  1. It's happened before, so it's not as absolute as you make it.
  2. Nate Davis is a coach killer. You absolutely can not get continuity if your starter doesn't practice. A lot of the center's poor play can be attributed to trust and familiarity, or the lack thereof. Davis should be out of the league next year. It all starts up front and I've argued continuity for years. They got a wakeup call. If health remains ok, we'll get better.
  3. You have lost your mind if you think Bagent wouldn't be on the red-eye for a first rounder.
  4. Tough call. I'd probably ask for a first, since it's the QB position. Bagent would be perfect for that system. Getting him as an UDFA has the rest of the league kicking themselves.
  5. I've been feeling the same. We match well with them. Caleb has game speed in his brain now and the OL should have that "backs against the wall" feeling. Their collective fight should be better. I didn't bet us to win, but took the points.
  6. I wrote that before Tua rang his bell. I'm on delay...
  7. Y'all remember when I told you to be aware of Terron Armstead? Skinny ankles is a recipe for missing games as an OL. Where's Jason? Yes, I'm drinking and Miami is done...
  8. Here's my week one assessment with the good bad and ugly. Good: Defense and Special Teams get the star award for the day. DJ Moore made some plays and believe it or not Caleb. Caleb didn't turn it over and managed the huddle well. He also looked like he played with poise. I believe he found out what real game speed is and will adjust accordingly this week. I don't expect the terrible overthrows and terrible footwork going forward. He's 1-0 Bad: Tevin Jenkins and Keenan Allen. For being in a contract year, Jenkins didn't look like he wants paid. He gave up a few pressures. Waldron was bad as well. Keenan simply has to catch a touchdown pass. Where was the run game? The run game was supposed to be a staple and the key to helping Caleb ease into his first game. Poles, you gave us this IOL... Ugly: Velus. Nuff said. Shelton, your weight lists you at 285 and you played light in the ass. I haven't seen a center get ran over as much since, oh, last year's Bears centers. Nate Davis if you care about your teammates, please retire so Poles can use the money, you are stealing, on a player that gives a shit. Your two year stint has shown me the worst teammate in Bears history. Hey guys, it's a three phase game. Minus Velus, two out of three phases were dominant. We got the W. On to Houston...
  9. To summarize the game for me, it was all love and kumbaya from training camp in the first half. Once they figured out it was a big boys game, they pulled their pants up and started getting after it. Caleb now knows that the real game is faster than he thought it was going to be. I'm certain he will adjust his timeline accordingly. Going in to Houston next week, they'll have to come out of the gate a lot sooner.
  10. I don't think 65 could have a worse game with two broken legs. Nate Davis was terrible as well. Caleb kept grinding and I like some of the things I saw. Poles has allowed this team to be vulnerable and it was my fear coming into the season. I'd definitely would trade Keenan Allen for one of the two centers that were the big free agents.
  11. You and I have been on that platform from day one. If you remember my old tag line, "it all starts up front". Yours was something like "a good OL makes average players better, good players great and great players elite". 🍻🍻
  12. I still believe we are on the rise, but Poles is on my shit list for the moment.
  13. Same ol same OL. Pun intended. Can't have pressure up the middle. Inexcusable and unacceptable...

  15. I read an article in The Atlantic a few minutes ago that refocused my eyes. It was a comprehensive write up of our entire roster, with player evaluations, opponents and record projections from execs and scouts throughout the league. The results are mixed, but the consensus has us going 8-9 and finishing third in the division. They argued the why of it and delivered. They also say we are definitely on the rise. It was a great piece. If anyone can attach it, that would be great. Buckle up boys!
  16. Hard Knocks showed me so much about Flus and Poles. They are in it to lead by example, better than any coaches I've ever seen us have. They treat the players like family, but give tough love and hard coaching when needed. Flus is out there working as hard as any player, all while keeping an incredible demeanor. He his message doesn't get lost in the delivery and Poles makes sure to only bring in those that will receive it correctly. Something I quietly caught was Poles saying that all the cuts wanted to be on the practice squad. Hear's a place players want to be. If Caleb is the real deal, players will come out of the woodwork to come for a chance at a ring. I loved the humanity and sincerity they both displayed.
  17. Great analogy. They were on the rise and didn't have the confidence. If Caleb inspires confidence, the defense would definitely feed off of that. Take the Chiefs as an example. They can make mistakes on both sides of the ball and always play instinctually because Mahommes/Kelce/Reed gives them the confidence. That's the reason I believe we are a year from the window.
  18. I also believe the D will be around the ten mark. Our back seven may be league best, while the front is probably between 15 and 20. That's not bad considering that they are really good against the run and the back seven is elite in pass defense. If we're looking for a top ten defense, we're going to need double digit sacks out of at least one, while getting between five and ten with a couple more. I can see Sweat getting 12-15. Dexter and Walker can surprise us and get 5-8. The wildcard is Booker. If he can also get 5-8 sacks, we are business in the top five. Let the stars align...🍻
  19. I blame Charles Martin for 86. After that, Mikey decided to not pay anyone. Ditka wasn't good enough to overcome it.
