  1. Who is your most hated Bears player of all time? RW McQuarters - I'll never forget the game he cost us by begging for the lateral instead of throwing the block that would have scored the TD. Who is your most loved Bears player of all time? 100% Sweetness. He's my all-time hero.
  2. We have some safeties that will lay the wood on you now. I've been wanting that since Harris/Brown combo'd. Harris, Wright, Afalava and Steltz are all hitters. Maybe they'll fuel each other as a unit. Glad to see Chris back, but only as a SS. I think it may be the end of the road for Bullocks and Manning.
  3. Is Rashied still on the roster? If Barnes can play ST, cut Rashied immediately. There is no way I see them cutting Iglesias, so he's #5.
  4. A rookie pay scale would be a great thing for the NFL. The only losers in this are the rookies and their agents. Here are the benefits: Teams would be able to slot their pick and sign them relatively easy. Teams would have players signed and in camp, on time. Teams would be able to part ways with a JaMarcus Russell type player. More money out of the pie goes to the veteran players who have earned it. Can you imagine the trades that would occur? Teams would be more likely to try to trade up again. As of now you have the quad whammy of paying a rookie a huge amount of money, he may be a bust, you’ve given a ton of picks to move up and you can’t get rid of him. At least with the rookie scale, you don’t get creamed on money and saddled with JaMarcus Russell. Most important for the NFL as a whole: if the rookies come in and have to earn their stripes, we will see greater work ethic out of our young players trying to get their big payday. It will funnel down through the college ranks as well. It may even get rid of some of the entourages a little sooner with athletes thinking they haven’t earned their nest egg yet. So many positives, so little negatives.
  5. I'm sure when they look at the last 2 years of film on him, his value will be pretty close to set by that. They'll know by the play or what everyone else is doing if he is grading well in his matchups.

    Mark My Words

I actually believe it this time. I think with the mandate they were given; it more than likely had the stipulation that they not mortgage the future in an attempt to keep their jobs. So we'll have a friendly wager??
  7. I wanted Suggs, but his 40 time wasn't good enough for team, "Men in Shorts".
  8. Totally agree. I was on a jury where they had less evidence. We were told all we had to do to convict was believe the testimony of the victim. We unfortunately did not convict due to conflicting jurors. But, after the case was over, the judge summoned us to a private meeting with the defense atty and prosecutor and asked how we came to our conclusion. The prosecutor made notes of his failure, re-tried the bastard and he got 90 years. If you or I was Big Ben, we'd be in the slammer.
  9. I actually like the way the schedule plays out for us. It's a softer at the front, which will allow the offense to get some continuity against some weaker opponents. It ends brutally the last four games. Hopefully we are playing for a playoff spot and are firing on all cylinders by then.
  10. Scoring points is not what I'm concerned about with Martz. It's the position he can put the defense and his QB in. If we can get to the other teams QB this year, I have hope. Otherwise, it could be a long ugly year.
  11. What bothers me the most is that we only have 25 Angelo drafted players on the team. I am a big advocate of building your team via the draft. Does anyone have any stats on what the norm is for winning programs? I would think at least 35.
  12. Man, I read that yesterday and decided not to post on it because it really pissed me off. I've always had the impression that Lovie has been in love with "men in shorts". At some point, we have to have "football players". You don't see Bill Polian drafting players and trying to turn them into something else. He drafts a safety to play safety and a tackle to play tackle. I use Polian as an example because he's drafting the same type of defenders we are. If you look at who he's had to replace over the last 5 years, it would blow your mind. Angelo is equally as guilty in this, the buck stops with him. I actually think they are co-enablers to each other. Isn't one of Lovies famous idiot quotes, "we'll have to see what happens once the pads come on"??? Men in shorts, sheesh!
  13. Mildly disagree on this. I don't think Scheffler is a guage for Olsen. Scheffler and Olsen are the same type of player, but the similarities stop there. Olsen is bigger, faster, better hands, and better attitude. Rumor had it that Denver was going to cut Scheffler. (Of course that is just speculation) I'm not saying we'll get a 2nd for him, but it's not ludicrous to think it possible. I still look at NE. They have the perfect system to Olsen to play in and are probably salivating at the thought of adding that weapon to their arsenal. They have three 2nd rounders and a choice to make. Do we draft our TE and plan on him being a 40% chance of meeting or exceeding his draft status. Or do we take Olsen, who we know has great hands, works hard and has a good attitude? Sure, it might be a reach for NE to pony up a 2nd, but look at the value. JA still has the leverage to say Olsen is a weapon for us and the price is a 2nd. Either we get the 2nd or stays with us. IMO - if we traded him and didn't get value, I'd be more pissed than letting Alex Brown walk over money. I think Olsen is worth a late 2nd to 3rd. I would not trade him for any reason past the middle of the 3rd round.
  14. Agree and Disagree Agree if Cutler returns to Pro-Bowl form. The price for a QB of that caliber is easily > than 2 of any other position. Disagree if Cutler doesn't mature into a better steward of the ball and leader of this team, then 2 Pro-Bowlers is good for them on Cutler alone.
  15. Agree with not mortgaging the future. I will add a twist though. This draft is rumored to be ultra deep in talent. If that plays out in getting a little more this year, than next. I'm all for it, if the value is good.
  16. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor...&id=5062971 OK guys, I’m bored. Above is a link to an Albert Haynesworth “on the block” article. Here’s a guy that’s a beast when healthy. I salivate at the thought of having a guy like him line up next to Tommie Harris. Our line could look like a train wreck coming at opposing QB’s. …And he could actually be affordable, as the Redskins already paid him a 21 million roster bonus this year. Thoughts??
  17. Agreed, they are not the same. Forte's ranking is based on percentages of snap, assignments and flubs. Also, given that he was asked to block a higher percentage of time, tells me he should have been more prepared to be successfull. Heck, being asked to pass block that much tells me, he should have been in the zone.
  18. Disagree x 5 1) His speed is upper level for a TE. 2) He does have good hands, as stated in another post with stats to back it up. 3) The combination of size, speed, hands and route running make him potentially special.(remember he's young) 4) If he's on the team he will not ride the pine. 5) Teams will either want to trade him or not. Him being a free agent next year doesn't mean squat.
  19. I would like to see Martz adapt as well. However, Martz is notoriously stubborn because he knows his system will work if executed properly. Problem is, you don't pick it up in one season and your QB does get killed. I have less faith than most that Cutler will sit there and take it in the chops all season long. He had some moments this year where he showed good toughness and others where he was throwing off his back foot due to lack of. I just hate to see Cutler get the shit beat out of himself this year for a lame duck staff and system. I truly hope I'm wrong about Martz, but I will stand by all comments I have made past and present. Don't like him, never wanted him.
  20. There were a few of things I noticed from him: He looks like a Tillman clone I would look strongly into footage of him playing closer to the LOS. His highlight reel consisted of mainly playing 15yds deep and backpedalling at the snap. Playing that style in Lovies D will get the middle of the field killed. In the centerfield theater he looks strong. Good ball skills and anticipation. On run support, he looks questionable at best. Plays too high for NFL RB's. Good motor and does not give up on the play. I'm interested.
  21. I'm torn on how this went down. I like the fact that JA lets vets go and have a chance to sign elsewhere. This could help with signing free agents and for locker room morale. On the other hand, screw it, this is a business. Holding on to him would have hurt what? I don't think he had big bonuses coming before camp. Players get hurt all the time and his trade value could have improved. Of course there is always the part we have not heard(or may never) Then I factor in the pro's and con's: Pro = we save money. Or... free up money. Con = we lose a starter Con = very durable Con = consumate pro Pro = a young guy get more PT
  22. That being said, would it surprise you?

    Possible Guard

I think this may be close to JA's injury/character picks. We didn't lose too awful much in this. Claude Harriott Mark Bradley Airese Currie Dan Bazuin Kevin Payne Corey Graham Chris Williams Marcus Monk Tank Johnson Marcus Harrison DJ Williams Jarron Gilbert - just cause he can jump out of a pool.
  25. Agree that it's not a big deal the trade is out. Disagree somewhat on his trade value. If we trade for a pick, we lose his contract and get a mid-late pick. So, if we invest the money on an OG or FS - great. The draft pick is a plus. If we trade for a player, we lose his contract and hopefully get a servicable OG or FS. Either way, the team gets better and the money is a wash. Where we get hurt is trading him for a pick and not using the extra money to improve elsewhere. Also, cutting him, we get nothing. I do think there is trade value for him with other teams as well. He's due to make 5 mil, with Kampman ans Vandenbosch making 7 mil. Some team in need of a solid DE may call that a fair deal. All told, if I can't get a decent trade, no way do I cut him loose quickly. There are many things that can happen between now and TC that can help his stock. I know we owe it to him to have an opportunity to find a team, but he's made good money and it's dog eat dog with our team right now.
