I wonder if McVey is feeling the same heat Nagy is.
-
Nagy was wanted by the Colts as well as the Bears. As I recall, Nagy chose the Bears because he loved Trubisky and is on record stating that he loved him coming out of the draft. I'm sure the compliments could be coach speak for his player, but you can't say he was handed Trubisky against his will, as he was already here.

My thoughts as well Stinger.
-
He was just being of lauded buy everyone last year. Stole Mack from the Raiders. Locked up Hicks, Goldman and Whitehair. Drafted Jackson and saw the renaissance of Fuller. We have the pieces and are in decent cap shape as compared to poorly ran organizations. He and Nagy get one more year. What they do with it will matter greatly.

I tend to agree.

On the upper end of the scale, would you sacrifice Brady or Belichick? Unless you know...
-
Damn boys, give Nagy time to lick his wounds. If he's as great of a young coach as Reid says he is he'll figure it out. Also, we were applauding Pace last year. I'm in for both of them next year. If I don't see growth, then I'm out.

How about a seasoned coach who knows how to take a great defense to the Superbowl? Make that two Superbowls. ?...John ? ? Seriously, let Nagy and Pace grind this out. They are both young and talented. The ego bruising should season them well. But, Foxy could be brought on as a consultant to help stabilize and correct what can be.

Loved every part of it!

There are many good players on this team, so let's fix it. My thoughts are simple and always have been. We start by fixing the OL. Spend two high draft picks on OL. Spend one on QB. After that, draft speed on D. Clearly, Nagy has struggled this year and nobody is looking at Helfrich. I suggest Nagy hire a more conservative OC to balance his mad scientist style. I believe Helfrich is not a counter balance. Then, Nagy has to listen. On defense, Pagano needs to find his inner Fangio on defense. We heard how aggressive Pagano is. I haven't seen it. Lastly, stop trading up. It rarely works and sends an instant message to the drafted player saying, "we think you are this great". This team needs taken to the wood shed this off-season. They have talent and know it. Sometime that is the problem. Funny be afraid to cut dead weight.

I love the color commentary! ?

Everyone lauded the Mack trade. Now, they are lauding the Raiders because they got Jacobs with one of those picks. If we were winning like last year the narrative would not have changed.

I didn't get to watch. What happened with Shaheen? Heard a lot of negative

Right now, Trubisky is barely average, depending on what stats you look at. We can win with that. What we can't win with is poor play calling, no pass rush, porous line, missed field goals and stupid penalties. If our defense finds its inner dog, the offense has to be just average to compete.
-
That's a good point and I've had to reign myself in at times, as well. Our excitement of having a team in the window has us all drooling. Hopefully the growing pains of this year will bear fruit next.

This team needs a couple of things before a new QB. (OL and another good pass rusher) We also have nobody that can blow the lid off a defense. Trubisky is not the problem. He is only part of the solution. Nagy has to create an identity with his offense and he doesn't have the parts that Reid has.

Yeah, I didn't see much from him either. Sorry, can't help with your question.

Watching this game live yesterday is not easy to describe. My dad and I talked a lot about what we saw and processed and we agreed on several key points. Akiem Hicks is missed more than we previously thought, as the defense has not played as dominating since. Roquan Smith is back. He was everywhere yesterday and runs like a bullit. Defense still playing underneath coverage to soft. Overall though, defense still really good. Now the bad part. Nagy called a decent game until it counted. And there were 4 key times it counted and and all four times he failed. Trubisky missed Shaheen in the end zone, missed Gabriel wide open and never once looked off his primary receiver. However, he played well enough to win the game with some of the good things he did. IMO, he's salvageable. Nagy dialed up a good running game, again, until it counted. Statistically and with the eye test, we dominated that game. I've never heard a team get booed louder going into halftime with a lead. But it happened. Piniero shit his pants today, yet I still don't blame him. It was just ugly and unfortunate. Nagy has to get better for Trubisky to get better.

If we somehow flop this game, I'm in for some trades for draft picks only. I would think Floyd, Prince, Davis, Trevathon, Leno, Massie, Patterson, Gabriel and Burton could all fetch something and alleviate cap hit next season. Keep all rookie deals and again trade for picks only. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.
-
We'll definitely have to draft a QB, even if it's for backup duties. Bray should be able to supplant Daniels next year. Keep the succession going until you get a winner. I personally like the every other year plan, unless you know you got a dud the previous year.

Something I found thought provoking. If Vic Fangio were to be fired today, would you sacrifice Pagano to get Fangio back?
-
Two things Trubisky desperately needs needs to work on: 1) Pre snap read. He cannot miss seeing wide open receivers when it's 3rd and any distance. 2) He has to start hitting on some deep balls. It's almost like he's afraid to put it on the money out of fear of interception, so many overthrows. If he can't hit a deep ball, the run game will never work. The defense has no respect of getting burnt.
