  1. Offense and defense have to do their part to win the TOP battle. Our problem has been two fold with it, with the O and D failing at differing points of the game. One more stop per game on D and one more 1st down on O and we are on the plus side. In considering Indy: that's why Manning won MVP again, because rarely teams can pull off what they do.
  2. While Orton taking a team to the promised land is always debatable. So is the fact that Cutler has never directed a team to a winning record. (College or Pro) Just sayin'...
  3. I love the thought of Hester in the slot. I also like Bennett for that role too. Bennett has the natural feel and hands for the middle of the field, while Hester has everything else. Imagine Hester getting loose in the seam... Anyway, maybe Hester and Bennett can share the slot so Hester can stay fresher for return duties and explosive plays.
  4. I have no problem with adding Holt as long as he is guaranteed nothing. Whatever spot he earns, he earns. I, like NFO, Madlith and others have no trust in the staff to make the right decision on this though. I think adding Holt would be a positive influence on our younger guys, plus keep them hungry to pull their weight. If they have no competition for a roster or starting spot. They could prove to be a little lax in the off season and camp. If they are going to learn Martzs' complex system they need to 1) be sharp and competetive, 2) use Holt as a mentor.
  5. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...neil09.article# The above article talks about the importance of keeping our D off the field. I have preached this for years and have been met with strong debate. This article doesn't vindicate me by any stretch, but does convey my exact thoughts on the situation and will use that as a sounding board, because there is no way I could have said it better. I posted in another thread that Martz would not provide an advantage needed in Time of Possession (TOP). I'll admit being half wrong about his offense's ability to hold a TOP advantage. With the other half yet to play out, as we will need to see it with Bears players.
  6. Pretty much agree. But, will also remain leary because I simply don't trust the board to do what is best for the team at this point. This is going to be one looong off-season for me.
  7. Isn't Briggs good for comments like this once a year????
  8. "Hey Rod, we can't find anyone to take the DC position. We really need for you to be a team player and take the position." It was probably something like that. Rod's probably thinking his career is over now. LOL
  9. I was really tying one on last night. When my brother and I saw the commercial, we loved it. Call me sick, but I loved it again on the youtube link today. I thought it was intentionally tacky and funny as hell. We all need to understand how much non-Bear fans hate the real shuffle. So, anything new had to be a spoof.
  10. All I am giving him credit for is running the offense. He didn't build the personnel. He was a huge part of something great. The greatness has been gone awhile and he had the ability to keep it going and couldn't. And he hasn't done anything since. As I stated earlier, I am dying to be wrong about him.
  11. He had nothing to do with building that team. That's like saying Turner was responsible for bringing in Cutler. Dick Vermeil built that team giving Martz a perfect combination of components. Silver platter! Keep drinking the aid on this one, but my stance does not change on Martz. If you know me, I love to be proven wrong and pray it is this year. I've just seen too much of Martz to have confidence in him. Anyway, how does this guy go jobless for the last couple of years if he is so good? I guess we were the only ones smart enough to figure it out... Like so many other items. Regarding Lovie, his accomplishments are outweighed by his failures. He did ruin our SB team. If he didn't, what are your reasons for the window slamming shut so quickly?
  12. Speculation and debate is what we are here for. He stated his opinion and I stated mine. I think we all hope for the best. The ultra talented team Lovie ruined was after the superbowl year. The superbowl Martz ruined was against the Pats. Remember he failed to run the ball when the Pats were daring them too. You can't spit out how great his record was because that team was handed to him on a silver platter. Look at what he has done since and you will see the real Mike Martz. We'll just have to agree to disagree on the defense. Grizz, you got the wrong guy here. I will never stop being a Bears 1st fan. You have not or will ever hear me talk like that. Am I dissatisfied? Hell yeah. Disloyal? Never. I'm glad you think the Bears are a playoff team this year. I just don't see it.
  13. Yea I knew that, I was mainly referring to the boys club Lovie continues to have reign over. Now, we're wasting an intern type spot on his kid. You have that luxury with a winning program, not this one. Just one more example that Lovie does not get it.
  14. Lovie's son! Wait, here it comes again. Nuf said.
  15. I disagree with them giving extra fight this year. First, I think anyone in the profession is competetive as hell and always puts forth an effort to succeed. IE: coaches are always maxed out. I simply think the floor for Lovie is lower than the league average for coaches. He took an ultra talented team that was supposed to be great, despite Rex Grossman, and turned it into a steaming pile. Marinelli did little to nothing to improve our D line. Tice and Martz seem to fit together like "Heat Miser and Cold Miser". Who knows what real young talent we have, because the staff has proven inept at developing them. Lastly, I can't stand Mike Martz as an OC choice. He single handedly cost the Rams a Superbowl because of his arrogant / stubborn play calling. Plus, his system is not easily learned in a yeard time. I'll be drunk on kool-aid come opening day. But, today, I;m just not feeling it. I agree we should see how the off-season unfolds before we condemn the team, but it's realistic to expect the worst at this point. Hopefully, we get some great talent fall to us in the draft due to more underclassmen declaring. And hopefully the money we saved by not canning Lovie gets applied to a free agent signing bonus or two.
  16. Tampa 2 or not, he will be a good fit. The Colts secondary was decimated with injury this year and still continue to perform. As a matter of fact, the Colts seem to lose D player after D player and continue to perform on a yearly basis. Even if he is not the author, he is definately a huge part of the book. A best selling one at that. I'll take him.
  17. No! LOL I meant that they allow players to save face by letting them come out with a spin.
  18. It seems to the staff's MO. That is a major thing II like about JA and Lovie.
  19. I think the most significant stat Martz will bring is a greater deficit in "Time of Possession". This will place our weak Defense on the the field a lot longer than it should. That's not a Cutler stat, but it does keep it real. It think Cutler improves on yards, TD's and breaks even on int's this year, but gets killed in the process.
  20. Not gonna get ripped by me, because I said it the day BEFORE they fired him.
  21. You are the man! Pass the kool-aid...
  22. Call it the apex of sarcasm. I like that you see the bright side of the matter. I just don't see much victory in sucking next season. ...making our QB shell shocked for the rest of his carreer...
  23. There are 100+ coaches I would pick before Martz. Including Shoop. I'm serious. Besides keeping Lovie, this is the 2nd worst move in the last 5 years. Here's to the mad genius gaining some balance in his master plan.
  24. Maybe Cowher wasn't quite ready yet... That's the beauty of conspiracy theories. You can't debate them almost infinitely.
  25. Yeah, his title is WR coach / asst head coach. I think more is in the works for him in Indy. All depends on how long Moore wants to do it. Thinking Colts, I have an idea for a new Prez, Chris Polian. He is Colts VP of football operations and comes from great stock.
