We get to face a Vic Fangio defense next week.

For the record, Mack had a great game. He either caused or was within half a step of all 5 sacks. He was also held on 4 of them. Something needs done with the lack of holding calls, otherwise it negates what we are trying to do on defense. My 13 year old son called about twenty of them last night that were legit.

That wasn't a bad play call. If Long picks his man up instead of worrying about the delayed blitz, it's very likely a good completion to Robinson. Terrible, terrible fundamental mistake by Long. You are right that it summarized the game. The OL was pitiful. A very complacent effort.

I can't remember a more deflating loss. I was looking for a highly competitive game from both teams. Even though the game was close, both teams looked like shite. Nagy was way overconfident with the way he prepared his team. Make no mistake, Pagano had his boys ready to go. Trubisky looked like a rookie again. He couldn't go through a progression to save his ass. It was clear that he needed pre season reps. He has to show us something this year or he honestly doesn't have it. Last year, Nagy lived off the element of surprise in the first game but had nothing for the second half in an ugly loss. This year, he got cocky and had NOTHING in a complete humiliation. The Bears are now the laughing stock of the NFL...again! It's any given Sunday and the lowest level coaches should know it. How did Nagy not? I'm looking for the defense to play even better next week, because they know they are the only chance this team has at a playoff berth. The offense will need to rebound quickly to alleviate some of the pressure that is on the defense. It will see stacked boxes and blitzes until it is beaten. I only hope that our offensive is not tied to Trey Burton being on the field. Otherwise, the entire off season was a huge mistake in not addressing a depth player like him. This year will define Nagy and Trubisky.

I like Horstead a lot. I do think he'll be a practice squad guy while he builds his strength.

Here's what I read on the Bears website: Part of the issue might be that Horsted, listed at 215 pounds, is the lightest tight end on the Bears roster. Once an oversized 6-4 receiver, he is now adjusting to the realities of his new position. "You really got to get in it at tight end," said Horsted. "At the wide receiver spot, you're kind of out there. You're dealing with cornerbacks, who you can throw around a little bit as a bigger guy. Now, I'm the smaller guy and getting thrown around if I don't have good technique." The transition was slowed by a knee injury that has been bothering Horsted since the spring. He finally reached full health last week, just in time for the game against the Colts, and credits the patience of the Bears coaching staff for his recovery. "It had kind of just been hindering me," said Horsted. "They did a really good job of giving me time to make sure it's fully healed, so it didn't continue to compound. And now I feel good. I feel really good."

I like him, but he is way light. 210-215# tight ends are going to have an issue creating any type of matchup advantage.

I'm in with the save his legs camp. He lives off his explosion. Keep him fresh.

As predicted...

Same here, but after viewing his highlight reel post draft, I remember saying that he looked a little like Bell. I hope it stays that way.
-
It's designed that way. You do the up and in or the go, all based on what the defense gives you.

I grew up in Anderson.

I'm an Indiana boy

We stayed in Indian Wells last year for a business conference. It was really nice there.
-
I'm thinking we'll actually see less of Cohen this season. Keep him fresh for explosive plays...
-
I think the main issue he had with Trubisky was that he was missing the primary read.
-
From my viewpoint, that was a great analysis. If Mitch takes us on a roller coaster ride and improves while doing so, he will be fine.
-
Yup. Too much union talk...

I don't get all the Fox hate on this. He did us a favor with a spot on critique of our kicking game, in that it's a huge question mark. It will only galvanize the team more coming from a coach that was popular with the locker room. Do I agree we had the worst off-season? Hell no. Fox truly doesn't either if he's sane.

It's also time to start thinking about stockpiling draft choices. Keep grooming the next man up.

Nice piece of work there!
