  1. I saw it more as, the team really loves this guy and Poles was hoping he got a steal. Now, the young man has next year to try again.
  2. My guess it's for giving him RB training for the new dynamic kickoff. His footwork, timing and acceleration in hitting holes will be crucial.
  3. If there is no stunt and/or blitz, the EDGE rusher usually goes on feel. If you get a tackle with happy feet, you bull rush him and put him on skates. If you get a QB like Fields, scheme rushes are best to keep containment up the middle and outside. There are so many factors and I'm only speaking D1 level in college. I didn't play in college, but my best friend was a D1 EDGE and played in Europe until he was 35. Each level is a huge elevation in complexity.
  4. Same. That's why I asked, because it seemed intentional.
  5. This guy does a decent job breaking down Booker from the HOF game. It's almost like they are wanting Booker to practice the QB moving up in the pocket as if Sweat will force that response. Tell me what you see.
  6. It's all very plausible. Without a doubt Poles leans on Cunningham and Flus as his main sounding boards. With the picture being painted of Warren wanting some love, I can view his interjection as a way to grab his share of the win.
  7. Around the 24 minute mark of the 1920 football drive video, Poles and Warren are talking after Cunningham and Flus. The conversation brought up patience, then Warren came back and said that the conversation of 1 and 9 happened days before. Sounds like Warren was the sounding board.
  8. Loving the Aikman gush over Caleb! I really respect his opinion...
  9. Lloyd Cushenberry and Andre James come to mind. You say fourth rounder, I say 23 million salary. Don't get me wrong, I love that he got Allen. What I will argue is that a good center would be more valuable for Williams' overall development. Problem is, we should have had both. Poles hates to over pay. I simply don't think it would have hurt in this situation. My whole point is what we've seen in the past. We get Cutler and we complain that had no weapons, we get weapons, then he gets killed because of JMarcus Webb. And so on and so on for Trubisky and Fields.
  10. That's what I saw too. I remember that Kevin Warren was his wise counsel. Patience was rewarded.
  11. I couldn't disagree more with this statement. I would've fixed the OL before giving up draft capital for Keenan Allen. Revisionist history tells us that poor OL play ruins the entire offense. The last thing we want is to have Caleb's development even slightly hindered by things not being solid up front. I was pissed he didn't have it fixed last year for Justin, let alone now. And I am on record, as PHX was with Caleb...
  12. All big contracts are gambles. This is a slam dunk gamble if there ever was one. Stud player with limited injury history...
  13. No, but I did hear Flus talk about availability. Davis is the best option we have, but has been bad since he got here.
  14. Love Poles. After reading the article, I moved on to the others below. In the Nate Davis write up, it talked about the OL giving up constant pressure throughout camp. I'm concerned. Fixing the OL should have been completed by now.
  15. If he truly is being a turd, I would love to see them cut Davis. (But it's not cap friendly) Keep him as a backup for this season, then cut him as late as possible next year. That way it's as painful as possible. Poles has shown his respect, in the way he dealt Fields. It's time to show that he can be vengeful if a player steals from the team.
  16. Yeah, it's crazy. One thing I've read about him is that he's been a late bloomer at every level. He went to college as a TE. I'd love to see him average a sack per game.
  17. I would venture to say it was Bill Polian that put his Midas touch on the franchise that led George to hire Poles. But you are right, as Poles is actually doing the work.
  18. Carmen and Jurko had the stats. It's midway through the Thursday show, if you want to listen on the app.
  19. Look at the EPA stat for football. It's complicated, but very accurate when it comes to success. The top 5 teams over the last five years have the five best records over that period of time. As far as the Bears are concerned, the worst five EPA teams were five of the six worst teams in the NFL over the same period.(Bears 31st) The Bears can help themselves rocket up the line by converting a greater percentage of second and third downs.
  20. If Odunze hits 1000, we contend for the division. I'm thinking odds are against.
  21. Yeah, me too. I would never want to be the first GM to set a precedent like that, especially when it's been collectively bargained and agreed upon.
