  1. Drafting is philosophical to me. Mine is to draft the best football player available. I do this because teams that draft for current needs tend to be cyclically behind the curve. My preference would be to draft proactively instead of reactively. It takes a year or two in most cases to develop players. It’s painful to think of waiting a few years to clean up your talent pool via the draft, but that’s how a strong nucleus is built. If you have an overly strong LB corps, don’t think that doesn’t carry over to other areas. You asked a question alluding to BPA being possibly redundant to a position you don’t need. I would argue the only time that really applies is when you have your franchise QB early in their career. You always need good players for the future. I would also counter that nothing is absolute and sometimes you need to deviate to do what is best. Again, that deviation may come with a future price, so I get right back to the plan. I do like using FA to fill glaring holes, because you are getting an NFL experienced player. But if we have too many to fill, so be it. Rookies are not generally going to help that anyway. This can be chicken v egg debate…
  2. Don't over think it. We have 6 picks to go BPA with. That's how the good teams do it. We gotta start somewhere. Let the GM and coach Magee the statement that all positions are subject to upgrade at all times...
  3. Best to know now. I'm not a huge Cutler fan, but I actually think he's gotten too much blame for lack of success. He is the best option going into this year, so here's to Jay!
  4. Polian has Rolle ranked along side Conte. I'm out...
  5. I would rather get a new tackle than move one of the best guards in the league to tackle. Garza can go to the bench and back up all three interior positions and extend his career.
  6. Pace worked for the guy who made the decision. We can't base much on his past.

    2 for 1

Mccourty had Revis taking care of one third of the field for him too. Plus guarding the number one WR.
  8. I would vomit if we get the first pick next year. All that aside, I love your picks!
  9. I wanted a turd flushing and that's what I'm getting...:-)
  10. We don't know what happens behind the closed doors of the locker room. I read that the staff evaluated players and that none of Marshall's team mates lobbied for him to remain a Bear. That is the most damning sign of all. There is a new staff and system that comes along with it. Gotta get rid of the trouble so you can build your culture.
  11. I think you all misread what I wrote. I want Cutler to take a pay cut for no other reason than we just over pay. In no way do I want to be tethered to him deeper than we already are, in any fashion. I'm also of the mindset to not make any blockbuster signings, but we do need to hit on a few solid vets while trying to get younger. If we give Cutler a pay cut, trade Marshall and Forte, we have extra picks and a ton of cap space allowing the new brass power and freedom to do a lot of turd cutting...
  12. Mr. Cutler needs tear his contract up and renegotiate at a lower rate. Our only leverage is threatening to cut him. Then someone will sign him much less.
  13. Barring season ending injury in week one...
  14. Most experts, including ALL of us, claim we stole Marshall with the two 3'rds. At 30, he easily can have 4 productive years. I would give a 2nd for someone that proven. Many teams have a demand for that right now and don't want to wait for a rookie to develop. Sometimes it's worth a slight overpay. While we are at it, let's get their 3rd for Forte. Running back is loaded in this draft.
  15. You always have a boner for Bama boys...:-)
  16. Brandon Marshall is exactly what the Colts need. If they can draft one of the stud running backs and get Marshall watch out. Plus they are waaaay under the cap...
  17. Yup. I think it's been Cutler all along. Fox and company have been doing their level best to discretely tear Cutler's ego down/humble him. You have to do that with smart stubborn people sometime. I wish we had better options because I'm simply tired of the roller coaster and like my leaders to be vocal and encouraging.
