The light was definitely on in the Superbowl. He was the reason everybody else got turned loose on the DL. Watch Brian Baldinger break him down on film.
-
Agreed, he had less help than Carter. To me, the comparison ends there. Carter is special.

Yeah, it's Jeanty for me too. I'm trying to justify why we shouldn't draft him. Here's the list: Best back to come out in years. Dude had 2000+ rushing yards after contact. He had the best contact balance I have ever seen.(Including Sweetness) He would make the OL better with his hole vision. He makes Caleb better as a true play action threat. He makes our receivers better, because he needs accounted for on every play. He makes Ben Johnson better by putting us in third and short. He makes our defense better by allowing us to control the ball more. I honestly don't see another player in the draft that makes the whole team better from day one. But, conventional wisdom and my tag line the the old site comes in like, "It all starts up front!"

Disclaimer: this is not about what is best long term... We talked a lot about blue chip players in the past. We currently have around 10. Looking at this draft, there aren't as many "can't miss" prospects at ten, as in the past. Looking at our 10 pick with the lens of who makes us better faster isn't usually best in the long run. Who is your guy in this draft that's an instant upgrade as a starter? Take into account learning curve per position. Please don't use someone that won't be available. Gimme your guy and why...

Ahhh! I misread. Thought it was first round...

I believe it's same with DT. Pathetic

I hope you are right, but honestly don't see it. He always seems a little late to the party for my taste. I love his hustle though. I like Jarrett, but we should temper our expectations of him. He's trending down.

For two reasons I would eliminate Kiran. Not enough good tape on him and no great LOT in this draft. Brisker is huge, especially with Byard aging. Kmet is marginal to be upgraded, but there are two good TE's that should be drafted on the top twenty. A guy I would add is Dexter. People may disagree, but I don't see him as an effective pass rusher. His best position looks to be 1 tech. He should be able to handle the weight easily. Definitely look for new blood at 3 tech. One would hope that Johnson and Swift can be Monty and Gibbs, but neither of our guys is as good as either of theirs. Definitely look for an upgrade here. I honestly would not be surprised with Jeanty. IMO-Jeanty is the best back to come out since Peterson.

I like Campbell over Banks. Campbell started three years and gave up four sacks. I don't believe there is a truly good left tackle in this draft. I'm starting to think we draft EDGE at 10, with a chance of Jeanty/Warren...

Nobody said we needed to trade anyone. It was simply stated that we could and that's a positive option. Agreed on Waldron and my own sanity...🍻

Life goes on. It's all about the ifs. If you draft the right guy. If that guy pans out to be the guy. If the right trade partner comes to bid. The Patriots built a dynasty on this. Why not, if it's the prudent thing to do. No need to be a smartass...

You would do it for the exact reason I stated earlier. If you are able to draft his replacement and he is looking good by the trade deadline, you can trade Thuney and get your draft pick back. It's more attractive to the other team if he has extra time on his contract. You instantly get younger and more cap friendly.
-
That would actually mean nothing. He's trade-able either way. Same with Jackson.
-
I already said that. If we draft his replacement, we could trade him back at the deadline.
-
The more I think about it, it may be a fit. Fill the Sanborn role until they go into nickel, then turn him loose at EDGE. If he could be a 10 sack 75 tackle guy, that would be great.
-
Interesting. I watched an interview with him last week. He talked about being a weapon in any defense. For some dang reason I never put him with us. I like him...
-
Saying, drafting a WR will hinder the growth of another WR is utterly ridiculous. Give me a guy that competes to put food on his table, every day and twice on Sunday. If Rome folds at competition, grow some sack...

We don't have any elite receivers...

It's definitely not a luxury pick. Kiran is unproven, Braxton is average at best and Darnell is ascending. Good teams require two plus rated tackles and a promising backup. The only thing we have is a plus tackle.

Let's say the draft pans out really well for us and we get a couple of studs. Come trade deadline one may be ready to take over for Jackson or Thuney. Thuney is only signed through this year and may draw a good pick from a desperate team. (Maybe even the Chiefs). If Jackson returns to good form, he would be highly desirable on the trade market since he's signed through 2026. I also looked back at the draft profiles and scouting reports for Braxton and Kiran. Braxton was projected to be a swing while Kiran projected to be a high ceiling left tackle project. I'm intrigued with what our new staff can get out of him.

Yes sir. I loved it! Upon his hire, he also sent a message to the players, "get comfortable with being uncomfortable".

There are several factors that go into performance of an offensive line. (Coaching, leadership, work ethic, continuity, health and skill) Coaching: we were voted the worst coached team in the NFL last year. With good coaching, you motivate a solid off season program. Does anyone think they worked hard on their strength and conditioning. Thayer called them out on that. Play calling also stands out in this category. Leadership: the only leader we had on the OL was a washed up TE. Now, we have Thuney. From what people say, he will absolutely be a vocal and physical leader. Work ethic: we now have a great OL coach and Thuney. From Johnson on down, there will be an installation of work ethic. There's no question why we didn't offer Jenkins a penny. Continuity: with Jenkins, Nate Davis and Jones missing portions of TC, it's hard to gel. I think they said we used 58 OL combinations the last two years. Availability together is crucial. Skill: the only starters we had above fifth round picks were Jenkins and Wright. That doesn't cut it. Failing to invest in the trenches has been a franchise killer for decades. Of course people make it from all over the draft, but the success rates from the first two rounds are significantly better than any other position group. Great teams draft trenches yearly. Prediction: we know we upgraded three positions and Jones isn't that bad. Our OL will drastically improve. My guess is we'll cut sacks in half and increase YPC by 1.5 yards. Wish list: draft two more to push backups out the door. Give Kiran a boot camp to see what he can provide as a prospect. 2026 draft two more until we know we're stacked.

Me too on Banks. More proven. To answer your other question. James Pierce
