Draft.” Poles himself a former o-lineman will probably focus on that first thing if he agrees it needs to be enhanced. https://beargoggleson.com/2022/01/25/chicago-bears-hire-ryan-poles-gm/amp/3/

Allegedly Poles insisted on doing his own HC hire. Thats a good sign.

Adding this here. And have no intention of turning this into a political discussion. Just that Rodgers proves how much of an out of touch douche he can be. Most of us Bears fans wanted you and your team to lose because as you were so kind to remind us earlier this season you “owned us”. But really Aaron there are a plethora of reasons we wanted the Pack to lose. Fuc# Rodgers!

I hope you're right. I'm not 100% convinced that Andy Reid doesn't make a majority of the offensive play calls. However if I'm wrong and Bieneny is the one that does it, I hope he's more Pedersen less Nagy. Edit: no sooner do I post then I see this on Twitter.
-
I’d heard that too.
-
Agree with all this. And with a younger GM might not be so bad to go with a veteran HC. Yes it sounds like a song we’ve heard before but this time the GM will have more say on who that guy is. Or so we hope.
-
They won’t have to change too many letters on the nameplate for his office sign. Not sure what to think. Some have pointed out his being younger than Pace when he was hired. And that he’s been a scout for a fair portion of his career. Then there’s the KC connection (like Nagy). Understand that he’s been directly involved with a lot of talent that KC has brought in for the last few years; which is great. Hope that he has a more realistic approach to building teams. I liked one of the candidates’ theory on building from within, meaning they stick with their drafts and build that way more than relying on FAs. Then there’s the conspiracist that suggests since he played at Boston College with Matt Ryan surely he’ll consider Dan Quinn for HC. Which I guess isn’t the worst thing in the world.

Looks like Poles is in town. George even picked him up.

I believe Polian's kids played HS football with Daboll. This from AL.com: "Daboll went to high school with Los Angeles Rams general manager Tom Telesco, Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell, former Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Polian and former Nevada head coach and current Notre Dame special teams coach Brian Polian. It was Brian Polian who first connected Daboll and Saban. After a year as a graduate assistant at Michigan State under Saban, Polian landed a job as an assistant coach at Buffalo. Knowing Saban would need a new GA, Polian recommended Daboll." Full article here: https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2017/03/its_come_full_circle_the_path.html

A fair bit of discussion about a ‘Colts package deal’ on Twitter. Among them:

Agree 100% but for all the points you make, and that Rodgers has been a general D-bag this year (IMHO) is good to see them go out. I've had discussions with a few fans in person and through social media that love to say how much our team sucks. When I remind them that usually GB isn't far behind the Bears when it comes to leaving the season without going to the SB they say 'yeah, not this year'. Yet here we are. Speaking on the special teams. Given all four games this weekend were decided by 3-6 pts (only KC and Buff were the oddity at 6 but due to OT) there is even more emphasis on that phase doing well. We are all too familiar with that from when Parkey kicked for us. Anyhow, I couldn't help but notice the on-going stroking the announcers (mostly Romo) were doing about Butker being the best kicker in the league after Justin Tucker and how good he was. Right after Romo talks about how he has the 'cleanest kick arc' (or something ridiculous) he goes and misses wide right. Then nearly misses another later in the game. And "Parkey'ed" one of his XPs. So even when you have a "sure thing" like Butker on your team, nothing is guaranteed. That being said, I agree with you. I like where our ST is currently. Santos isn't the best out there but by in large he's done pretty damn good (the best we've had since Gould... IMHO). And Grant is something special for sure. Once they decide on the new HC I'm hoping ST isn't one they tinker with too much.

My bust, I had that backwards. Yeah Fraziers D struggled especially at the end of the game.
