  1. The question I keep seeing repeated is ‘where has CB Graham been all season behind players like Burns and Vildor’? I can’t help but bring up once again, if Desai is so good at what he does and given his background as a defensive back coach why he didn’t recognize it sooner? Was last night a one hit wonder? His college tape looked promising. I hope what he showed us last night was a sample of his base ability .
  2. The whole defense plays more inspired when he’s on the field…they certainly did last night. The entire secondary were primarily PS guys and they looked like starters last night…even Vildor.
  3. There is definitely a tale of two weeks for sure. Last week (against GB) he was incredible then last night reverted to what looked like day one preseason. These are in fact huge keys to his success. I’m surprised for as much as he’s been banged around he hasn’t gotten hurt more. At some point that definitely needs to be cleaned up, he can’t keep doing that. and the turnovers…oy vey. All season he’s been fumbling the ball due to the way he carries the ball. After 2-3 times you’d think he’d work on that a little more. His receivers actually catching the ball would help (Cole Kmet - looking at you). And Jimmy G!! WTF?!? I call for you to be used in the red zone. You finally get a chance and drop the ball in your one ‘sure thing’ opportunity. Im still excited to see how he develops for next year.
  4. Fu#k the refs. FWIW despite the total mess the team is in, they are playing balls out. Just like the Lions have been. Good on them. If they lose it’s not because they didn’t try.
  5. Agree with Pix, this isn’t the place to talk about COVID in this manner. There’s too much flawed information out there to make a substantive stance with regards to the NFL.
  6. To add to your ‘everyone has COVID’ string, CB Johnson and Safety Gipson out meaning all secondary starters are out tomorrow. Yay.
  7. If we could see some evidence of passion for the game top to bottom that would be nice. Watching Detroit take it to Arizona reminds me how crappy a team you can be and still play like you give a damn. And spare me the ‘trap game’ BS. AZ has everything to play for. Detroit has been playing balls out most of the season, they’ve just not been able to get it all together…yet.
  8. Looks like they’ll keep Jenkins where he is/was most recently.
  9. With Burns potentially out will Vildor get the nod or will we get to see Graham? I hope it’s Graham, just to see what the team has in him. Of course there’s also the recently added Dee Virgin who I know nothing about.
  10. In other news, COVID protocols are causing some issues among teams. Many positive tests over the last couple days. I heard on some ESPN show that some teams may have to postpone/resched their games and some, like the Browns, have as many as 9 players (to include Mayfield today) that tested positive this week. The Bills’ Josh Allen will be “limited” for the team’s walkthrough practice this week due to a lower leg injury he suffered last week. Meaning it could be Trubiksy time in Buffalo for week 15. I’ll be interested to see how that goes.
  11. I imagine this would go under the week 15 Game Thread. But for your consideration. Possible Borom and Jenkins will swap positions this week.
  12. Like all that you put up (except McDaniels...in my mind he's just a prick and can't get over that fact). Anyhow, of the others I like Daboll and Frazier as my current front-runners. I like what you said about Bowles and agree he was given a raw deal with NYJ. His defenses are always really aggressive (my favorite style) and he's got enough time in the NFL to know who to put in play as an OC. Maybe this is a place where someone like Day makes his NFL debut? I look similarly at Daboll as I do McVay. A few weeks ago McVay looked like he'd lost the edge on the rest of the league where despite signing big names to make a 'win-now' push he started stringing together losses. Then after last night's performance both the defense and offense stepped up and made the Cardinals look like an 'also-ran'. I have faith that Daboll's had enough 'been-there, done-that' experience he'll figure out how to adapt. If he doesn't, I'm with you....he's not the first on the list.
  13. Wouldn’t this be one of those things that could be “off-setting”? The same ref who saw Vildor ‘step off’ the field (threw his hat to indicate the foul) was seen later in the game doing it again. Not on the call Adam asked about where the GB player ran practically the length of the field inside the sideline. Seems he was focusing a lot on those infringements…most of the time.
  14. Whatever happens, I hope that Ryan Day does not make it into final consideration as HC. With Urban Meyer's mess of a season in JAX as an example, the last thing is our team needs is another unproven 'wunderkind' to come in and try to make things right. As much as it pains me to look, the two QBs to start at Ohio State (prior to Fields) in the last 6 years are JT Barret and Dwayne Haskins. Barret is nowhere to be seen in the NFL and Haskins is fading fast. Both Meyer and Day worked with these guys while at OSU. All that being said, I still think Fields will be a 'one-off' from those guys but still don't want Day anywhere near him in the NFL.
  15. Great question and one that will baffle us for quite some time. Just like the mystery taunting call a few weeks ago. In all the years I've watched/played football I hate to admit I did not know you could not advance a "muffed punt" or "muffed onside kick". The more you know...
  16. On the Vildor penalty, here’s what they have from the broadcast (below). Looks like he’s touched althoughbeit brief. And he tries to get in almost immediately. Oh well, this was the controversial play that Nagy shouldn’t have been punting anyhow, so there’s that.
  17. Sadly it appears ARob is done playing for Chicago.
  18. It wasn't apparent to me just how well Peters was playing until Jenkins came in to sub him. A WHOLE lot of difference in experience from a future HOF player to one that is on his rookie year. If Jenkins is good to go, you keep him in until the end of the season. Peters should be allowed to retire if that is his choosing or come back next year on a friendly deal. Also would like to see a lot of the newer players that haven't had much chance to play to get out there; Graham, Newsome and maybe even Marable if he's still on the team. Would've like to have seen some of Snowden but looks like his injury last night may sideline him for awhile.
  19. This one? And Vildor literally stepped out then back in…
  20. I have been reading a lot of rumor material based on this. One article I read laid out how it would be to get a guy like Payton to Chicago. ‘Trading’ for a coach isn’t common but not unheard of either. Gruden was traded from the Raiders to the Bucs all those many years ago for money and picks. The second part of that deal (picks) are what concern me given how little draft capital the Bears have at this point. I think if a deal like this were swung it would come down to how much Payton would want to do it. Coming back to his ‘hometown’ Chicago and work with an up and coming Qb? Guess we’ll see.
  21. Your basing this assessment on one game. Most of the mistakes you cite were highlighted in last weeks’ game. Just like Dalton threw four INTs last week, does not one career make. If you believe Mustipher is as bad as you think he is then so too is Fields based on his stats and analytics as an NFL player … so far. What’s the common issue here? We all agree it’s the offense and more specifically the guy calling those plays (Nagy). We really haven’t been able to see the true capabilities of ANY of the players on offense because of it. ARob suddenly went from a consecutive 2 year 1,000 yard season receiver before this seasons version of him. Graham went from 8 TDs and being a red zone threat to 2TDs and no longer producing just like that? Even Herbert who a few weeks ago looked like an all pro in the making has nearly disappeared. Instead we’re back to watching Montgomery bounce around and scrimp and scratch for every yard he can get. It’s either A LOT of coincidences or something else. I’m not saying Musty is the long term solution at Center. Just saying his play isn’t enough that it’s one of our the teams top priorities. Not at drafting anyhow.
  22. Still struggling with this one, especially in the draft. Some weeks ago I shared a tape from Kreutz about his support for Mustipher. Below is a newer article (from last month) where Kreutz is still a strong supporter but has throttled back his undying support. He seems to think Sam is serviceable and the Bears would be better suited in keeping him for at least one more year; if not as a backup. Instead of drafting if the Bears can find a good FA pickup like the Bucs did with Jensen in 2018 or Atlanta then SF did with Alex Mack then maybe that’s the better route? I agree positions like WR, CB and safety are more of need and the draft picks are slim going into next year. https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-bears/olin-kreutz-fires-back-at-the-sam-mustipher-haters/
  23. Some news on those of you who do the ‘all-22’ thing. Prior to this last weekend he was getting praise for playing against the likes of TJ Watt and Nick Bosa back to back with only one sack allowed. Lookin good so far.
