  1. Al that to say you were wrong. I'll never get those 2 minutes back...
  2. Exactly what I was going to post but worded better! I do also like Pix's take on getting back to normal on draft picks. All told, I think trading next years 1st for an early 2nd would be OK. I want to start winning sooner than later. Plus we have a ton of holes with the prospect of a crappy FA class. We can zero up the draft another year. One more thing: I don't think Angelo will draft any project players this year, as he knows his time may soon be up.
  3. This is why I believe they should have kept Turner if they weren't completely cleaning house: 1) The team already knows the playbook and the plabook is solid. Hiring a consultant was my idea last year and think it would've been the least expensive route this year. Look at Tom Moore in Indy as an example. I would even endorse Martz for that role. 2) As the OL progressed, the team progressed. Hiestand was a good choice for the scapegoat, as OL coaches are easy to come by. 3) DA was also a pleasant surprise at the end. I wonder if it was Turner or Lovie holding him back? Same with young Williams. 4) I've always been a proponent of validation. With a young QB like Cutler, continuity is a bonus. No luxury on that this off season. We now have to start with a whole new set of standards. 5) Good OC candidates are more than likely leary to cut their teeth with a lameduck staff. It's going to be a huge gamble that could possibly be a career killer.
  4. Way to trainwreck a perfectly good rant LT! Buzzkiller...
  5. No way in hell do I want Martz near this football team. His system worked once and it was a perfect storm. He has since tried and failed miserably. He's a little nutty for what we need...
  6. I was just being sarcastic. We all thought it was make or break for Lovie when he took over the defense. He placed his head firmly on the chopping block, said the D would be better and failled to deliver again. It's easy for Phillips and ownership to clean house after they have played us for fools and saved having to eat Lovie and/or Jerry's salaries next year. They came out and said money was not a factor and the question wasn't asked yet.(HMMMM) Give me a month or so and I'll try to discuss more positive issues, but right now I'm still tasting crap.
  7. Nice one, Madlith. I wholeheartedly agree. I really bet that the ownership did not factor how pissed us fans are. I'm sure my boycott will do little, but if a million Bear fans refuse to buy their shit, they would think differently. It is corporate thinking that rules our team. Take maximized dividends and hope the market does not fall lower than forcasted. It reeks of cheap, but it is their business.
  8. Sorry, wasn't this last season?
  9. I'll take Weis, Saunders and Fassell.(in order) It would also be good to have Bates in a capacity less than OC. What's Billick up to? I kinda like him too. He seems to know what to do with a big armed mobile QB.
  10. A poop sandwich dressed up with the best of trimmings, still tastes like poop.
  11. Agreed, except hell no to Martz. I think he's way too full of himself to be effective anymore.
  12. That's actually pretty damn good
  13. Totally agree with you and Uncle Buck. I just posted the same thought on one of NFO's posts. BTW - just heard on ESPN that Marinelli will be running the D. (about 5PM)
  14. All these moves mean, is that the McCaskey family is still firmly in charge of this team. This move reeks of ineptitude and penny pinching. They save around 8 figures by keeping these clowns and are counting on us fans to continue to sell out their stadium, buy their concessions and buy their NFL merchandise. I am boycotting all of it. If billboards, polls and paper ads are not heard from the fans, we need to make them pay by hurting their pocketbook. I'll be a fan as ususal, but the extent will be TV and internet.
  15. If the Bears management takes the cheap, I mean gutless, I really meant stupid way out and retains Lovie and staff I want to see only two maybe three changes made. 1) Fire Pep 2) Fire Harry Where's Turner you ask? I keep him. Kill me all you want, but hear me out. We all know Lovie is a lame duck, so whoever the new OC is, is lame duck as well. Also, as our OL began to gell our O started to produce. We all know it's too much too little and too late, but can a new OC deliver dramatic success in one year. People bring up up Martz: we all need to realize his playbook is complex and can not be mastered in a year. Also, look at his track record with Detroit and SF.(not good) So, I weigh the option of another year of Turner or running someone's partial offense. My votr goes to 100% of the Turner offense vs 75% of a new offense. New DC you ask? Do we really ever think it will be anything else than Lovie's D? If Lovie was given a mandate to let his new DC have complete controll over the D, I would accept someone new. Otherwise, Lovie placed his head on the block and I'd rather it stay there untill he is done. Personnel is another topic. Fire away all...
  16. "There is a lot wrong with the whole organization, but it is not Lovie,'' Kreutz said. That was enough for me to shut Olin off. I wish one of the oversized boxing gloves would have shot out of the wall and slobberknocked him when he said that. Lovie has a lot to do with the talent on the field and how that talent performs when on the field. Moreso than Angelo. Lovie has lost IT.
  17. I would actually put more picks into the O. I would draft a RB, FB, OG and OT.(in no particular order) That's 4 for the offense. Maybe get a good FB in FA. Who knows.
  18. Please tell me they called holding on that play...
  19. OMG! They are at 81% of goal already. Give give give!!!
  20. Wouldn't you just throw something through your TV?...
  21. I love it! This team / season has made you a combination of the Randy Quaid character in "Major League" and the one and only Terra Tor. AZ54 posted a possible 2010 boycott of the beloved. I may follow suit, rooting from afar and definately not spending any coin. I honestly don't know who sucks worse, Lovie or Angelo. It all goes to Chicken V Egg on whether it's coaching or lack of talent. I want it all blown up. I'm even regretting the Cutler trade to a certain degree.
  22. Also with the Bears, it's all about money. I'm sure the family sees paraphinalia sales dropping in comparison to other teams. It all depends on the numbers and projected numbers if they raise hopes by firing Lovie. Remember as well, they probably won't have to eat Lovie's whole contract. He'll more than likely negotiate a settlement so he can coach elsewhere. He's definately not broadcast booth material.
  23. Wait a bit. Coach Caldwell said he will let everyone know what his plan is with Manning and the rest of the starters. Good luck.
  24. He essentially called the team out in just about every way you can. Angelo and Lovie have to to go... Defense has lost it's desire... All about getting paid... Talked about players woofin before the game and then not giving effort. Loves Cutler, says he'd start a team with him... Want the staff to give Cutler his own playbook, says he's running Rex's old plays. Talked about how Buddy Ryan was forced on Ditka by Halas as a result of a meeting Alan Page and another team leader. (descision was made b4 previous coach was fired) Says his knees feel great... It just seemed like he's clear thinking and lucid. Not like the other rants we've heard in the past. He really is a sharp guy tolisten to. I hope you find a way to listen. It's about 15 minutes.
  25. http://www.1070thefan.com/dakich/podcast.aspx?pn=3 Scroll down to the inteview from 12-03-09. Talk about a DL coach. He was a little off on his Tomlin comments, but I agree I loved it.
