  1. I dont really despise the notion of Wright at #19 would be good. But I really think for what we are goig to be doing on offense this year we need to get either Floyd or Hill to put on the other side of Marshall. This give us two down the field weapons that most DB'S can't mach up with. We have our two speed guys in Hester and Knox(if he's back from injury) and the sure thing in Bennett, with Weems playing his ST role. The throw in the big TE Davis and Forte....we will have an offense that teams will really have to game plan for and not just blitz all the time. Now Oline is not a major weakness but its a concern maybe if we can get either Bell or Collins in FA we will have less to worry about. After a WR in RD 1 we need to go get the BPA at what we need..OT, CB, LB are the three areas we need the most.
  2. The only one we really need would be Lawson put that height, speed as a rush LB look out QB and that line that's , trying to doube team Peppers here comes Manny!!!....lol . Linebacker Manny Lawson — The 22nd pick in the 2006 draft, Lawson has disappointed as an NFL pass rusher with 16 sacks through six seasons. Lawson is a freak athlete at 6-foot-5, 240 with low-4.4 speed and a 40-inch vertical, however, and he’s wicked smart (43 Wonderlic score). Lawson can set the edge against the run and has always been effective in coverage. With experience in both 3-4 and 4-3 schemes, Lawson should be generating more interest than he has so far.
  3. It would I agree but thats too many picks we would be losing for Marshall and Ryan.
  4. I say cut Barber sign Bush. Then we will have a great one two punch even though Bell was ok....keep his fumbling ass of the field. Now we still have a need at LT,WR, CB, DE, LB and Safety which I think we will fill in the draft, unless they go after Bell OT from the Bills or Collins OT from the Bengals. Hawthorne at LB, as the last additions headed into the draft.
  5. With Marshall and others signed this year there is no reason we can't be 12-4 this year. Hell last year we were 8-8 with games we should have won Chiefs, Broncos,Lions,Raiders, Seahawks four with our our star QB and RB. we got blown out in the Saints game and against Seattle. The packers can be beaten (Chiefs) so we can win the division again. My take is this Lions building a good defense but no running game will kill them. Packers good passing game running game kills them...(this year) Vikins No passing game and AP won't be the same we stop Toby and Harvin we win the divion at 5-1 We beat Packers and they lose to the Lions.
  6. Yes so true.....look for Hester to be used on more WR screens and trick plays, reverses. But what comes to mind is lining two WR to one side and Hester on the other side having him motion to the two WR side and Cutler throwing him the ball with two WR blocking for him. If we get two good blocks and a cut back to the middle behind the LB'S then Hester is gone to the house.. I remember he took a slant in the middle of the field to the house against the Seahawks one year.
  7. I think that by doing what the trainers ask him to do he is rehabing hard. Sometimes injury you have just needs rest and to be off of it. I strained my knee once in college and hard working it during rehab actually made it worse. Then I iced it then heated it and stayed off using it (other than walking) then it came around faster. But once he gets into that window the will speed up the intensity to get it back where it needs to be
  8. What that means to me is that Cutler will be rolling out more throwing on the move so our line won't have to block for 5 seconds while he stays in the pocket. it also means more WR screens to Hester in space so he can do what he does best make people miss. Overall if they used some of the plays they used in Denver...expect Marshall to get alot thrown at him short and deep, then mix in our our WR'S we are going to be pretty damn good in the passing agme.
  9. If you like Wright at #19 what would you say if the Bears gave that pick to Pittsburg for RFA Mike Wallace?
  10. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/ChalkTalk...p?STORY_ID=8696 With the Bears signing punt and kickoff returner Eric Weems, do you think they will—dare I say it—look to trade Devin Hester? Why else would they add a Pro Bowl return specialist? The Bears didn’t sign Eric Weems because they wanted to push Devin Hester out the door or reduce his role. They’ve always believed in having as many good returners on the roster as possible, and that’s why they made the move. Weems, who was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2010 as a special teams player, also has excelled covering punts and kickoffs. I recently asked general manager Phil Emery about Hester’s role and he said: “We have a very dynamic plan for Devin. He will continue to return punts and kicks. We have a great tradition here in Chicago in terms of having multiple kick and punt returners. Johnny Knox and Devin, Danieal Manning. So we’ve had a really good mix. As coach [Lovie] Smith says, ‘You can’t have enough good returners and you can’t have enough good players.’ So we see Eric and Devin mixing very well. Devin’s going to have lots of roles. He’s going to play wideout. … Coach [Mike] Tice with his offense may surprise a few people in terms of how he’s going to use Devin.” How has Brandon Marshall fared against the Bears’ division opponents? Brandon Marshall has averaged nearly 100 yards per outing against the Bears’ three division opponents. In two career games versus each team, he has compiled 19 receptions for 198 yards against the Lions, 13 catches for 201 yards versus the Packers and 14 receptions for 185 yards and one touchdown against the Vikings. He’s had a 10-reception, 100-yard game against all three clubs: 127 yards on 10 catches at Green Bay, 114 yards on 10 catches at Minnesota and 102 yards on 10 catches versus Detroit. What’s the latest on Johnny Knox’s recovery from that horrible back injury? Do you think he’ll be healthy enough to start training camp? That remains to be seen. I can tell you that I see Johnny Knox at Halas Hall every day working hard to get back on the field. Here’s what Lovie Smith said recently about Johnny’s recovery: “I just know that every day Johnny is here; it’s like he’s on staff here. Every day you see him rehabbing you get more and more confident for him to recover from his serious injury. He’s come a long ways and he has a long ways to go.” Maybe this is the reason we still draft another WR
  11. Looking at what we have done so far and what other teams added and lost how many games do you see us winning this year. The bold are home games. Chicago Bears vs.Green Bay Packers Chicago Bears vs.Detroit Lions Chicago Bears vs.Minnesota Vikings Chicago Bears vs.San Francisco 49ers Chicago Bears vs.Seattle Seahawks Chicago Bears vs.Houston Texans Chicago Bears vs.Indianapolis Colts Chicago Bears vs.Carolina Panthers Green Bay Packers vs.Chicago Bears Detroit Lions vs.Chicago Bears Minnesota Vikings vs.Chicago Bears Arizona Cardinals vs.Chicago Bears St Louis Rams vs.Chicago Bears Jacksonville Jaguars vs.Chicago Bears Tennessee Titans vs.Chicago Bears Dallas Cowboys vs.Chicago Bears
  12. Good!!! He's a Bronco and we won't play him for another four years....now the Colts will be sorry again with new comer Luck...and the 49ers will have Smith and he wont go to the Titians so we have a chance in three games to win. We should be able to whip that whole division (Texans,Titans, Jaguars, Colts) with the addition of Marshall and Campbell( just in case) and getting what we need tin the draft (Floyd/Hill) and a OT.
  13. RD 1 Floyd/Hill WR RD 2 Kelechi Osemele OG/ Zebrie Sanders OT RD 3 Trumaine Johnson CB/S RD 4 Irvin DE/OLB RD 5 Andrew Datko OT RD 6 Kheeston Randall DT RD 7 Justin Bethel CB
  14. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ Wimbley is “close” to agreeing on a five-year contract to take his talents to Tennessee.
  15. I think he signed with a team that was not chasing Manning or another QB so that he can have a chance to start. He will be the starter with the Seahawks over Jackson.
  16. Yes that could be done but you have to look at who we signed instead of the rookies...we signed a pro bowler in Weems (replace Hurd) on special teams along with a beast in Costanzo (replace Graham) also we don't really need them to play if we still have our guys and stay away from injuries. Other than ST when did Graham and Hurd play???? When Moore was hurt and when Bennett was down. So we are going to see the Bears draft 1. WR, 2. OT/OG, 3. 1 or 2 CB, 4. LB then BPA

    If WE

Ok yes he did....I know that but Jackson and Marshall still would have been taller than Knox while they were on their knees....LOL But really the whole obsession with the height is to give our QB a wider target to throw to thereby making some of the passes he does throw off target seem to be on target. Just take a look back at all the passes that went to our short WR that were a little high and they made no effort to catch them....but with the added height those passes would be right on. Cutler is good at fitting the ball in a tight window......but when that widow gets expanded he will be even better. QB's don't make WR look good....its the WR catching everything the QB throws that makes the QB look good, but even more so when the QB just has to get the ball in the area of the WR. Case in point look at Johnson from the Lions. Hell how many jump ball throws did he catch...the taller Jackson from the Chargers have a field day against us.

    If WE

QUOTE (jason @ Mar 18 2012, 07:17 PM) For the life of me I just do not understand this rationale. Could you try to explain it to me? I seriously don't understand how an intelligent Bears fan who has seen the games the last few seasons could not consider the OL to be either the #1 priority or at least in consideration for the #1 priority. Any 1st round OT would start over Webb, and any 1st round OG would start at RG over Louis/E.Williams. This is especially true since you call for a first round WR, a position that traditionally takes a while to develop. I'm glad to see that what I have been saying about the WR position makes sense to someone other than myself. Sure we need help at other positions but we were doing great at the time winning 5 games in a row until Cutler got hurt and not by a sack either but by trying to tackle a guy after throwing an int to one of our short WR'S . But that was without a number one WR or the threat by our WR's. Now that we have a true #1 and may draft another for the other side.....teams wil have to back off and respect our passing game, thus giving our line more time to block with less players to block. Now Green and Jones are good WR'S...and Marshall is a step above them but if you add another WR on the other side then you will give the defense trouble (Like Jones & White in ATL) and that will open up our offense to be in position to take advantage of the defense. We are still going to get help i the draft and FA for our line....because the GM has said so....just not picing up scrubs and injury prone players, but getting the ones the really fit our needs..
  19. He has it figured out and he told you at the press conference. We will work on the line throght the draft and if we get a chance to pick up a good OL in FA then we will but he is not going to over spend on scrubs or injury prone players......And that works for me!!!
  20. Well it looks like the Packers will be in trouble (like we were last year) if Rodgers goes down, they now have Harrell and Hill as backups......lol neither has even played in a game.
  21. Oh yes we had a place for him. Gabe played both the left and right side so has Webb but I'm sure Winston would have been an upgrade over Webb at LT
  22. Well not really, if I line up at WR two or three guys that are 6'4 against the average CB/saftey at 5'11 who has a better chance of making a catch. The tall WR also allows the QB to not always be perfect in his throws because a bigger WR has a wider wing span than a shorter guy. Now do you perfer Hester/knox or bennett running the fade route or jump ball at the goal line....advantage DM at 6'4.....Do you remember playing with your kids (if you have them) and holding the ball over your head so they cant get it because you were taller than them....ha ha ha. The height just opens our QB and WR to do more in the passing game thantey have done with the smurfs we have in Hester,Bennett and Knox.
  23. We need to have him out of our divison becasue if he goes to the 49ers he will be throwing to Manningham, Michael Crabtree and Randy Moss. And we play them this year!
  24. Yes i get and see your points but we truely need another WR opposite of Marshall. We need a bigger target for Cutler than the 5'11 guys we have. True indeed there may be a better playess than Floyd/Hill in the draft but you cant discount the numbers they put up and their size. This whole thing has gotten out of control and our different views have taken over in place of reason. The reason I was on board with getting three WR in the first place was this......We didnt have a true#1 WR, Hurd/Williams gone, Knox hurt might not play so thats three WR that you may or will be missing. I would wait until camp and see about Knox....if not good then he goes on IR for the year. Now you have a hole to replace....if not think about it this way...........if You had a serious back injury and came back to play would you be your regluar self........or MORE prone to protect yourself. ( That means scared to go over the middle, alliagator arms, shying away from contact...do you want that out of a starting WR??? But either way we got Marshall, signed Weems(for Hurd) but we could use another WR either FA or the draft a taller on like Cutler asked for 6'2 and above. But i never said we need to get three in FA and the drat another one...that I agree would be crazy for what our team still needs and holes yet filled. WR,OT,DE CB,LB are the positions I see us drafting this year.
  25. Ha it took Manning Brees, Rodgers, Brady and a few others 0.68 to get sacked uuuummm yes you are right. But what you don't understand is that when you use these sets you already know you are going to throw the ball quickly...thats why you spread the defense out......so they cant rush and bring the house.....and if they do.. one quick pass can go for 20+ yards everytime!!!!
