Amobi Okoye, DL, Houston Texans Draft Pick: 10th overall in 2007 NFL draft from Louisville Career Statistics: 59 starts, 15.5 sacks and 165 tackles A lot of draft pundits were shocked when the Houston Texans spent the 10th overall pick of the 2007 NFL draft on this 19-year-old Nigerian, who was considered a physical beast but extremely raw. It isn't that Okoye didn't play decently in four seasons with the Houston Texans; it was more about the fact that he failed to grasp the nuances of the game and was extremely weak in several different categories. After a rookie season that saw him nab 5.5 sacks, he would just match that total over the course of the next three seasons. Adding insult to injury is the fact that Patrick Willis and Darrelle Revis were two of the next three players selected after Okoye—both future Hall of Fame players.
  2. If you look at the Alabama defense Upshaw was a better run defender than Anderson was so you could leave him on the field.
  3. If you really look at what we have done so far I would sat yes we are better than last year. QB=hell yes we got one starter and more experience as backups RB= yes All everything Forte and Bush who can do the same thingsas Fotre and Bell in the 3 slot WR= Yes got better by subtraction, we let Williams go and signed the Beast. Thomas & Weems. If we get (Hill or Quick)another one we are set. TE= yes I think wiith the exit of the Martz system Davis and company well be better, by the way Tice will use them OL= No, we got rid of Frank Q but we still need to improve at the LT and RG spots. DE= No Izzy & Wooten dont impress me. We need a force on the other side. DT= No We let two of our guys go so how can you be better LB = yes we still have the two Pro Bowler...but we need to start getting younger guys as backups CB= yes Graham and Bowman are gone so the two new guys Hayden and Wilhite should come to play S=Even we really need someone to push the two we have (Conte and Wright) maybe a guy like Barron from Alabama(wishing) ST =Yes we signed one beast from the 49ers, a pro bowl player from the Falcons and a Super Bowl champ So what we really need in the dearft is a OT/OG, WR, DE,CB, LB, S but maybe not in that order. I say build the offense first so we can score more than the other guys, This will help the defense the most. We play very different on defense when we are ahead by 14-20 points rather than when we are tied or behind.
  4. LOL you might be right...but at 42 I still can dunk a basketball so I might have a chance at a jump ball situation.....lol maybe
  5. Get the guy from Notre Dame in the second or third Harrison Smith. I do know that the Ravens really like Smith, who had 309 tackles and seven interceptions (all in his junior season) during his career at Notre Dame, and is considered the second-best safety in the draft behind Alabama's Mark Barron. Smith is quick, he has good range, he's a big hitter and he's also very good on special teams, so it's not hard to make the connection.
  6. Yes you are right....but these guys just crack me up trying to always get paid instead of trying to be on a winning team!!!!
  7. Yes you are right....but these guys just crack me up trying to always get paid instead of trying to be on a winning team!!!!
  8. LOL that was funny but good to hear....well i was thinking I played in high school and college at SS and I was thinking that I could have done what our current players are doing at that postion I tackled well and was good in the zone coverage......LOL granted I haven't played in a long time but I'm 6'1, 229lbs still run a 4.6 at my age...lol(need to lose 20lbs to get faster). My son keeps asking me to play for the semi-pro team here. But I might have trouble keeping up with the faster guys...lol. But my coaches from the past said i was a ball hawk with good range so i would fit in the cover two system just fine....But lol It was just a thought!!!!!!!
  9. I hope you are right, but then again who is to say that Okoye might see that his value in the FA market isn't what he liked and came back to a winner. Seriuosly the Bengas???? He thinks he can get a ring there faster than he can with the Bears last year was a fluke for both teams us losing and them winning????...........ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. It really doesn't reduce the chance, it just gives us more options. If you need the players sign them. The Bills needed a DE and signed Williams, but then turned around and signed Anderson. This would be sort of the same kind of transaction. Plus we need all the help we can get to protect Cutler.
  11. Good pick up for the team. Gives us depth with out spending an arm and a leg for the two CB. And they are an upgrade over Bowman and Graham. The packers beat Bowman up last year and Marshall played with Graham in the Pro Bowl....lol
  12. Lets say I wanted to play for the Bears. Can I walk on like some do in college or do I need an agent to get me a tryout?
  13. HA funny.....if Urlacher would play faster to get off the blocks then the type of jersey he wears doesn't matter as for "then Webb will not be able to hold em' either" same applies to him......if he blocked someone then he will not have to hold them!!!!!!
  14. No stay where we are...we might just want to trade up to get someone we NEED instead of just getting picks for someone we LIKE
  15. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...story?track=rss Bears coach Lovie Smith said the team still has plans to add a safety either via free agency or through the draft.
  16. LOL I don't know much about them either but they can't be worse than Graham and Bowman. I think we wanted Hayden last year before he signed with the Falcons.
  17. We that's good news to me.....at least they are looking for the fit fit, cheaper option. But that just tells me that they know what I knw that our Oline needs so work to get us to the next level. So with the draft coming up, and then the roster cut downs, players released, we can have a good line to help Cutler and the Beast have a good year.
  18. No the players can wear team colored cheats..they just cant wear the one like Bennett and Johnson were fined for wearing the all orange or the all gold ones.
  19. I guess the heads of states(Goverment) dont see the money they can make if the just make the stuff legal. I had never seen or heard of anyone going on a killing spree from smoking it.LOL.....well maybe they went to McDonald and bought out the menu and killed all the hamburgers because they were hungry as hell. But really you smoke it and two things happen(seen this from my college friends) you get relaxed and go to sleep and you get the urge to eat up everything you see. These are really bad side effects?????? LOL
  20. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?STORY_ID=8716 McShay sees Bears drafting Stanford tackle By: Larry Mayer | Last Updated: 4/2/2012 9:23 AM In his latest mock draft, ESPN analyst Todd McShay is predicting that the Bears will select Stanford offensive tackle Jonathan Martin with the 19th pick in the first round. Jonathan Martin “Martin needs to add some strength, but he could pair with 2011 first-round OT Gabe Carimi to give offensive coordinator Mike Tice a pair of bookends to coach up,” McShay writes. McShay also believes that the Bears will choose Clemson tight end Dwayne Allen in the second round (50th overall). The Bears have seven picks in the 2012 draft, one in each round. In Rounds 3-7, they have the 79th, 111th, 150th, 184th and 220th selections.
  21. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ Demetrius Bell will visit Packers this week Posted by Mike Florio on April 3, 2012, 10:01 AM EDT Getty ImagesFree-agent tackle Demetrius Bell is getting around. Which means he’s not getting the kind of offer he wants. His free-agent tour will continue this week with a visit to the Packers, according to Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Bell most recently visited the Steelers and Eagles. He was a seventh-round pick of the Bills in 2008.

    In all honesty...

IMHO the way our team is built we dont need to go out and sign big impact guys, just solid one's that fit our system. I team can have too many stars and not mix well together. What we need are solid guys at the right positions where we need them. Look at the Texans on offense....other than Johnson and Foster who are their impact players and on Defense .......gone are Williams and Ryans? Now we have Marshall and Forte....Peppers, Urlacher similar. What we need is and offense that can win games like we were last year(11-5) going 5 straight wins in a row and this past year too. If we have a plan like the Reskins and buy all the high priced FA and they are busts and and then trade all our picks away...we will be the botton feeders in the NFC North like they are in the east.
  23. Silly discussions???? I get great value out of what others are thinking on this borad about our team.

    In all honesty...

Reason we are not-----Bell was hurt and so was McNeil, Webb wasn't good, but he has not had an injury and knows the blocking routines already and we are looking to the draft. But still I would at least look into them
