The Bears are making trades and getting players at the needed positions without the draft by way of FA. Does this set them up to make moves by trading picks in the draft to move up or down to get the player they really want. Let say they want Brockers, or Foyd in the first do they trade up if needed to get them or sit tight and let them fall.

Well I hope you were joking about Komar...because if you didn't already know the Bears cut him, so he wont be your dark horse this year.
-
Yes that's true....but i think that we wil do well this year because we seem to be on a mission.

The Chicago Bears worked out free-agent LBs Zac Diles (Buccaneers), Bryan Kehl (Rams) and Rocky McIntosh (Redskins) LB Gerris Wilkinson (Giants) LB Geno Hayes (Buccaneers)per league sources the past two days. I know we need help at LB but all these guys???

Someone at the TV networks must think we are going to be really good this year and great to watch. In all, the Bears play the NFL’s maximum of five prime time games, with three outings on ESPN’s "Monday Night Football," including contests at the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 21, and the San Francisco 49ers on Nov. 19 in Weeks 4 and 11, and a home date against the Detroit Lions in Week 7.

From what I'm hearing....all three Spencer, Williams and Louis all block better than this chilo Rachal dude. Maybe he is just going to be used for the training camp as a blocking dummy!

IMHO this is a bad pick up. Hell if he cant block in the 49ers run first system......with him and Webb on the opposite side they are going to get Culer killed

Bears bringing in Dont'a Hightower to visit and McIntosh....... they also waived Max Komar, so its going to be a LB in the draft or FA. I told Jason a while back that Komar wont see the roster this year......so who is next Sanazenbacher? Maybe if we are targeting a bigger WR like any one over 6'2 like Cutler has asked for. We brought in Randle maybe Hill/Quick and on the radar as well as Floyd if he slips that far to #19.

There are rumors going around the the Vikings #3, Rams#6 and the Seahawks #12 all might want to trade down in the draft this year. If so what spot would you trade for and what would you be willing to give up for that spot?
-
Ture it's not all dire, but we need improvement. We were on a roll at 7-3 last year with the same line. But we need improvement from them to keep Cutler from getting killed every week.

LOL....do you mean police or arrest?????

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=8743 Seems like the GM knows what he is doing and has a plan.

IMHO we need to do three things in this draft 1. Get a WR for the other side of Marshall to take the load off of him. Granted Cutler will be looking at throwing to him alot this year but this will take double coverages off Marshall by having another threat such as Marshall. Then we can use all the rest Bennett, Hester, Thomas Weems,Knox(if he plays) to control the underneath. And it doesnt have to be in RD1 2. The Bears HAVE to strengthen the D-line. Smith's whole defense depends on it. No one in the secondary comes close to covering ANY of the Packer WRs or Johnson with the Lions without pressure on the QB. Their chances begin and end right there... So maybe drafting a DT and DE in the first two RDs 3. Offensive line will have to be worked on. True we have C.Williams and G.Carimi coming back from injury, but Webb is the weak link here. This is the problem we faced last year Webb=7th RD shouldnt be a starter, C.Williams OT playing guard, not a true guard, Garza playing center is a true guard, Spencer playing guard is a ture center, Louis playing OT/OG is a true TE. Carimi playing RT and is a LT. Then we have Ricky Henry,Levi Horn, Reggie Stephens, Edwin Williams, and Mansfield Wrotto as backups????? We need improvement here!!!

I say smoked at Flordia with some money. smoked at UNA with limited money, in the NFL with lots of money??????????? its going to be puff, puff pass!!!!! Hell no!! let him smoke it up with some other team. Hey maybe he will be a good fit for the Detroit Smokers..oops I mean Lions!!!!!

I would surely take a look at the ones listed below becuase they can fill a need for us. Chris Greenwood, CB Albion The 6' 1 1/2" 193lbs CB prospect from Albion impressed scouts at his Pro Day with his amazing athleticism. He ran his forty yard dash timed at 4.34s. He continued his athletic display by posting an 11'2" broad jump and an amazing 43" vertical jump. He impressed every scout there but reported really drew the eyes of the Steelers scouts that were present. Korey Toomer OLB Idaho- Measuring 6'2" 236lbs Toomer put in an great performance for the scouts in attendance. He ran his forty yard dash in 4.49s, completed 20 reps at 225lbs in the bench. However the story of his work out was his vertical jump. He jump over the 40" maximum the device present could measure. Scout decided to credit it as 41". He tahn went on to perform brilliantly in drills for the eight teams there. Derek Carrier, WR Beloit- The 6'3" 240lbs prospect left scouts scrambling to get tape on him. He ran under a 4.5 40 yard dash reports estimate about a 4.47 had a 40 inch vertical leap a 10'2" broad jump and a ridiculous 6.67 3 cone drill time. He look fluid in his routes and by the end of his Pro Day had two dozen requests for game film by team officials.

Potter and Catthouse are the only picks i like out of this group

I agree with you on that one...lol

Right now what we need to draft are players that can get us to the next level by creating mismatches for the offense and defense of teams we play this year. 1st RD Floyd/Hill this gives us a two deep threat that teams will have too play honest defense and take the safety out of the box. 2nd RD Irvin DE/IB with his speed we can line him up as a pure situational pash rusher or on the TE either way Peppers and the speed of this guy will make QB'S throw the ball away more often or Curry. 3rd RD DT to fill in Anderson spot. 4th OT/CB, 5th LB BPA the rest
-
When you look at what we have done so far to the team....we have basically just filled the holes we had last year that lead to our 8-8 record. Backup QB, RB the positions that went down last year that hurt the most (we got better at the two spots), we signed two CB to fill in for Bowman and Graham (i think we got better there too)we got Weems and Thomas to fill in for Hurd and maybe Knox. We got the Beast (Marshall) to take the place of R.Williams. Now we lost two DT and a saftey. So reason will have us taking those postions in the draft. This is what I see us doing....getting the best players at the position of need. I dont think we go OT/OG in the first but maybe the third.
-
Not crazy....but i would rather draft a DT and a DE instead of just two DE'S. Maybe we could draft Brockers and Curry/Irvin

The big diference in kickoff and punt returns is the coverage from the other team. On kickoffs the special team units are taught to stay in their lanes when running down the field making it harder for the return man to find a lane to run to because the team has a running start from the line. But with punt returns the special teams unit have to fan out over the field after being held up at the line giving the returner better chances of finding lanes to run to. Every time Hester runs north and south..once he breaks that first wave the rest is history. Also on kickoffs you have faster guys CB, He should be used on both kickoffs and punts IMHO.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ Bears’ hope for Hester: Catch more passes, return fewer kickoffs Posted by Michael David Smith on April 10, 2012, 7:39 AM EDT Devin Hester may be the best return man in NFL history, but that doesn’t mean that’s his primary role in Chicago. The Chicago Tribune connects the dots with the addition of Eric Weems and Devin Thomas, two players with experience as kickoff returners, and notes that last year Johnny Knox averaged more yards per kickoff return than Hester, and says it all adds up to the Bears making Hester an integral part of the offense at wide receiver and cutting down on his kickoff returns. “We have that versatility now,” Bears coach Lovie Smith said. “We added another good player into the [kickoff-return] mix in Devin Thomas.” Chicago has pushed Hester as more of a receiver and less of a returner before, in 2009, when he had a career-high 57 catches and career lows in both kickoff returns (seven) and punt returns (24). Hester has always been a better punt returner than kickoff returner and will almost certainly remain the primary punt returner this year after leading the league with a 16.2-yard average last year. But on kickoff returns it appears that the Bears are ready to phase him out. Knox is recovering from a serious back injury and may not play in 2012, but the presence of Weems and Thomas will allow Hester to sit kickoffs out.
