From watching a lot of Jenkins today, he is an OG only. Backup players were in his chest all game. That being said, he is a beast in the run game. His short arms are compounded by not having great lateral agility. At least we know. Side note: Braxton Jones will make the pro bowl in year 3. He has a lot of work to do to become an average LT. Eye test was really promising.
  2. Waddle said by tomorrow Roquan would be over a million in fines if Poles didn't do him a solid and put him on the PUP at the beginning of camp. There's 10% and he's not into real games.
  3. Well put. I heard the same thing about him trying to raise the level of ILB pay and gotta call complete BS. He wants paid, plain and simple. Roquan keeps coming up with emotional reasons to hold out. It was just like his rookie deal. This is not a stand to beat the man situation here, as linebackers have been getting paid for decades. Maybe he should start his form of TE U and see if anyone follows. It's his time to get paid, but dude know when you're outgunned.
  4. Poles would be walking on water upon this...?
  5. This. They told him shit's about to get real...
  6. Depends on what develops with Fields and the OL. Best case is almost always a trade down.
  7. As much as I hate it, it's hard to refute.
  8. It's complicated, because players tend to be far more emotional than agents. Poles even stated that this has been difficult. Poles also stated that they are intent on signing him and making him happy, but who knows what that is. With this being Roquan, who is clearly the teams best player, it is vital to future team negotiations to handle this one perfectly. No agent doesn't help.
  9. Some pretty damning comments came out. Not good. This is the first major crisis for Poles. It must be handled properly.
  10. We want the same thing. No way in hell it's gonna be top 20 though. I'm looking at bottom 25 and maybe get to top 20 by end of season. That is progress and improvement for me this year.
  11. No way in hell we are top 20.
  12. It's hard to speculate how good things will be with so much change. The OL plus Justin will be the key. The other skill positions are totally dependent. On defense, I'm still thinking we get gashed in the run game, which is going to hurt the TOP goal of our O.

All I can say is that he didn't disappear for ten practices for fat camp. Fat camp is on the field. So there is/were other things in play that led to all the speculation and secrecy. Of course we want to know the "whole" truth, but it may not happen. I'm simply happy that things looked to have been handled to his and the teams best interest.

Agreed. That's why I think it's a mental issue. They are probably tight lipped to protect his privacy while he gets the help he needs. In the meantime, he could be working his ass off indoors.

    Braxton Jones

It's the hardest thing for a big man to overcome. He'll have to retrain a lifetime of instinctual body behavior. It can be done. To do it he'll need to dedicate his life to it. Without it he can still be a good player. With it, the sky is the limit. Butt down, chest up is harder than it looks when shit hits the fan.

That's not a crap ton of weaknesses, it's a shit ton. Coming from a smaller program means they didn't have the resources to coach him up. That's a good sign that he's still very in the rough. My expectations are very low for this season, with a very high ceiling dependent on his work ethic. Learning to play low with leverage is hardest trench skill in football, so he will have to overcome his greatest weakness to succeed. He's showing a great attitude for starters and that a great start.

It's the direct distinction of the modern athlete. Feeling privileged vs entitled. As a coach, I see the humbling effect at every age group. In one season, my son went from wanting to be a D 1 athlete as a pitcher and WR. He has the size and talent for both, but does not want to work for it. Other kids are stars in HS and go to juco for a chance. Then there's my wife's nephew and fellow Bears fan and Chicago kid. 6'5 295 and wait for it, 15 years old!

They are unearthing comments from his college HC. Unfortunately, he had work ethic issues the coach had to address publicly. The article was mainly about Jenkins talent being elite, but why throw the jab? Due diligence is very easy in this digital age.

Maybe it's a situation where Jenkins said, "I should be starting. Trade me." So the team can come back and say, "the best offer was a sixth rounder. We like you more than anyone else, so get to work."

His talent says he should be starting this year. So, he only gets this camp for me. With his injury and surgery last year, he should have done all of the rehab and new in the best shape of his life. It was already mentioned that they asked him to cut weight and his response was that he would have to cut down on drinking. And don't forget that we traded up for him as well. Where there is smoke there is fire and when there is silence there is usually a secret.
  21. I think he's going to get traded, if healthy.
  22. I am all in on cutting Eddie Jackson to make yet another example. There are hungry dudes out there that want a fraction of the money he's making. His teammates are probably, quietly, sick of his BS play anyway.
  23. Exactly my sentiment. If we win six games and see a marked improvement, I will hard to contain in the off-season talking about what could be. Just not yet.
