In re-watching the game I noticed an RPO that Fields missed on 4th and two. It was actually a beautiful play by Nagy and was perfectly executed by everyone but the rookie. The defender makes the play along the red line. Fields misses the read. If he pulls the ball and follows Ridley it's a possible TD. Look for this play in the future. Side note: Jason Peters is still a stud. His feet are amazingly agile for a man his size. He also had zero issues getting to the second level. Praying father time holds off one more year.

Two points to consider is that Cam wants to start and that he is not vaccinated. The last thing you want is for your backup to be unavailable due to protocol.
-
Yeah but Cam is terrible. His arm is shot.
-
No. Peters told Philly that he wanted to play one more season. They have two young tackles that they slated for their starters and chose not to resign Peters. His injury was a broken toe that he played with for seven weeks.

If Trubisky could hit a downfield throw, he would have been closer to 66-800 last year. I'm going 70-950 for him and 95-950 for Robinson. 70-900 for the TE's and 700 for the rest...

I have a few roster thoughts. Get a starting tackle in here now! Ifedi is not it. Peters will get there, but may not last a season. Okung is still out there. I read where three may be a few teams interested in Foles. Pray pray pray that happens, because his money would go a long way. Lastly, there are some really deep teams out there. We should definitely look at the Colts, Bills, Browns and 49ers practice squads for DB help. We may not get a starter, but definitely upgrade our depth.

Robinson is still in play. The Bears can extend or franchise him for the second time. My issue with Pace is that he's put us in the position to not have the ability to sign guys by doling out big free agent contracts because we don't have natural depth from the draft.
-
Agreed. Ridley will be gone as well due to more competitive depth.

The same bad theme keeps cycling through my brain; Pace with another trade down, then a free agent overpay, Nagy with another dumb decision and so on. In just this year, Pace has brought us Andy Dalton at the cost of Kyle Fuller. While I agreed with the trade for Fields, the 'meh' was for trading yet another pick for Jenkins when we could have gotten a tackle with our pick.(but no, he falls in love with certain players) He simply could have kept Trubisky on a cheap deal, kept Fuller, drafted Fields and we'd be stronger. Nagy is just Nagy. He is and will be remembered as the Wile E Coyote of coaches. He gets all of the ACME products to make the perfect rocket and ? ?! Then he has a real life sidekick that seems to quietly produce and yet Nagy sees it and says, "I can improve upon that!" So what happens, decline. Yet again, he had a whole off season to see Lasor was better for him and the team, but decides he is best. Then he lands at the bottom of the cliff to fight again another day. I'm just over it. Also, I truly believe they are using the development of Justin Fields to buy another year in 2022. I can hear them telling the brass, "wait till next year, it's gonna be just like Mahomes. Matt knows how it was done."

I would cut my mother for a good OT! Graham and Trevathon would be nothing in the grand scheme.
-
Give this one a day or three to percolate. Peters will solidify a position for a little while. They still need another starting OT. I'm starting to believe Fields is the only option and I didn't want it to be that way.

Quinn did the basics of his job, but should have trusted the corner more. Ogletree was late. Jackson is the same pu$$y he was last year.
-
Agreed! Today please...

Biggest thing in a Bears uniform since Ted Washington.

I've waited to post to see if they'd get someone else in here. Ok, so we signed Jason Peters. What's next? We need another tackle. Peter's was slated to play right guard last year for Philly, because they replaced him at LT. He had to move back to LT due to injury. He played ok, but got hurt and only played 8 games. He's a future HOF, but he's 39. Let's go to Ifedi. He's missed all of training camp because of a conditioning drill. I don't trust that at all. He's a marginal player anyway, so just cut him and sign Russell Okung. I'm sick of this crap. Get someone in here now.

I don't like the silence about Jenkins, but I do like what they are doing with him. He missed the last three games of the season last year with a lumbar strain. That's exactly what he's dealing with now. The bears are holding him out and taking it slow, like any back issue should be handled. They are more than likely retraining his core in an attempt to salvage his future, because if he is in and out, out will win. I'm glad they are handling of the way they are and am also hopeful they can fix his issue.

I wouldn't stress about it. That's a thing they do in camp. Notice how every kick was returnable. They place the greatest amount of stress on them so they can evaluate.

When Fields entered the game the offense was completely out of rhythm. It stayed that way through his first couple drives. After that I saw three plays I really liked. Of course I loved his TD run, but Mitch could have done that. The first play I liked was one where he was rolling to the right and patiently hit the receiver that was breaking free. Two was his long run. Only two players in the NFL make that run, Fields and Lamar Jackson. The only difference, Lamar would've scored, yet Fields just glides at that speed. Third was the TD to James. When you show elite arm strength and it looks effortless as you are rolling right and throwing left. Impressive. I know it's only preseason, but I have a feeling the game is going to really slow down for him at a rapid rate. Great debut.
-
Bout time. Okung is waiting for a payday around 12 mil. I'm not sure he's worth that with his health concerns. If we can get him for 8, expect a Graham or Ifedi cut. James is looking good in camp, so Graham is an overpriced luxury. Once they see what they really need to upgrade or where they know they are set, we will see a move or two.
-
Completely agree. I was on the Carmen and Jurko show a couple of weeks ago stating the exact same point. They both wanted Fields and I pointed the OL and lack thereof. Jurko has since sided with me.
-
I'm looking for Graham to be a surprise cut in order to sign LT help. Look for Okung or Peters, maybe both.

I watched NFL Network today and they were at Bears camp. Darnell Mooney and Allen Robinson impressed the heck outta me. Barring injury, we gotta ink Robinson to a deal. Mooney has been breaking ankles in his routes.
