  1. Drafting these guys is prime example of what I hate. We were pretty deep at CB last year, yet we use FA money to sign special teamers. If you need special teamers, draft them late! They just may end up making it at other positions. There are a bunch of 6-7 round linebackers in the NFL. Don't we need LB depth? Were there zero OG's or C's out there we felt we could develop with those picks?? How big Hopefully Emery's first offseason followed the Lovie plan. I don't see it happening anymore. Otherwise I will be critical of this.
  2. I get it, but... How good would that D have been if our offense didn't keep them on the field so much? Here's the big if. If Trestman can get the offense to 15-18 in the NFL and win the time of possession battle. I would take bets on it.
  3. This is where I'm at as well. If we keep Clutts and let Rodriguez develop as a pass catching TE, it moves up to C-. No way it ever gets higher than that, because our team failed because the OL was completely neglected. As was predicted by 80% of this board.
  4. I've been reading this thread for awhile and this is my first comment as it relates to my life. As a kid I was very athletic in football , baseball, basketball and golf. I liked girls, but didn't have time to fully grasp what a relationship was. So, it took me longer in life to understand and foster relationships with women. You could even say I was naive.(very) Nobody that knows me would say I was stupid, but I have been fooled out of lack of experience or an over trusting heart. Because that's all you know when you are an athlete. You are taught at the earliest age to do your job and trust that the guy next to you is getting theirs done. If you are totally in to your sport, girls don't take a high priority. So, I can see how they never met. I never had money to fly to the west coast from the midwest as a kid, as there were things I had to miss out on. All said, I believe it would be easy to dupe a guy like Te'o. He got fooled and caught up in something that was bigger than he could eventually handle. It doesn't make him stupid or bad. It just makes him a kid that made a big mistake that should turn out to be the biggest laerning experience of his life. I do think he is a good person and intelligent human being. And for any of us to pile on and condemn this kid speaks as to who and where we are in our lives.
  5. I would go OT, OC, LB, LB and speed reciever. It's mentioned NOT giving up on Carimi and I agree. Even more so, Webb should not be given up on, as I think he has the most upside of any OL on our roster. Not only did he vastly improve from last season, he also improved as the season progressed. As a matter of fact, ever since Cutler ripped his ass. Assuming we sign Scott and Louis. Tackles would be Draftee, Webb, Carimi and Scott. (Three young "up and comers" and a solid vet) Guards would be Garza, Louis and one of the tackles. Center would be a draftee with Garza backing up.
  6. I agree. If our D is left alone, we know it's top ten. The new DC is going to put his stamp on his new D though, so we will absolutely see some new looks. There is no way he's gonna want to hear that he's winning with Lovie's D, cause he's already going to be doing it with Lovie's people.
  7. I would pay it, if it were incentive laden. He probably wouldn't like my guaranteed money offer very much.

    Take your pick

Just think, the Colts are gonna be about 55m under the cap after they cut Freeney. They might be a player for one or two OL.
  9. Love it! But you forgot Warmack. Unless Carimi fully recovers and gets his size, strength and quickness back, you gotta put Scott there. Unfortunately, if he can't, he's gotta go and Webb would be the backup in grooming. Clady-Warmack-Jones-Garza(while Louis heals)-Carimi/Scott/Webb
  10. If we signed Clady and Warmack was there at 20, my life would be complete. It would make losing Urlacher painless...
  11. It's just an added bonus and something for the defense to think about. Wasn't meant to be the focal point of the topic.
  12. I saw pretty much the same from ESPN. He cannot fully participate because of the elbow injury.
  13. In Trestman's indtroductory presser, he stated that we will dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. That's something that hasn't been preached since Ditka. Hopefully, we get our wish and spend picks and money on the unit until it is solidified.
  14. Last point on the matter. Antwaan Randle El. See career stats. Robinson is at least as talented. Take special notice to the passing stats from the WR position. Then, remember the impact he had on many games. Oh, and he played QB for IU. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/3...twaan-randle-el
  15. I agree with getting a "young" FA LT. That is the quickest and best fix for various reasons. We are also in agreement to draft a stud, G/C early. I also agree that Webb improved last season and is still growing. But, if we are left with Webb as our starter at LT, an LT for development must be drafted high to ensure depth and competition. Webb is an individual that is highly talented, but seemingly not bright and immature. He must be pushed or moved out of the way.
  16. I get what you are saying and agree it's part of the equation. I also have seen too many better options open as the ball was being forced to Marshall. Your hope for Trestman echoes through us all.
  17. Agreed on the 6th round. Also, would not mind taking a look at the Johnson kid as a potential pick.
  18. He definately hates settling for the short gainers. I think that has added to his sack total as well, as he tends to wait at times.
  19. I understand the concept but... How do we get out of that cycle? We've been doing it since 05' and it may have already cost us what we were trying to get all along. And now, it is still preventing us from getting there.
  20. People have tried to develop him. Just like we all keep talking about developing Cutler, yet he still has all the mechanical flaws. Difference is, Cutler has throwing skills underneath it all. I'm a Tebow fan, but simply believe he's become a distracting sideshow. Not of his doing, of course. I personally think a young QB should be brought in to develop the way Trestman wants.
