I'm not sold on them being generational talents. When I think of generational, it's a guy like Miles Garrett or Joey Bosa. These defensive linemen get hurt at a very high rate, so if there is a shadow of a doubt whether they are elite, I gotta trade and get more. I'll do more homework on them. It would be better for our draft and/or trade value if they have it.

You are correct in that pro bowl players make it commensurate to their draft position. They key you are missing is the volume destroys that cushion and surpasses. This team currently needs, at least, 8 upgrades at starting positions to become a playoff team. Those first rounders can be signed elsewhere too. Thing is, that statistic is to shine light that these players were resigned/extended because their respective teams wanted them. At this point in building this team, I'll take 120% over 40%. That may change the following year, but not this. My pipe dream still remains, that we trade with the Colts. After that, we can parlay as the draft unfolds.

I read the article's and left overwhelmed with statistical information. So, I concentrated on our situation and focused on the early rounds. Since a first round pick has a 40% chance to be re-signed and a second rounder is 30%, I'm doing the math. Our current pick is worth 2600. That is worth 4 seconds and 2 thirds. Since 2nds re-sign at a 30% rate, I'm seeing 120% + the 3rds value vs 40% of the first. If there is a way to parlay the #2 into four 2nds and two 3rds, I gotta take it. That would give us five 2nd, three 3rd, two 4th, three 5th and two 6th. Instant depth! That is 15 picks. I don't like the idea of drafting that many, but twelve sounds good. Poles could move three of the picks to the following year to keep the pick coffers full. I would definitely go after Payne. The trade scenario, above, also doesn't take Buckner out of the equation. With our 12 picks, I would draft 3 DL, 2 WR, 2 OL, 1 TE, 1 LB, 1 RB and 2 DB. (All using BPA approach) Next year is not the Superbowl window anyway. Next year is about finishing the foundation. I would hate not have a 1st, but the trade bounty calculates to be 3x more successful. Stats aren't my thing, so IMO this is all hypothetical.

Slants and quick outs are dangerous passes for him because of his arm slot and slow release. Batted passes and jumped routes increase dramatically. He spent off season working on it, but it's not there yet. He needs separated receivers over the DL's mitts.

I've seen better brakes on a sled. If he can't stop any faster than that, he's not an NFL caliber reciever. That is a bread and butter route for any player that works the outside.

I call him a unicorn. There's nothing like him, especially when passing comes to fruition. Buffalo had and still has a far superior OL. Plus, Allen broke out when they went out and got him Stephon Diggs. Fields still needs that guy. It is imperative they do their diligence to get the perfect WR for Fields.

In looking looking at Whitehair's contact, I can't decide on whether it would be good or bad to cut him. He's due 12, 12 and 1 mil for the next three seasons, so he's not terribly expensive, and his cap hits are big. I guess it comes down to how much they value continuity and what they think of his performance.

I like the Elgton Jenkins idea. How much do you think he'll cost?

He did this while they were winning. Insane! His red flags were well known. Very glad we didn't draft him.

The more I look at it, it has become clear that the OL will be easier to fix than the DL and WR groups. We've seen the success that Cincy had in fixing their OL this year and KC last year. Another year under their belt will help the young guys tremendously. The biggest thing will be to obtain a dominant center and a versatile OT. I'm still in the pipe dream of signing Payne and trading for Buckner, then going for good fortune in the draft. We literally need all 4 spots upgraded. Most important is the WR upgrade. We currently have a number two and a bunch of 3's through 5's. St Brown is a good blocker, but his route running ability, body control and hands are below average. He can be credited for Justin's first INT last Sunday. Pringle is a good blocker and decent route runner, but at 6' you must be able to separate. Harry, see St Brown. Claypool has a chance, but his body control and willingness to be physical comes into question. Tomlin brought Brandon Marshall and Ryan Clark in to work with him in training camp. It was clear during this time that Marshall and Clark were physically instructing him on how to use his physicality. The results were mixed. Pettis is probably the best at getting separation, besides Mooney. Velus is a work on process. I can see its go into next season with Mooney, Pettis, Claypool, Jones and two picks. The reason it will be important to load up on WR earlier is that they tend to take longer to develop. We want them ready for the window in 2024.

Don't get me wrong when I say rusty. Late off the ball and playing a little tight to Jenkins is all part of not playing in a long time and overanalyzing to NOT make mistakes. That being said, he's better than Borom.

He had one complete whiff and rest was rusty looking.

It's time to see if Leatherwood has learned anything from our coaches. In a year and a half, he went from Outland Trophy winner to being cut. He is prototypical talent, the dirt on him is that his initial punch is too low causing him to be imbalanced. What he does do well is run block. In pass pro, he has good feet and assignment recognition, ironically the very traits that Borom lacks. It was mentioned by someone that maybe he could move inside. My response to that is; if he can't figure out whether to block the guy to the left or the right as a tackle, he ain't gonna figure it out as a guard. Borom's brain is stuck in the mud and I don't think it's fixable. He's going to get someone hurt. Also time to see Eiselin. Mustipher has the same issue of NOT knowing the best guy to pickup.

This is exactly it. He is producing at a high level when the gaps aren't as tight as they should be. And he's fast enough if plays his assignments right.

Going Forward with Mooney, Claypool, Pettis, St Brown and Jones is my choice. I don't care much for Prince and Harry. Hopefully, we can find a dynamic reciever in the draft.

Great work Adam! The options are great at this point. This will be an exciting off season. The highlight of all of this is that the entire NFL knows this will be the place to be.

I remember Polian saying a team needs 12-14 blue chip players to contend. Blue chip in the NFL is an above average starter. I think we currently have 6-7. Listening to help this morning, he said he expects 20 new players on the roster next year. That may be radio drama, but I can see at least 16. Probably, 7-8 roster upgrades via FA and draft, with at least 4 big upgrades. The rest would be UDFA and prove it deals. How many do y'all think?
