  1. Yeah, it's crazy. One thing I've read about him is that he's been a late bloomer at every level. He went to college as a TE. I'd love to see him average a sack per game.
  2. I would venture to say it was Bill Polian that put his Midas touch on the franchise that led George to hire Poles. But you are right, as Poles is actually doing the work.
  3. Carmen and Jurko had the stats. It's midway through the Thursday show, if you want to listen on the app.
  4. Look at the EPA stat for football. It's complicated, but very accurate when it comes to success. The top 5 teams over the last five years have the five best records over that period of time. As far as the Bears are concerned, the worst five EPA teams were five of the six worst teams in the NFL over the same period.(Bears 31st) The Bears can help themselves rocket up the line by converting a greater percentage of second and third downs.
  5. If Odunze hits 1000, we contend for the division. I'm thinking odds are against.
  6. Yeah, me too. I would never want to be the first GM to set a precedent like that, especially when it's been collectively bargained and agreed upon.
  7. The chargers are also hurting for receiver. I do have the feeling Harbaugh wants to build through the draft though.
  8. I don't like the stand part option. As I've previously stated, it's about next season. There's not a defender out there that is going to help up win a playoff game. I'll take Conner Williams on a flyer. If you have to put him on the PUP for awhile, I'm good. I've been on record that I don't like the investment Poles has made in the IOL. Williams, if healthy, is proven and young. I want nothing else going into camp. Mid season, gimme another great EDGE trade...
  9. They can easily create space for anyone they want.
  10. Since this is not a Superbowl year, I'm signing Williams before Ngakue. IMO, this year should be all about Caleb and the future before we sign a mid level, injured, journeyman EDGE rusher. Gimme the stud center if his knee is trending better.
  11. I can see Caleb wanting his contract fully guaranteed. It would be an interesting precedent, but likely, given his elite status.
  12. Lovie always said that his safeties were interchangeable.
  13. He was always fast and with burst. He was just slow off the snap. The pro strength and agility is everything for physicality. I like that he trained his mind to react quicker during the season.
  14. Agreed. Most elite athletes are born, not made. Dexter came in as a corn fed hoss. That's enough to stand out in college. A year of evaluation and off season professional training does a lot of the athlete is a worker.
  15. Davis was well below average last year due to lack of conditioning, knowledge of offense, injury and lack of continuity. His value should increase dramatically this year. The OL, as a whole, should be better at each position. Jenkins is playing for a contract. Let's see what his body looks like in TC. Wright in year two. Jones in year three. Center is the weak spot again...
  16. Readdressing the WR position. I'm looking at the Bengals and wondering how they are going to manage Burrow, Chase and Higgins. They will account for 120 million a year. Is the cap rating enough to support that? Will it be sustainable if not?
  17. With only seven teams making the playoffs, that's definitely on the wish list. It's not going to be an easy road, especially when we have two teams ahead of us in our own conference. Are we better than any of the following: Detroit, Green Bay, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas? Then, someone automatically gets in from the NFC South, leaving one spot open. A lot of things have to go right for us. We could possibly have a ten and seven record and not make a wildcard. In the end, I don't believe it would take a SB run for him to make another Sweat type of trade. Heck, I would do it just because it was and will be a no brainer. Taking advantage of the market is what the smart teams do. Poles has put is in position to do so. Until our QB begins elevating the team, the money needs to follow the ones that do. Once the QB is established, those deals are off the table.
  18. I'm following that line; I think if Poles sees that if Caleb can play and that we are also in contention for a playoff spot, he will definitely spend on a good player. That good player would definitely have to be of the OL DL category to make sense.
  19. I think Poles has done very well staggering the contracts. 2031 would be a dream come true, if we're solid until then. Obviously, he'll pay Caleb first, then make decision on Rome.(That's if they ball out)
  20. I'm doing this for WR, please feel free to add other positions. Since the Jefferson deal, I'm questioning what we do with WR in the future. We are currently on a great position with having three 1's in the room. For future purposes, do we draft a WR annually to ensure the pipeline is full or do we pay 35+ million to re-sign our own? Looking at Dallas, they are going to have to pay CD the same as JJ to keep him. Add 60 mil to Dak and it seems untenable. Especially with their EDGE rusher wanting a record contract as well.
