  1. I have a feeling they are trying to get Forte done to figure out what is left to spend. I agree with Terra, don't get the Weems signing.(maybe the plan will reveal itself)
  2. Thing is, a healthy balance is best. One or two big recievers is all anyone would to create mismatches. There are advantages to having smurfs as well. They can sit in holes, cut and accellerate faster. I'm thrilled we got Marshall and am in the minority of wanting Roy back.(incentive driven contract only) But, Bennett has his niche and Hester/Knox have their field streching ability. Lastly, big receivers that are skilled are NOT a dime a dozen. Sometimes the value is in the smaller guy.
  3. Your obsession with height is bizarre at times.
  4. Like it all, except cutting Williams.
  5. As it stands now, I'd wager 4 of the 7 picks will be D.
  6. Exactly! I haven't posted since FA started, but I've been thinking the same regarding freeing up cap space. To add to your comments; they can restructure contracts from the likes of Url and Peppers. They can also backload the deal and offer greater guaranteed money. Williams reluctance to sign with the Bills tells me he is considering "other options". It could still be us. There is a way if the Bears see it as THE piece that gets them over... Do I agree with a team gambling the future for instant gratification - generally no. In this case, you're damn straight I do!!!
  7. Anybody want Dallas Clark, Joe Addai, Gary Bracket or Melvin Bullit? Geez, they put Freeney on the block...
  8. Yes. Thats's why we re-sign Roy.(Only if it's in his contract to hit camp in shape) Cut his ass the first time he misses practice time for being tired. He's a big target, good blocker, knows the O and was best on team at getting separation at the LOS. Now, if he can cut the drops by a few. Knox is a longshot to even play IMO.
  9. Couldn't vote from my phone, but I'll take NYJ.
  10. He looked good against the Bears last year too. Got a chance to watch that one in person. Dude is a beast.
  11. Agreed. Our offense will not thrive until we have a difference maker as a playmaker. None of our skill positions are currently that. Forte is a blue collar running back and all of our recievers are complimentary at best. Jackson is a threat on any down to make plays and move the chains. He can fight for bailout throws and will command double teams in the red zone creating favorable matchups for personnel and gameplan. Gotta have him!
  12. Would love to get Jackson and Wimbley. I'm almost willing to bet Manning will not be a Redskin. I think it's Miami or the Jets. Keep in mind Jim Caldwell and Tom Moore are now with the Jets.
  13. yes, yes, yes, yes and yes... BTW - crap is gonna continue to fly about Jackson, because they want him to stay. Ask Denver about Cutler, Carolina about Peppers. Hell, Indy will be crying at the press conference tomorrow....
  14. "You want the truth!? You can't handle the truth!" The high ranking officials were not found guilty of the same charges as the others. Due process was served. Howbeit, people got hosed. The Nicholson quote above, however, does ring true. If you are proven guilty of orchestrating the code red, you will pay the higher price. In the NFL, your moms' old saying, "if so an so jumped off a cliff, would you?", does not apply. We are talking about people deciding carreer choices for others. If I don't deliver the hit, coach WILL find someone who will. It's obvious to former players and coaches as well. The consensus is, the coaches are the most guilty, if indeed the stories are true.
  15. Thanks DB. We looked a WIKI and ASK. One said Midnight the other said Navy. Does anyone have info from an official Bears site? Or a Bears "history" book?
  16. It all starts with leadership! Great posts. I got your back!
  17. I need to win a bet. Is our blue "midnight" or "navy"? I need some concrete evidence. Help!
  18. He wouldn't give a nickle he didn't have to...
  19. Not sure here, so I'm asking... Would that be this or next years 1st rounder???
  20. I'm going to play devil's advocate here. Forte is going to be 27 years old this season and has "above average" mileage on his body. What type of contract is effective in this scenario? Logic and history dictate that he has only two good seasons left. Would he even accept a 3 or 4 year deal? 3 being best for the Bears, 4+ better for Forte. IMO - there is no way Chris Johnson and AP live out the deals they just signed. The devil behind the scene is: locker room moral, Fortes' overall happiness, team reputation, competetiveness, and cap health. A lot can swing during this negotiation.
  21. Don't get me wrong, I want more talent brought in. I wish I knew what the deal is with Williams. I simply don't have faith in Webb. Also, IMO, Williams has not had the opportunity.
  22. Agreed. Williams was regarded as a great pick by all the draft experts. He has the tools, lets see if he can use them. Unless of course, it has already been determined by the coaches that he can't play...
