Really, a third Moss thread...

27 mil would be the low end of the figure. Could be 31. Plus teams are allowed a 3 mil buffer to be applied the following season. There will also be some people that get cut, but that will be more than offset by the FA's that need resigned.
-
Also add that Eli didn't have Martz getting him murdered every week.(that's on Lovie) Plus, NYG has had their line in place for years.(that's on Angelo)

I think the point was to make Garza the starter and bring in Spencer as insurance in case Garza failed. Garza knew the offense and how Olin set the protection. With vitually no offseason for another player to learn, it was a great move as the Bears were desparate to solidify the position. Why else do you think they wanted to WAY overpay, an over the hill, Kruetz? That is one move I'll give Angelo credit for. It may seem pointless now, due to Garza exceeding expectations at center. He's actually better at center than guard and was an upgrade over Olin. Good for Garza, as it gave him a nice extension and prolonged his carreer. Spencer can still be the center of the future as he learns his craft from Garza.

Send me your address! We will drink and make merry!!!!

Not sure about Adams. He sounds like a Webb clone. From what I'm reading, it's going to take him a season or so to develop. I'm leaning toward the young WR, with the condition we take one in FA. Would love if we had Bowe and Floyd.
-
I'd love to have Osi, but not at the cost of losing Briggs. He is the only enforcer have on D. I'm afraid there would be a huge identity loss with him missing.

Your points are valid. Agreed the talent is sketchy, but the point is they were still utilized after they left here and we cold have used some of them. Does it really matter if they were drafted or FA's? I still have a hard time believing Angelo drafted all the defensive talent he did without the ringing endorsement of Lovie. The fact that so many defenders were brought in/drafted and failed or were not developed is on who? I hope Lovie is evolving as a coach. It seemed like more young players had opportunities last year. Some by choice, others by need. I just don't think he deserved a pass.

You and Madlith = Spot on!

It's funny you mention that. I was reading an ESPN article from 2010 that talked about the Bears having 15 players on playoff teams that year. To the present, we add D Manning and M Anderson to the list. Both performed well with Manning starting for a top defense and Anderson reaching double digit sacks again. It also points to former staff stating a lack of player development. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/colu...&id=4814118 Also http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...,7233049.column As much as I'm glad Angie is gone, the true culprit still lurks...

That's an interesting thought.

Agreed, we don't need an OG as much as other areas. IMO - with the addition of one good tackle, our OL will be a pleasant surprise next season. We are in an inviable position of having a ton of cap space next season. I'm thinking we can re-sign our current players, add 3 new starters and have a nice draft. It is imperative that we sign a top FA WR to provide flexibility on draft day and get instant production. That way if a top CB or DE is availible, we dont choose need over a great prospect of a smaller need.

I wouldn't be mad at that pick.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...,7233049.column Madlith and I could have written this.(and NFO, wherever he is) Been saying it for years.

Davis and Spaeth should suffice. They are part of the OL and I prefer the continuity they will provide. If some plays are designed for Davis, I believe he can be a 30 catch guy.

I hate him, but under the conditions you described, I'd look at him. And yes, hell may have frozen over...

You know most men endeavor to rule a kingdom. I am no different. The new GM has a daunting task this offseason and I'm going to play the role. Here's my agenda... 1) Send a letter to Briggs agent, telling Briggs to play this year, keep his mouth shut and we will extend him next year. A message needs to be sent by the new leadership, that stongarm tactics will not be tolerated. However, good play and locker room leadership will be rewarded. 2) Message to players Part II. Find a way to get Forte under contract. This a veteran team and Forte deserves the loyalty of NOT being franchised. A little good will goes a long way in the locker room. 3) Sign a top WR at all cost. Our immediate needs will not be met in the draft. This is the only way to complete our offense. Draft a complimentary understudy high in the draft. 4) Fix the damn OL! I think we are a LT away fom having a servicable young OL. The addition of a LT talent, with the continuity a full offseason will bring, should reap huge benefits. 5) After our OL and WR needs are met, draft defense, defense, defense. Our D is aging, plus the new bodies will be valuable ST players. 6) Sign our key free agents, depend on Lovie to provide insight on who they are. Of course, the above items are not timeline specific, but all need done. Items one and two set the tone, four through six set the table. Lastly, find a way to pin Lovie to something He has NOT been held accountable for anything in his tenure. From getting rid of Chico with the infamous "trust me", to "Rex Grossman is our quarterback", to firing Turner as a scapegoat, to Martz... He has proven to be made of teflon, but I have a hard time believing that talent issues were on JA alone. Lovie has to stand and deliver or answer the turk. I am that turk! LOL

Irsay is becoming more and more of a Jerry Jones type of owner. He used to stay out of the football portion of the business, but now is constantly tweeting and putting out other nutty football related memos. He wanted Bill Polian to fire Chris Polian, who was in charge of the last few of Indy's drafts. Funny thing though, Bill Polian always had a horrible backup in place, in the great Jim Sorgi. Both Polians did know their talent was dwindling a little. But with so much invested on the offensive side of the ball, they little choice. As AZ54 pointed out, it worked pretty well for 11 years. Add to that, how many years did it work in Buffalo? He didn't do so bad in Carolina either. I'll take Bill Polian in a heartbeat.(even if he brings Chris along) He'd be the best thing to enter Halas Hall since Jim Finks.
