Ryan Bates is obviously another stop gap acquisition. He plays C/OG. He wasn't good enough to start for Buffalo to so he isn't good enough for us. In comes Harbaugh: he says McCarthy is a player and his combine backed it up. He was bigger and had a stronger arm than anticipated. JJ also blew teams away with his interviews.
