  1. I'm all for a coordinator of his caliber. At all cost and ASAP.
  2. The media has said it, we have said it and other players have said it and so on... The Bears OL is not what it used to be. My flat out opinion is this. Fix the OL 1st and the rest will follow. I believe the Sinclair move to OG is a start, as he is more athletic than Metcalf and Beekman is obviously useless. I don't want hear the rookie blah blah either. OG is the easiest offensive position to learn and play. For off season plans, I would start with telling Tait to tailor his workouts and film study for the right side. IMO - it was a great move placing him at LT when they did, but on the other hand a bonehead move leaving him there for three years with noone else in the pipeline and keeping him from his natural position of RT. You weaken the left side with this move, but are beginning to place "best fits" in their positions. 2nd, leave Kreutz alone! He may be small, fumble prone and of a distemperous nature, but we don't have any better. And he gets the boys in the weightroom. Most importantly, we'll need his stability next year. 3rd, re-sign Rueben Brown if he can get healthy. He's still the best OL on our team if his arm heals. Sign him cheap and spell him from time to time to get the youngsters some PT. And for God's sake, if he's dinged, rest him. 4th, Cut, Miller and Metcalf. 5th, draft 2 OT's on day one. It's hard to find a good one and it's time to throw numbers at the position. If you get one good one, you have hit the lottery. If you get two, that's like hitting the lottery, inheriting an oil field and the harem that goes with it. Everyone knows they will need a learning curve, that's what the TE is for. A good OC can put him in situations he can win. Also, if they don't pan out at OT, you just overpaid for guards. That upgrade needs to occur anyway. It's just not as important as OT. 6th, pay for an OG in FA if the right one is availible. Lastly, fire Turner and Hiestand. Pay top dollar for a good OC and a good OL coach will follow. All in all, I would like to change the type of OL we have. We have one of the smallest OL's in the league. If not for Tait we would have. We are a cold weather/outdoor team. IMO - we need the road grater/mauler type. That means more size and leverage. Whether we have Rex or Orton starting next next. The run game will help the pass game. The window is not closed on a SuperBowl. We should not be developing the future QB at the risk of shutting the window. Starting OL in my dream next year would be from left to right. New guy, FA OG, Kruetz, Brown, Tait. Garza can backup at both OG's and center as well as Beekman. Sinclair at backup T, as well as our other rookie.
  3. I would love to see Orton come out and run the no-huddle on the opening drive. Pass the ball 8 times in a row and get those fat bastard D tackles winded and run their asses over! Sorry boys, aint happenin. Turner is still in the booth. We lose 24-16 and move up the draft board.
  4. Yeah, we were giving them Hell weren't we?!?!? I blame Lovie for not setting Turner straight after last season. My jury is still out on how the D got F'd up. My sneaking suspicion is Lovie again. Turner must go and Lovie and Babich need to shore up the D. If not, 08 will be their last season in Chitown. Perfect timing to lure Cowher out of his sabbatical.
  5. Agreed with the cuts. I would hold off on Metcalf until camp. He may a better fit for a new scheme. (which we may have) I would add Moose to the list. Keyshawn couldn't get a job this year and Moose is in the same boat. Restructure him at the league minimum or cut him. Also, attempt to trade Griese. If not, cut him. I also like the re-signings, especially M. Brown.(I could care less about the injuries) If we could get a season out of him, it would like hitting the lottery. I'm certain he would re-structure his deal. He knows he owes us for the last 3 years. We are noticeably better with him in there. Add Rex to a cost effective contract as well. It makes no sense to just let him fly with no clear replacement. Franchising Berrian is not a good option. If he doesn't sign a market value contract with the Bears, so what. He'll never be a #1. He's a puss and has diplayed a lack of instinct on many occasions. There are other guys out there and they may even pass block. As far as the draft in concerned, there several top LT prospects in this draft. We get one, period. If we can do it in a trade down scenario, fine. If not, we keep our pick. We do not settle for mediocrity here. We get the best one we can get. Look what Joe Thomas has done for the rowns, this year. Odds are always against a stud remaining a stud from college to pro, but as you draft farther down the odds get even worse. Hitting here could be huge for a decade or more and the true key to developing a franchise QB. If we can't get a great LT, we'll always be a running team. I also draft a safety, RB and WR on day one. Free agency would include a stud OG and Safety.
  6. Turned must be fired. Remember when we were winning and questioning some of his descisions? He's not just on the hot seat becuase we are losing. I personally believe he had a direct hand in 3 losses this season. From bone head 3rd down calls, abandoning the run game, failing to adjust and going away from what has worked in an effort to be unpredictable. I'm done with him. At this point, I would love to see an OC with a running mentality come in and impose his will.(Russ Grimm?) A guy like this would also prove beneficial with the projected revamp of our OL. Side note: Still in my pipe dream is Bill Cowher; he is the only availible coach I would fire Lovie for this season.
