The Ben Johnson Effect
I agree they are playing well, but Dexter is not up to his draft status and Jarrett is below his contract. Both seem like good team mates.

Fat Contracts...
I do have a post 6/1 trade that would be beneficial for both teams. KC is looking to get better at WR, so they are a good partner. Send DJ to them for Chris Jones. I think Jones would pick up his play with a change of scenery. KC has become stagnant from success and could use the spark DJ could provide.

The Ben Johnson Effect
For the dline, Dexter will probably be asked to beef up a little more and become the full time 1T. He simply isn't a 3T. He still doesn't have a get off on the snap. On passing downs, Sweat, Turner, Dayo and Booker would be a possibility. I don't like Turner and Dayo right now, due to their injury status. I expect a heavy investment on defense in the draft, with the only offensive players being OL and RB. I don't believe we make a big trade OR signing for a stud EDGE player. (The only way I see that occurring is if we also trade away some of our assets). It could happen. It's unfortunate that Jarrett, Dayo, Dexter and Turner were busts this year.

Fat Contracts...
Agreed on post 6/1 trades. They would probably only happen if someone gets hurt on another team. I posted โpost 6/1โ to show the largest savings on cap and dress money. Side note: DJ's $ is fixed above.

Fat Contracts...
If OTC is correct, we are projected to have 1.4 million in cap space next year. That's not good considering the free agents we will have. I looked at a few contacts that may be overvalued and the best scenario. From left to right (player, cap#, dead money, savings and action taken) DJ 28,4,24 Trade Post 6/1 Edmunds 17, 2,15 Trade Pre or Post 6/1 Dayo 20,0,7 Restructure Jarrett 19,4,15 Trade Post 6/1 Johnson Can't cut, trade or restructure. Gordon 23,2,11 Trade post 6/1 Chart is ugly. I don't think a miracle is gonna happen with Gordon or Jarrett. DJ and Edmunds can get us 39 million back if traded. Add in 7 mil for Dayo for 46 mil. I didn't put Sweat, Jackson, Dalman or Thuney on the list, due to them playing commensurate to their value. They can be traded post 6/1 for savings, if needed. The bummer of it is that bone of the above has good value being traded to gain picks on the upcoming draft. For that weed have to look at guys on their rookie contract. Y'all feel to add or correct, as this is definitely not my wheelhouse.

If you remember Jason's lament, we always make a no name QB the player of the week. That being said, last week's loss should provide ample motivation. At the end of the day, they still have Miles Garrett. Any given Sunday...

The coldest for me was the game that would send either us or the Packers to the playoffs. Rodgers came back from the collar bone injury to kill us with a desperation 45 yard touchdown on 4th and 8. I think the wind-chill was 8ยฐ.

I agree that he's flawed. The one thing he does, is find a way to win, late. Justin and Mitch did not have that. Reducing sacks is worth the loss on completion percentage. Points, yardage and wins are up. Please allow him to get comfortable in a system.

Caleb has gone from running for his life and getting sacked, to scrambling and not getting sacked. The completion percentage has not changed. So far, the net is huge. Sacks are down and third down conversions and big plays are up. (Wins too). He's trending good...

After rewatching the game, a few things stood out. We don't have the personnel to effectively run DA's defense. GB's OL is elite at pass pro, but damn we can't generate pressure. Our defensive front seven is easily the slowest in the NFL.(Brisker, CJGJ, JJ and Dexter were terrible yesterday). Despite some poor play, hats off to them for making some improvements and key stops in the second half. Looking forward, the fat contracts of Sweat, Jarrett, Johnson, Dayo and Gordon are going to strongly hinder Poles ability to reshape next year. Improvements should be made, the above will hinder and that hurts. Offensively, Caleb was terrible and brilliant at the same time. Does he hate DJ Moore? I'm absolutely convinced he will be traded. While Caleb's accuracy is killing them, his elusiveness is killing the opposing D. Ben Johnson called his worst game yesterday. Our OL was dominating the second half and he took their feet off their respective throats. He blew it. Enough of the complaining from me. Our team did what it's done lately; fight hard and play opportunistic. I expect something cleaner in two weeks. We may lose, because I think GB is the more complete team. The eye test tells me they are better, especially in pass pro and defensive front seven.

As long as we win games, it will be long.

He's coming off major surgery. Being on a snap count can sometimes throw you off rhythm. As he continues to get snaps, the expectations should grow. Gordon is the one to worry about. People who, supposedly, get injured in pregame warmups don't want to play. CJ Gardner is not the answer. I saw a tremendous amount of undisciplined play from him today.

Since January, Ben Johnson has been rebuilding the culture and installing a new offense with DA installing a new defense. Since BJ's introductory presser, LeFluer and his assistants have been planning for this day. It's been positively stated that BJ pissed off the entire Packer organization with his comments. Sometimes there are reckonings. Let's see who adjusts...

I'll have to argue that Philly was our biggest test on the road. They were higher ranked, coming off a loss, rabid fans and the defending SB champs. Looking forward, we have GB and SF on the road. Both will be measuring stick games.

2026 Roster - Early Look
One thing I like about this topic is that this will be the first true Johnson off season. The reason I say this is because BJ now knows who his go-to guys are. We may have some shocking moves that we didn't see coming. Of course DA will have strong input as well. Lastly, I'm predicting Cunningham will finally get his GM job.

Year 2 QB QBR Tracker
He's a Drew Brees clone. Weak arm, good release, good accuracy, smart, and hard working. He absolutely can not perform Caleb's greatest trait of driving balls in the deep middle. Honestly, that separates Caleb from everyone in his class except Drake Maye. Drew Brees made his bones throwing balls into the intermediate zones by placing a ball where his receiver could catch and run.
