  1. Rick always starts low and works to the middle, as you have stated is the way to do it. It's been said the Bears offered higher prior to free agency and 54 decided, out of pride, to test the market. He came back with no leverage and his value leveled out to 2 mil. It'sa small pittance for an already rich man. But again, pride is going to cause him to let it go before he is ready. It's on him. The deal was fair commensurate with to his value. To the other posters out there, who say players won't play here or the current ones won't play hard is complete and utter bullshit. I've said all I can say on this topic. I'll miss him, but am glad he didn't get what he wanted, because it is not deserved.
  2. What's the last good player you saw on the Bears to give a hometown discount? 2 million would have been that for Url, but he was insulted. He'll find he's not worth it anywhere. This argument is tremendously flawed IMO.
  3. Why cut him? He'd instantly be the best G on the team. Also, why would you cut him before the draft?
  4. This! 1,000,000% I know this is overly dramatic, but it needs to happen. I don't like Carimi at G. He's a little too long for that position. We need an upgrade at both G positions, but I can live with getting one good one in the draft. Garza is average on his best day and on the wrong side of 30 with no talent in the pipeline. Once and for all, the OL needs fixed.

    Urlacher

Some of you girls kill me...

    Georgia Pro Day

A little HGH and he'll be set...
  7. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-f...tly-for-vikings Looks like Urlacher is too expensive for another team. Those Vikings are just insulting...
  8. That's not how negotiations go at all. If the brass thinks he's worth 3 million, they are not going to pay 4 because he's asking 5. They are going to pay 3, or this case 2. They offered him a deal better than 2 before he tested the water with notice that he would be paid what the market would bring once he came back. That is 2 mil. Fact is: 54 had a higher value placed on himself than the market for him. Again, same with Olin. We'll have this debate again with Briggs in a year or two.
  9. Count me in the skeptical crowd. I'm really looking forward to see if he changed his physicality this year after an off season working out with Marshall. I don't think he'll ever be a fast twitch guy, but he can use power as an allie. He can be judged after this year as his stats should go to about 60 rec/800 yards/7 TD's.
  10. Again, we all mostly wanted Urlacher back. I personally think he's one of my favorite Bears ever. But, the main aspect of this whole deal is this... We wanted him back. He was given time to test the market and nobody wanted him. Again, he was offered a contract that most people would give a testicle for. Again, he turned it down. That's his choice. Nobody can sit here and preach that the brass is a bunch souless bloodsuckers because they didn't pay him what his inflated ego thought he should be paid. Same thing happened with Kruetz, as he took less to play elsewhere and proved to be done. Since Urlacher has a home and ties here, he should accept his fate, man up and play. This organization has made him handsomely rich and famous already. It's time for him to be a team player, suck it up and pay it back by finishing his career here. The only thing that could possibly refute this opinion is if he signs for more elsewhere. And it better be enough to cover the expenses of relocation and loss of endorsements in the Chicago area.
  11. They wanted him back, but at a price that reflected his performance. He was awful last year and theres nothing the show he'll be better. Sometimes vets need to be shown the door. He was and got no offers. Now hes crying cause he feels dissed. I would never feel anything but joy if someone wanted me for that price. Ask any talented rookie that would probably bring more to the table.
  12. As a player, he's worth about 2mil. I'd give him another mil as face of the franchise and locker room leader. Definately 3 mil tops...
  13. I say 54 it's in the fold by the end of next week.
  14. Te'o would make me puke in the 1st. I think he has bust written all over him.
  15. Yeah, but nobody knew he'd been that cheap. Shows how much the price drops as time goes by. Never know, we may have offered him more.

    Backup QB?

I can see it both ways. As long as they address the 2 open OG and LB positions, I don't care.
  17. I don't think he lied about the surgeries. (we may have to fact check that) ESPN just didn't know about them. Please never confuse Manning with Favre. He's about as stand up as they have ever come. He is a god in Indy.
  18. I would argue that Lovie's defensive prowess came from an inordinate amount of draft picks and free agent aquisitions. That in and of itself kept the offense behind for his tenure. Look at the DL and safety picks alone and it becomes evident as to why the OL sucks. I'll even add with what we've invested on D over the years, we should have been #1 every year...
  19. Get him Jason! I'm afraid I'm on my way to losing my bet...

    Backup QB?

Out of the names mentioned, I'll take McCown. I don't like our chances if Cutler goes down anyway.
  21. Lewis got a fat contract though. 5mil+ a year.
