Count the defensive players and rounds they were selected in. That's why the talent on O is not there. Angelo has failed to draft or Lovie has failed to develop. Can't put my finger on it. Defense will continue to be the focus untill they get it right. That being said, how long would an effective offensive draft take to be successful? Don't think Cutler will live that long. Martz can go, cause we'll never draft that way with current leadership...

Or we could play a 3-4, with Peppers at LB shadowing Tebow wherever he goes. Tebow wouldn't last to halftime. LOL

There are 3 positions that are very hard to get in free agency. Franchise QB, LT and DE. We don't need QB, so I'll take LT and DE for our premium picks. If we can spend to get a a good WR or two in FA, I'd like to bolster the secondary and LB corps. As much as I want the OL to be beastly, I think it is time to let them gel once we get the steal of draft with our new LT.

Having no contract to fall back on, this is as reigned in as he's gonna get.

Heres the thing, the dumbass knew he was the primary target of the route and was coming open. Next step is to catch the brown thing. Perfect throw and anticipation by Hanie. Like I said, I would have cut him and Frank the stank in the locker room.

Good play, horrble call. Down and distance was great, but field position, personnel and stadium was stupid. 2nd and 1 inside the ten is not where you take that chance. (especially with the personnel you have) You simply get the first and goal and do what you do best. Nothing with special timing or that the players are inexperienced with. That's where Martz outsmarts himself. As far as personnel is concerned, Martz has to sit down with Lovie and JA and say, "This is where we are at. And this is what we can do as a result of." Instead, Martz does his thing and has to be told to tone it down. JA is responsible for talent and Martz is responsible for how it is used. He loves to beat that square peg into a round hole. I think the OL has improved, but agree they are the weakest link.(with WR a close 2nd) That being said, you dummy it down until they find an identity. Also, agree OL is priority one, but only to find an LT. I like our other opening day starters. JA is to blame for striking out on so many DL's and Safeties in the draft.(No room for OL) I think he is experiencing the same frustration Ron Turner went through. Thing is, Turner didn't try to get cute with it or jeopardize the QB's health. He was predictable, maybe by default. I think if Turner would have had Cutler and Forte things may have boded a little better for him. I simply believe Martz's best days have passed him by.

Not a bad performance by the defense, considering they were on the field all day. Completely dismal performance by our offense. If you could give our offensive coaching staff an F--, I would. I'd also have cut Williams AND Omiyale in the locker room. How do you get a false start on a FG? Just one to many crucial drops for Roy. Martz has to go at the end of the season as well. That offensive performance was as dysfunctional as I've ever seen. Of course that jackass will say it was execution. You have to give your guys a chance with a game plan they can execute Mike. It was obvious Hanie was overwhelmed. It needs simplified for him.

I would leave Louis at rg and Carimi at rt. I think that gives the right side an identity for the next decade. If they are dominant it will apply constant peer pressure to the left side. I'm still for drafting an lt early.
-
I would rather get another LT prospect in the 1st round of the draft. Carimi is more of a protypical RT. He and Louis on the right side develops an identity of physical nastiness. I don't want to lose that.

This is Lovie's greatest attribute. Is there a classier coach in the NFL?
-
I'd start with Bennett, but would love to see VJ or Bowe. I would also re-sign Roy on the cheap with the condition he show up in shape. Lastly Garcon would be a nice addition, as he is the fastest reciever on the Colts and is physical at the line of scrimmage. Hester should then be relegated to full time return specialist.

This is my exact problem with Martz. First off, he still thinks he is smarter than everyone else. Even if he is, he needs to dummy it down for the personnel he has. I said before he got hired, that he gets quarterbacks killed and is a stubborn egomaniac. I don't trust him and never will. I'd prefer he find a new home. A new offensive coordinator will save Cutler's career. Three years of Martz has done squat. Jason?

Completely disagree. He wanted to come here, the Bears wanted him. He's a grown man and makes his own descisions. That's what was best for KO. He's done nothing to warrant bad gossip anywhere.
-
Nice find. That takes number two off my list!

Nobody in NFL game shape knows the Martz system. I pick Orton up without question. 1) I don't think he'll make it to us on waivers and 2) I doubt he would agree to come here.

Espn has reported out is broken and he will miss the remainder of the regular season. The Bears won't use the IR in case of payoffs, a he could be ready. Interesting side note: Rachael Nichols called Hester last night to get a scoop and Hester thought she was joking. He thought he was ok in the huddle and lock room after the game. Never knew he was injured. What a pussy that Cutler is...

I think Moore and Stafford should be reversed, as Stafford started it. The Fairley fine is bullcrap. (15K for a millionaire for intentionally trying to hurt a franchise QB.) I wonder if the fine would be the same if Peppers plants Rodgers on Christmas day??

Heading to Chicago tomorrow for a great weekend. The cherry on top will be my first Bears game at Soldier Field.(Girlfriend got us tickets!) If anyone wants to meet for pre/post game libations. Let me know.

I think Martz called an appropriate game for the scenario the defense handed him. I also believe he is good with a short leash. There were the gadget plays in the game that drove me nuts and that was it for my Martz wrath. The flip toss to Forte was completely inappropriate for the down and distance. Now, if they were in a pro set and faked to Forte and flipped to Clutts, that may have worked. But, when Forte is X percent of your offense, he is always going to be keyed upon. (especially on 3rd and 1) On the other hand, the halfback option is a great play call if you have the dominant running game. Maybe Martz saw an opportunity with a cheating safety earlier that we didn’t pick up on. My two issues with that play were that it was not needed and Forte did an atrocious job of selling it. I called that play on his first two steps. (as I think most of us did) I would have much rather he save that for Green Bay on Christmas or the playoffs. Better yet, when Forte knows how to sell it.

Here I am! Honestly, that's not a good game to make that analogy. I'm sure it could have been more of a blowout, but the high road is good practice against a division opponent. Good game!
