I stand corrected. Apparently he was in for two special team plays. https://www.bleachernation.com/bears/2021/12/06/sounds-like-matt-nagy-is-putting-winning-ahead-of-critical-development-because-the-bears-arent-mathematically-eliminated-yet/?fbclid=IwAR0HUav-YXliGwVuVtocTp8AZ6-DcYIeMgE49AucvhludOszfDRS7-M-pro

Rumor: Bears to Fire Nagy after Thanksgiving
Alaskan Grizzly replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
So here we are…week three (or so) of the Nagy fire-sale. And so far…nothing. People chant “fire Nagy” at NFL games, at NBA games, NHL games, at Collegiate games and unfortunately even at Nagy’s own kid’s game. Yet there he is, still making a mess of things. Take for example this current conundrum. Noone can get a fix on Fields’ injury. It’s possible he could go to IR or he could be back next week. Right now it sounds less likely he’ll be playing in GB. Then we find our Dalton was injured in yesterday’s game. Something about his hand during a tackle. Late in the game (about late 3rd quarter) I saw him holding his non-throwing shoulder after one of the few sacks against AZ. So who really knows. Which means Foles could be up. Here’s a video of him back in August showing how ready he is to go in and put it on the line for the Bears: -
If you consider of the four TOs that not only did AZ score on 3 (?) of them they also started well within Bears territory the D did ok. It’s no wonder the Bears had the ball longer and had more yardage, it’s that they didn’t do anything with it when they had it. Used to think Andy would be good to have as backup next year; now I’m not so sure. Congrats to the Lions for winning one. Against that division foe Vikings that had to feel pretty damn awesome. Sucks that the Bears couldn’t have won a winnable game today.

Season is saved! Kidding. Not sure what to think of having Jenkins available this week against AZ. Adams will be good to see should he make it on the field. See him as a younger and cheaper version of ARob. And Irvin is more like Ogletree. Good player ‘in the day’ and can still contribute. Maybe more?

Rumor: Bears to Fire Nagy after Thanksgiving

Borrowing from the term ‘there’s an app for that’, there really is a stat for everything. I’d like to see something like this for how the refs each directly influence a win/loss of a game. Bears bubble would be pretty big. As would any team that plays GB or TB. -
Playoffs, are we talking about the Playoffs? Yes, yes we are

Hearing more and more from Seattle fans I know (lots of them here in AK) and they say Russell Wilson has checked out. So yeah, don’t expect much more from Seattle. -
Congratulations Hillary and Mitch!

I second this. I see that he has been a candidate on other teams' radar for GM; Jets in 2019 and Falcons and Broncos last year: "Champ Kelly, Bears assistant director of player personnel: He’s gotten a bunch of looks for GM jobs in recent years, including with the Jets in 2019. They took a long, hard look at him before hiring Joe Douglas. Kelly has experience in pro and college scouting. But the Bears haven’t been very successful since Kelly arrived with GM Ryan Pace in 2015 — one winning season, two playoff trips, zero postseason wins. Kelly was in the mix for the Falcons’ and Broncos’ GM jobs this past offseason." NJ.com article about current Giants GM David Gettleman possibly being fired this year and candidates to consider to replace him. -
There's something to be said about Alabama players. Generally speaking any QB coming from there has been 'playing against' NFL caliber defenses, at least during practices. So their 'experiences' put them a hair ahead of other players. Comparatively amongst themselves, this is how it shakes out: Tua: 2020 stats: 1841 yds 11 TD 5 INT (64.1%) 87.1 rating 2021 stats: 1701 yds 10 TD 6 INT (70.5%) 94.7 rating Hurts: 2020 stats: 1062 yds 6 TD 4 INT (52%) 77.6 rating 2021 stats: 2435 yds 13 TD 8 INT (60.1%) 83.9 rating Jones: 2021 stats: 2850 yds 16 TD 8 INT (70.3%) 97.1 rating With Jones, not only do the stats support he 'gets it' but also have to believe that having system like the "Patriot Way" and Belichick running it certainly helps.

You describing Vic Fangio, Mike Ditka and to some extent Jim Harbaugh. All coaches I like based on this character alone. Although doesn't work as well with the 'newer/younger generation'.

Oh yes that thought definitely has crossed my mind. That and the earlier GB game of the officials definitely siding with GB (more than not) gets me really frustrated. I don't think the TEAM is as bad as the record reflects. The coaching? nother story. -
Hmmm…intriguing suggestion. I like the Bears connection. He’s considered the Asst HC in Buffalo. Not sure if a Defensive minded coach is needed right now, unless he runs a more conservative style like say Vic does.
-
If anything we should be comparing who each of the players' HC is/are. With Surtain he's in a prime location with a defensive mind like Fangio running the show. Between Fangio and Nagy there's no disputing who is better in their respective fields. Denver is playing well mostly due to their defensive strength (sound familar) and Surtain happens to be a part of it. Their defense would still be good if they had chosen to draft Fields instead. Not to take anything away from Bridgewater. He's a solid QB but...he's injury prone and they don't have much depth behind him. Their offense is running a primarily smash-mouth style running game (go figure) with a fleet of decent RBs and Melvin Gordon as their lead. And I think Fangio understands better how to be an HC than does Nagy.

I’m going with the latter. I just can’t believe that Fields is that bad a QB that he won’t improve. The wife and I were watching highlights earlier and saw Joe Burrow continuing to light things up. I predicted Fields would be next year’s version of Burrow. I think they’re more alike than Fields and Haskins.

As much as I appreciate your optimism I have a hard time believing we’ll win one of these two. Murray I believe will be back and Rodgers is already paying off the refs so he continue his “ownage” of our team. Gawd it would be sweet to beat them though.
