  1. I think they can be effective. I was not dissatisfied with their play this year.
  2. It's never a waste of time to spend some time on the great ones of your franchises history. Singletary has forever earned his respect.
  3. Just speaking in measurables. But, you already knew that...
  4. Give it a break. Roach and Url are not under contract. You know Hayes is horrible as well. So we do have ONE starting LB, a backup that sucks and an untested guy. Not saying we draft LB in the first, hell no for safety. BTW - Briggs is NOT what he used to be and he aint gettin any younger either.
  5. He's a Dallas Clark clone. Clark is listed at 6'3, but I can guarantee he's 6'1. He was a beast for years at TE.
  6. They were young and on an upswing. I said they needed an OC and they got an offensive coach, OC and drafted offense. Singletary built the base of that team. They still play with the identity he instilled in them. He was not horrendous. Anyway, I'm endorsing him as a DC not HC.
  7. I agree there's a place for him. I just longer think it's in the 1st round.
  8. I actually like Singletary if the new HC wanted him for the DC/asst HC role. He was not a flop in SF. Look at the team he left Harbaugh. Both sides of the ball are solid. Singletary just had no offensive coordinator. Love love love how he handle Vernon Davis. Davis credits him too...
  9. Just posted about Te'o in another topic and thought my comments were going to be controversial. Then, I get to this thread. With using different words, I'm with Terra Tor...
  10. I focussed on Teo alot last night. He was slow and weak at the point of attack. Huge concerns for him moving to the pro level. His height and weight are listed as suitable, but he looks 20 lbs smaller on the field. I'm off his bandwagon...

I agree that sacks do not tell the whole story. To me, it's the question of what the protection was when the sack or pressure was observed. This brings the point of the data/analysis you would like to see, as stated above. There are flaws in all types of player analysis. The primary reciever tripped or ran the wrong route, causing the QB to go through his progressions. In the meantime, the OL set up for a protection that can no longer be effective due to the WR. There's one instance. Another could be that there are several protections that can be called and we don't have that information on each individual play, so all we see is the success or failure and sometimes the wrong person is to blame. So, unless you have the precise play and the protection for that exact play, any data is not and can not be conclusive. So, having that is useless to us and even other NFL people. It's individual team inclusive. Now to GB and the sacks. I beleive GB is running their whole offense, which includes plays of risk, which means slow developing or less protection. That is the difference from the Bears. We often saw max protect, meaning their are less targets in the route. I don't believe we ever ran our entire offense. We as fans have to rely on how it looks and feels.
  12. As GM I would... Hire Bruce Arians and recommend he retain Dave Toub. If chooses not to, it's all good. View film with Arians to determine key pieces and how to make them work and what dead weight to purge. Out: Hester, Spaeth, Davis, Idonije, Spencer, Okoye, Campbell and Hayden IN: Melton, Louis and Url (only if it's friendly) Untouchables: Marshall and Peppers. They are the only players we have on our team that would go to the Pro Bowl on every team in the NFL. Now, if you can convince any player to restructure to make the team better, go for it. But I'd tread lightly because it comes at a price down the road. I would strive to continue the cap excellence that has been practiced the last decade. This allows flexibility in time of need. We have 3 players with significant trade value on our team. Two were mentioned above, the other is Cutler. I look at offers, but subsequently have to fleece a trade partner to pull the string on any. In FA, I send a private jet to Miami stocked with booze and hookers to get our new left tackle. Sign a serviceable pass catching TE, while developing Rodriguez. Draft BPA in rounds 1 and 2 and hopefully come up with a starting LB and OG. Possibly trade down. (Only for an extra 2nd or 3rd though) Draft BPA that we feel can become impactful players. Send a message to team that this season, all jobs are being looked at and nothing less than champions will not last.
  13. So, in looking at these assessments: not one Bears lineman made it to the baseline of the average bar. Not one? Lovie and Tice must have given false hope to Emery. Thus... Look at Carimi's #, it's ugly sitting beside the decent looking numbers of Louis. Go to the other side and see Webb as our highest rated OL sitting next to some ugly numbers from Rachal and Spencer. Is Webb that much better than the OG's next to him? Is he that much better than Carimi? Just sayin, Webb IS improving and he's 24 years old. He may not start next year, but he is in the plans for the future
  14. He's definately in my top 3. Love that guy...
  15. So, are you saying Lovie's dismissal was a mistake?
  16. That wasn't meant in regards to the players feelings, rather it was meant for the future progress of the team. I care about what Tillman feels, I just don't care what he thinks of moves above his pay grade.
  17. No more shorting the OL. We gotta fix it first and fix it right.
  18. This quote is a great testimony to Smith's character and I believe that's who he is as a man. Everyone wants a leader like that. What I want more though from my leader is to throw Gatorade on him. Lovie will always be remembered for what he brought to this franchise. That being said, I find it very insignificant what the players say or think about it at this point. Change is coming and it's their job to move on and get behind it.
  19. I watched the press conference on chicagobears.com and was very impressed. If you've got 20+ minutes, listen to what he has to say...
  20. Yeah, Kiffins tweak was the linebackers. Especially, the dropback coverage from the MLB.
