  1. Of the 5 OL positions guard i's the easiest to change. The reason they didn't do this last year was for that dreaded C word. Massie and Long worked out together all off season. Since they could not move Massie, Long was the only stable force on the entire OL, with the young Grasu on the other side. This the reason we didn't go 0-16. As for this year, all potential starters were on the system last year, so it's less painful to swap all pro guards. Lastly, the muscle memory is also greater the further you move outside, that's not going to be an issue as Long and Sitton both excelled at those postings previously.
  2. Man, you hit 5 points on why I disagreed with Jason! Last point: Long has most prototypical size and skill set on the team to play left tackle. This gets him one step closer if needed.
  3. Disagree for multiple reasons. When I get some time later I'll give my opinion.
  4. Agreed. Two completely different players and development situations.
  5. If Glennon is a stud, I don't mind if he sits until he's traded.
  6. Disagree. David Carr was brutalized for 3 years. The guy never had a chance. Kurt Warner had some success before failure, so he had something to remember once he was put in a good situation again.
  7. I never really answered the question of topic. My answer is yes. In the last 25 years I can only think of 2 QB's that did not meet my definition of a franchise QB.(Dilfer and Johnson) What they had in common was undeniably great alltime type defenses. You must have a solid starter to compete from year to year. The great defense will fade through attrition. The franchise QB will be there for 15 years.
  8. Agreed. Add Newton, Rivers, Manning and Ryan to my list. Any situation where the position is locked down with no question who the leader is....
  9. If we had Trent Dilfer instead of Grossman, we'd have 2 at Halas Hall.
  10. 8 of those 10 had very good defenses. The question is, how easy is it to build a championship D?
  11. In the long run, I believe Pace followed his draft plan. It may have been dumb luck that got us the DII guys, as they fell into their slotted position. In no way, do I believe that they went into the draft thinking they were going to shock the world with DII picks.
  12. If you are good, you are good. Doesn't matter where you come from.
  13. Top free agents are hard to sign unless you are ascending. Gotta have a QB for any hope of that. We have money.
  14. There is no bad if Glennon blows up. Trubisky would still be coveted by Cleveland. Hell you could even trade him before the deadline if you wanted. Your QB situation is solved and you have an arsenal of draft picks for next season. Now you can start drafting BPA and making pin point FA strikes on your way to the Superbowl.

At least wait for mini camp before you start, lol

And I no longer trust Polian. He talks out of both sides of his mouth these days. Don't get me wrong, he is greatest football exec of all time; but nothing more than media now.
  17. Damn it sucks to hope your team improved enough to draft at 12. Lol. That's the reality of where we are though.

    Jaye Howard

I just read that he signed a 1 year deal, but can't find it now.
  19. I get your point, but if your team is not diverse in talent, then you become a one trick pony.
