Amen. Never underestimate how much play action means to Trubisky. Everything starts there.

Crazy, I was just getting ready to reach out on this thread. On Fox, I personally think he deserves a ton of credit for the 2018 team. He was also on record for wanting to draft Desaun Watson in lieu of Trubisky. I was reading draft projects for the upcoming draft. Good news on both major need fronts. 8 of the top 100 prospects are QB's. Then, we have 11 OT's in the top 100, making it the deepest class in years. If we can get two of those eleven, I would gladly squeeze your QB in there. (As long as they let the line gel before playing the youngin)

I agree under normal circumstances. We've seen this too many times for it to be normal. Full measures must be taken. I guess I'm shell shocked about the incompetence of Pace.

It's chicken and egg Adam and you are totally failing to see the point. Maybe I have failed to make it. We agree that the most important position on a football team is quarterback. That's really not debatable. Was is debatable is the chicken vs the egg. My argument for OL increases the odds of success of the quarterback. (I mean any quarterback) I forget the name of the guy that took the Patriots to playoffs after Brady blew his knee out. He came in and succeeded with that no name receiver group, but he had a really good offensive line and got it done. Then, he went free agent and got paid huge money. Guess what? OL was not good where he went and tanksville went his career. We have seen it over and over. At this point, it's all about philosophical differences. If you think any drafted quarterback can survive this shit show, I love your faith. With our cap situation, potentially losing our #1 receiver and needing OL, QB, WR, S and EDGE, our team cannot sustain a me QB. I just want us to be patient and do it the safe way, so we don't waste another top pick.

I'd take Vic back in a heartbeat to run the defense. Not sure if he's a long term answer for HC. Just say no to Harbaugh. I seriously hate that guy.

All had good lines and receivers as you mentioned. Thanks for solving the mystery.

Name one that wasn't highly mobile.

I remember. Thing is, they both had a decent situation to go to. Do you honestly think Mahomes would be what he is on the Browns? And no more FA linemen. They are let go for a reason, older and more expensive than a draft choice. My opinion will not be swayed on the matter and urgency of drafting and developing our OL and DL. They make the QB good to great.

That seems correct. That's how wee got Foles so cheap. Jacksonville ate his bonus.

My guess is that we end up around 11-12. Nagy is going to do everything he can to get wins for his resume. (Lol, maybe that helps ensure a loss) Completely disagree with drafting a QB. That is going to be a hot button topic until draft day, maybe after. IMO, we will be worse next year and have a better position to draft our QB. At that time, our rookie OT's will be in their second year. Put the infrastructure in place before the QB. (Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, Mahomes, Flacco, Dilfer, Johnson, Wilson and Rodgers all had that luxury) That's fifteen of the last twenty Superbowl champs.

One addition: Fire Pace now. Two GM's are already gone, so they are ahead of us until we sack Pace. We could literally hire the new GM now and he can get a head start.

Here we go. The defense has quit on Nagy and Pagano. Multiple times last night I watched Fuller, Gipson, Jackson, Mack and Roquan easing up on plays. They were dead all game. Everyone saw it. Pagano has the reputation of being a good guy coach, from Baltimore to Indy. He was fired from Indy because he was so good to the players that needed a boot up their ass and didn't hold everyone accountable that he lost the team. I witnessed it, as I live just outside of Indy. Pagano is done here. Again, I would seriously try to trade Jackson, Hicks, Mack and Fuller and rebuild. (What's the dead money for trading these guys?) On to the offense where we thoroughly know that Trubisky is better than Foles. The offense looked energized and crisp as it could behind our dumpster fire line. Trubisky did look different. Does he look like the answer, no. But he did look like a different player with Lazor calling the plays. I guess on the first pick, Nagy told Trubisky to take the shot. The fumble was bad, but we shouldn't been bailed out by the 2 facemask penalties that weren't called. The second INT was Foles-esque, in the sense that sometimes you get rattled from not having time. Mistake, but fixable. All told, Nagy's mismanagement of the offense and Trubisky gets him fired. Good riddance to his ego and offensive guru status. Lastly, I would make a statement today and fire Pace. That shit show he has put out there to block is abysmal. The sad fact about it is, is that OL played as good last night as it has with everyone healthy. For next year, I would keep Whitehair, Daniels, Mustipher, Ifedi and Bars. Everyone else can go. We seriously need to take OT with our first two picks. (What's the dead money on Massie and Leno?) Lastly, sign Trubisky to a 2 year deal and know we are going nowhere next year. I'm willing to embrace the suck for a drastic change.

Let Trubisky and Foles suffer next year, then get your QB. Drafting one won't do any good without fixing the line, otherwise he'll have David Carr syndrome.
-
I would absolutely plan to be in cap hell. Knowing that, we should not move any hits to future years unless it's an ascending player that can be painlessly absorbed. If it looks like tank mode like Miami and Jacksonville did, I'm in if the turnaround is shorter.

Two last thoughts on this game and both involve defense. First, Pagano has to unleash many more blitz packages this week. He tends to be very patient and judicious with them. Time to send Roquan and Skrine. They have been very effective in the past. Lastly, never let them line up Adams on Skrine. He has been getting slaughtered on the out fade and the out fade go. Rodgers happens to be the best ever at those throws. I'll be looking at that during the game to see if a safety cheats a little to help.

The Packers weakness is our weakness. They can't stop the run and we can't run. Our hope is Trubisky igniting the run game. They averaged 144 YPG in the games he started this year. Plus the Colts physically beat up the Packers, so they may be a little slow out of the gate. Add that we had a bye to get a little fresher and develop a game plan.(hopefully not the Wile E Coyote kind) We have a chance. It's Packer week! Bear down!!!!

Unless we have a few miracles take place, we are on a downward path. Here's my plan for a quick turnaround. Fire Pace and replace him with Louis Riddick. I don't of many more football people I have been more impressed with. He's smart, knowledgeable, decisive, commanding and diverse. Give him full command to hire and fire at will. My choice would be that he hire someone like Dabo Sweeney to be HC. Also, beg Bill Polian to be president of your organization for two years and give him free reign. We know this going to be a two to three year change, so let's think 2 years ahead to start. Our defense is older, but incredibly talented. We have collateral there. If we could trade Mack, Fuller and Hicks we could a few nice picks out of them. (Cap guys chime in) Mack should garner a first at minimum. Fuller a second and Hicks a third. If I'm off base there, let me know. Definitely would love to trade Quinn away for a fifth, but not sure anyone would want that salary. On the offensive side of the ball, I'm resigning Mitch to a two year, prove it, deal and keeping Foles as a back up. Now that we've traded our defensive studs away, we have Jaylon, Roquan and Eddie as our future stars to build around. Going into the off season we know we'll need to draft replacements for all three. Plus, I'm cutting Skrine. On the offensive side of the ball I'm cutting Harris, Graham, Massie, Leno and Coward. There's three out the door that we know we'll have to draft well on. For the draft we have 2 firsts, 2 seconds, 2 thirds, 1 fourth, 1 fifth, 4 sixth(3 comp) and a seventh. When drafting, I don't want to put a round peg in a square hole just to draft a need. I want the right fit type of player every time. Our coaches first need to state what our identity will be, then draft for that identity. Since I'm doing this, I choose big, nasty, physical, tough minded and smart. My first six picks are going to both fronts. (Three for each side) It all starts up front with blocking and tackling, running and stopping the run and getting after the quarterback. These six players must be big and powerful on offense and relentless on defense. Nothing else matters unless we win at the line of scrimmage. I'm not drafting a QB until the line is fixed the following year. We have 7 picks left so give me another speed receiver, a running back, 2 linebackers and 3 db's. BPA will sort them out. I may even keep Leno around if he takes a pay cut to back up the youngsters. This is a work in progress, so put on your GM hats on and help me improve this.
