  1. I saw it a little differently. Jalen Carter had a great game. His job yesterday was to keep gap discipline and he did it very well. Mahomes had nowhere to go all game. If you look back at it, Carter usually had Smith in a position where he could shed him. PFF will tell you Smith was the Chiefs best OL yesterday and he may have been. But as Carter was a beast.
  2. Like Stinger, I believe Poles and even Cunningham drank their own Kool-Aid in regards to how the OL was constructed. As far as being coached, they are agree on that upon hire. After that, it's on HC on down. Coaches can demand work in the weight room, but can not enforce it. The right coach will set a tone that inspires. It's obvious nobody inspired our OL. Thayer, Olin and Jurko all have spoken about it. It's also crazy to see guys like Ifedi, Patrick, Mustipher, Whitehair and others continue to play in the league after they were failures here.
  3. Good thing about the film is that they tag it with the play call and notes on how it was supposed to be executed. We saw, many times, where one of our interior guys would slide the wrong way or too far to correct. That can be corrected. When you saw Kramer getting dog walked or planted on his ass, that can possibly be corrected. That's too light in the ass and they need better conditioning. I think Flus wanted his OL light and mobile. Where the Lions have success, is from the fact that they spent draft capitol on the OL. That's where you get the bigger guys that can move like Jenkins and Wright.
  4. I haven't researched other positions, so I'll stick to OL. I'm for fixing depth at all cost. My preference would be to draft three IOL before the fifth round. I'm also remembering we picked up Ricky Stromberg, who was a third round pick 2 years ago. He was released for injury at the end of Washingtons camp. We also have that Canadian kid OG that played well in camp, before injury. I'm thinking these two will battle for depth. On the free agent side, of re-sign Shelton and Jenkins. The young guns will pushing them hard. I'd rather have pedigree rookies as backups, because they'll push harder to get the old guys out. That's were quality depth emerges. I've seen enough of Borom, Pryor and Martin to say buh-bye. Lastly, I'm drawn to something Tom Thayer said about the weight room. He's literally a Bears employee. He can be at practice and see the work habits of these players. His mere hinting of any type of conditioning tells volumes. Hopefully the new OL coach will identify this and kick ass. (It is in his nature to do so). Big changes are coming gents...
  5. My thinking is that Garrett has NFL clout to not be screwed by his franchise. The Browns would be dumb as hell to ruffle any of his feathers. Franchise's don't want to be known as a wasteland of hope.
  6. That's how New England did it. There is a crap ton of value in the second and third rounds for OG, TE and RB. (Very deep)

    Cooper Kupp

It's 29 mil cap hit next year. They're gonna have to cut him.
  8. You must have read my summary reply...💪
  9. Love this from Allen. "WE WANT TO BE AN ATTACKING, AGGRESSIVE STYLE OF DEFENSE. WE WANT TO TAKE THE FIGHT TO THE OFFENSE AND NOT LET THE OFFENSE DICTATE THE TEMPO TO US. WE'RE GOING TO BE AGGRESSIVE, WE'RE GOING TO CHALLENGE VERYTHING WE'RE GOING TO PLAY THE GAME THE RIGHT WAY, WE'RE GOING TO PLAY A TOUGH, PHYSICAL BRAND OF FOOTBALL, I THINK THE BRAND OF FOOTBALL YOU COME TO EXPECT AT THE CHICAGO BEARS."
  10. He's the guy that coached for Sean Payton. Payton's scheme was strength, inside out. They had a really good OL that we tried to poach a couple of times. This tells me we'll probably be making a huge investment in IOL. Love this hire.
  11. Now that I've put some thought into it, I'm out on Garrett for the following reasons. 1) We have so many holes to fill and he's gonna cost a few picks. 2) We are not one player away. We need 2 OL, 2 DL, S, RB, TE and speed WR. 3) We haven't seen the Ben Johnson effect on this team. That includes Dennis Allen. If it were next year and these things are known. All in!
  12. Courtney Cronin wrote that Ryan Poles is getting a contract extension to align with Ben Johnson.
  13. Garrett wants traded. Who would blame him? He's 29 coming off a 14 sack season. Do we trade the #10 and a future pick? And go!
  14. Regardless of anything, we have to upgrade from Mr Biles.
  15. I'm not so sure about this. Swift was sent packing by the Lions, then the Eagles let him go to us. I was never a fan. Still not.

We don't need 4 first round picks to fix the OL. Elite OL prospects go in the first round, while solid starters go in rounds 2-4. If you live there, you win there. We have the QB on a rookie deal for the next few years. It's time to invest in the trenches. Thayer mentioned weights and conditioning. What does he know that hasn't come out? He's definitely an insider. Maybe the boys haven't put in the work.
  17. I read a post from Shefter saying he was the leading candidate.

That's a tough route to win. The percentage of the field goes to the defender. He was killing on inside routes, which a slot tends to run.
  19. I'm waiting on pins and needles and hoping he nails it...

I'm watching Kyle Williams out of Washington State. I'm not seeing him show up on the rankings, but he had good production. His release of the line is excellent. May be a decent pick up for the slot.

Jordan Mialata is 6'8 as well. If the hips dip and swivel, it's all good.
