The only reason why Cutler is not a top 10 QB is because of three things.(1) The lack of real talent at the WR position (2) the lack of and good Oline and (3) being under Martz. Now was he or was he not a pro bowl QB in Denver? Now when you look at the QB 's in that article ahead of Cutler; Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger, Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Joe Flacco, Kevin Kolb and Carson Palmer there is three thing in common that Cutler didn't have as I stated before .(1) The lack of real talent at the WR position (2) the lack of a good Oline and (3) being under Martz. You really think the Palmer,Kolb, Rivers are better than Cutler?????
-
For me it would be Jarret Allen we need him on the other side of Peppers. AP well hes hurt so he is in decline as a RB now and Kahil is still unproven as you say.
-
Yes and also would you try as a LB or DB try to tackle or block this 295lb guy coming at you full speed????? Back in the day who really tackling the fridge....I remember against Green Bay where he wiped one of their LB of the map at the goalline.
-
Also throw in the second teamers E.Williams at (G/C), Brown working at (RT),Rachal working at (G), and Webb at back up (LT) then we might have something.
-
They drafted Rodriguez because they want to copy the scheme that that Patriots are using with the two pass catching TE's. He would be used to replace Clutts in the passing game as the H-back, plus it gives Cutler more faster weapons and creates mismatches for the offense
-
Well I understand your point, but drafting another fullback would seem like a waste when you have a guy that already played the position in high school and college already on the team. Its like the Patriots using their WR Brown and Edelman to play DB over the years....you get a two for one situation saving a roster spot also.
-
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...story?track=rss Well anything that can help us score more in the red zone is fine with me. He played fullback in high school and at Texas.
-
I hope its the game against us that he sits out if they do indeed give him a suspension
-
ROTFL!!!!!! Now that was funny!!
-
Forget the OTA's, training camp.....etc!!! The bottom line here is if you can block you can block. If you have talent then you have talent. But Webb can block and has talent.....just no motoviation to prove it to anyone.I think he should be the swing tackle or benched tackle.
-
Well if he has put forth an effort maybe he will be better. It just takes you being the man! I remember when i left high school and went to play in college my coach told me now that you are not a big fish in a little pond you have to go there and make them notice you. So dont prepare against the 2nd and 3rd stringers practice against the #1 guys to get better. So he needs to line up against Peppers every day to improve himself or..........move out of the way and let Williams take over.
-
LOL well what he said is a reflection of being called out by your QB. Now I'm sure he knows that Williams is moving back to tackle and Brown are breathing down his neck. So he has to say something.
-
HA that maybe true today but watch and see who we let go to give him a spot. I bet the big E and company are locked deep in a room somewhere looking at how we can add him to the roster. As a matter of fact didnt we sign two kickers and another QB? Watch what I say one of them will be gone shortly
-
Hell sign this guy up......given that you were "impressed with his hands; they appear to be fairly soft and reliable" he can't be any worst than the one's we have now. Just picture Marshall, Jeffrey, Davis and this kid in the red zone.......hell yeah what a mismatch for the defense!
-
He said that at 6'10 and 290 he loves to block.......sounds like a guy we can use to groom for the future. This guy could be like and extra tackle in the run game and would be a strong mismatch with the little crossing or flat routes against the way shorter LB. So who can we let go to add Villanueva? I say the ones in bold are ones that we might drop to add him if he shows something in camp. Adams, Kyle TE 6-4 255 Purdue Davis, Kellen TE 6-7 267 Michigan State Rodriguez, Evan TE 6-2 244 Temple R 23 Ross, Draylen TE 6-4 271 North Texas Spaeth, Matt TE 6-7 260 Minnesota Venson, Brandon TE 6-3 245 Illinois State

Looks like we are really going to have roster spot battles this year in camp for the starting Oline and Dline positions, as where you pretty much knew who was going to be where last year. But something is in the ari this year!! I say the bold ones are locks and everyone else..........well lets go training camp!!!!!! AT DT you have these 7 players in the mix. Cameron, Ronnie 6-2 304 Old Dominion McCargo, John 6-2 307 North Carolina State Melton, Henry 69 DL 6-3 295 Texas Miller, Jordan 96 DT 6-2 315 Southern Paea, Stephen 92 DT 6-1 300 Oregon St. Pressley, DeMario 68 DT 6-3 301 North Carolina State Toeaina, Matt 75 DT 6-2 308 Oregon At DE you have these 7 players: Davis, Chauncey DE 6-2 271 Florida State Idonije, Israel DL 6-6 275 Manitoba Gibson, Thaddeus DE 6-2 243 Ohio State McClellin, Shea DE 6-3 260 Boise St. Ozougwu, Cheta DE 6-2 255 Rice Peppers, Julius DE 6-7 287 North Carolina Wootton, Corey DE 6-6 270 Northwestern OLine you have these 13 players Brown, James G/T 6-4 306 Troy Carimi, Gabe T 6-7 316 Wisconsin Garza, Roberto G/C 6-2 310 Texas A&M - Kingsville Greene, A.J. ROTFL....too late I'm just getting up off the floor now!! I saw that and fainted.

I think that they are looking at cheaper options than using draft picks and paying high priced FA guys. This way they can maybe get the best player around with NFL playing experience while still staying with the cap

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,5604133.story The Bears weren't able to add help at defensive tackle during the draft, so they found some on the street. An NFL source told the Tribune the team agreed to terms Thursday night with John McCargo, a former first-round draft pick of the Bills, and DeMario Pressley, former teammates at North Carolina State. Both players will receive one-year contracts. McCargo and Pressley are in position to battle for a roster spot because the Bears have only three experienced tackles: Henry Melton, Matt Toeaina and Stephen Paea, last year's second-round draft pick. The Buccaneers released McCargo this month. The Bills drafted him 26th overall in 2006, and his most productive season was 2007, when he played in all 16 games and made 29 tackles with 2 1/2 sacks. The 6-foot-2, 307-pounder appeared in four games for the Bucs last season. Pressley was a fifth-round pick of the Saints in 2008 and played in seven games in their 2009 Super Bowl season. He has been with the Colts, Broncos and appeared in one game last season with the Panthers. McCargo and Pressley were part of a tryout Thursday at Halas Hall that also included defensive tackle Trey Lewis and defensive end Cheta Ozougwu, sources said.

Yes I understand, but the main reason why we dont want Walker is he didn't play ST. Yes i know Thomas and Weems are no more than a #5 or #6 WR on some teams but we got them for ST first and WR last....lol
-
LOL you aaare funny.......We have Marshall and Jeffrey at 6'4 Thomas at 6'2 then we have the snurfs Bennett, Hesterr Weems and Knox if he gets well. All I'm saying is that with the new offense we wont need Walker. Thomas, Heste,r and Weems all play ST as were Walker does not. You and I both know that Marshall, Jeffrey, Bennett, Hester will be on the field and with Davis and Rodriguez at TE along with Forte(when signed) there is no need for Walker. Now you want to compare his numbers with Thomas and Weems......you are not seeing that Thaoms played for the Giants who have or had Barden, Cruz, Hixon, Nicks and Manningham so he wasnt getting time therer, anf Weems came from the Falcons who have White and Jones, Douglas, Meier and Gonzales at TE so Weems wasnt playing there other than St & mop up Now Walker played with ????????? you go and check thier roster and find a #1 is was Walker or he was the #2.
-
Ok I get your point, but the point is what would we do with him?He does not play special teams and is not that great of a WR. So where would he fit.. Lets just see....replace Marshall......well thats a big no, lets see again replace Jeffrey....I dont think so Jeffrey is younger, faster and a better target. moving on replace Bennett, I dont think that would be wise to replace one of Cutlers most dependable targets. So that leaves Hesters spot....now didn't they just say that they were going to have a Devin package this year so cant see him being replaced. So that leaves Thomas and Weems. Now Thomas and Weems are both WR and ST players with skills we need. So that si spots. Bottom line we dont need Walker.
-
IMHO if that is what you want to do....then so long. You need to get a grip and understand that no one is perfect including you. Why I'm sure theere have been times when you did something oout of your character because we all have at one time or another in our lives. You maybe the one cusing at someone because they cut you off in traffic......some minoe detail you may have forgotten. But i'm sure your parents have given you a punishment for something you did as a kid. Its funny that you say you will only buy throwbacks........but did or do you know that those guys cused, fussed, swore, fought, had parties more than the guys on the teams do now. They really were not choir boys back then.......So you go right ahead and not be a Bears fan because to me you never were if thats what you base your leaving on.

This is a point to agure with the Packers, Lions and Vikings but with the Bears trading for Marshall and drafting Jeffrey and having Bennett and Hester, with Knox and Thomas we seem to have a better core of players than the other three. Now this maybe is just IMHO the start of the Bears getting back in control of the Division. The Lions have the following players on their roster. 13 Burleson, Nate WR 6-0 198 30 10 Nevada-Reno 10 Harris, Marcus WR 6-1 185 23 1 Murray State 86 Hughes, Nate WR 6-2 195 27 3 Alcorn State 81 Johnson, Calvin WR 6-5 236 26 6 Georgia Tech 11 Logan, Stefan WR 5-6 180 27 4 South Dakota Long, Lance WR 5-11 186 27 2 Mississippi State 19 Toliver, Terrence WR 6-5 204 23 1 Louisiana State 16 Young, Titus WR 5-11 174 22 2 Boise State The Packers have the following players on their roster. 19 Borel, Diondre WR 6-0 199 23 1 Utah State 18 Cobb, Randall WR 5-10 192 21 2 Kentucky 80 Driver, Donald WR 6-0 194 37 14 Alcorn State 86 Gurley, Tori WR 6-4 232 24 1 South Carolina 85 Jennings, Greg WR 5-11 198 28 7 Western Michigan 89 Jones, James WR 6-1 208 28 6 San Jose State 87 Nelson, Jordy WR 6-3 217 26 5 Kansas State 16 Smithson, Shaky WR 5-11 202 24 2 Utah The Vikings have the following players on their roster. 17 Adams, Kris WR 6-3 194 24 0 Texas-El Paso 16 Arceneaux, Emmanuel WR 6-2 211 24 0 Alcorn State 19 Aromashodu, Devin WR 6-2 201 27 4 Auburn 11 Burton, Stephen WR 6-1 221 22 0 West Texas A&M 85 Childs, Greg WR 6-3 217 22 0 Arkansas 12 Harvin, Percy WR 5-11 184 23 3 Florida 84 Jenkins, Michael WR 6-4 214 29 8 Ohio State Jorden, Kamar WR 6-1 203 22 0 Bowling Green 81 Simpson, Jerome WR 6-2 190 26 4 Coastal Carolina 15 Taylor, Kerry WR 6-0 197 23 0 Arizona State 13 Walters, Bryan WR 6-0 190 24 0 Cornell 1 Wright, Jarius WR 5-10 180 22 0 Arkansas

LOL....Jeffrey just pushed him out of the way ike in a jump ball in basketball. These are the types of throws that Cutler will be making to Jeffrey and Marshall this year....the ones were the shorter DB cant get up to get. Red Zone look out.
