  1. I can talk reasonably about it and unequivocally state that it will not be good. The growing pains of a new OL gelling into a new system will take all season. All signs are pointing to next season. I'm good with that as long as Fields and the OL progress.

    Trade Quinn?

Cap space is not an issue. See Von Miller trade from last year. That's why Denver got a 2 and 3...

    Trade Quinn?

I would not be surprised at all if a handshake deal, or two, is already in place with a team that's close. We may have to wait till the deadline to see it realized, due to it being contingent on the other team.
  4. In looking at our OL, Whitehair is the only returning opening day starter from last season. I've seen a lot of commentary on Tevin Jenkins. Jenkins lost most of the season with his injury so he is almost still a rookie. Seeing him moved around so much in OTA's is a bad sign. He needs the work. At this point, I see him as the RG. If Mustipher beats him out, call it a bust.

    Trade Quinn?

This is just conjecture, but listening to former Bears, Waddle and Jurko, they say he's happy with the Bears but just wants a chance to be with a contender. And it's only because, he and everyone else, knows they are in rebuild mode.
  6. The modern day purists to that analogy are the Patriots, Packers, Colts and Steelers. Although none have won the Superbowl lately, they are highly regarded as solid franchises and usually competitive. I hope Poles is great at talent eval, because I love his plan. As a Bears lifer, I saw 1982 as the beginning of something great and see the same thing now. I really want to be right about this, not only for all Bears fans, but to selfishly validate that my years as a fan and player gave me some wisdom and insight into team building. In conclusion, I found it hilarious that you will never let Jamarcus Webb off the hate wagon, as mine is Charles Martin...?
  7. Big offer is the only thing they care about.
  8. Definitely need another season to build the base. The third off season should put us over the top with talent. At that point, we hope Fields has developed into a franchise QB and can utilize it. Idiot Pace came in with an impatient plan by thinking his year three was going to be in Trubisky's second year. He forgot the base.
  9. If he ends up being our starting LT, that would be a major boost to Poles legacy.
  10. I don't remember who said it on the radio this morning, but he essentially said there actually is something to this. He mentioned the red flags on the medical history and athletic limitations. Jenkins may end up the right guard we've been looking for.
  11. Jenkins has great traits to be an all pro guard.
  12. Waddle and Jurko were all over it this afternoon. It was much ado about nothing. An NFL rep happened to be there and a couple of guys were going a little harder than they should have. They said if anything noteworthy occurred that fines would have been levied. Eberflus has already adjusted the expectation and educated the players.
  13. Still the same gaps, no matter what they attempt to consume. We are not discussing linebacker responsibilities. This conversation got stuck on Quinn, but the other three DL are less proven than he is...
  14. In every 4-3 defense, the entire defensive line has the same gap and edge containment responsibilities in the run game. (Only stunting and blitzing change that)
  15. Unfortunately, he's played in a 4-3 before and is + against the pass and - - against the run.
  16. I'm hoping for a defensive lineman to step up. My biggest concern is that we are going to get gashed in the run game. Whether it be lack of experience or pure talent, Quinn has never been a good run player, Tonga and Gipson are unproven and Edwards is a retread. The start of this season is going to be rough, due to both lines needing to gel and neither is highly pedigreed.
  17. This is what I think as well. There are free agents that can absolutely start for us, but Poles is letting our guys work before grabbing them.

    Will Fuller

I'll bite for the vet minimum. He simply has world class and "football" speed. Maybe our new conditioning people can fix him.
  19. I'm 100% convinced they are locked in to finding a suitable LT. This guy may not start due to us wanting to develop a younger guy, but it is imperative to have a known commodity. I don't think Jason Peters has retired yet.
  20. This would be ok, especially if we "poison pill" some RFA players. I don't want to play star money to anyone who is not ascending. We hopefully have enough of our own players to lock in to extensions to eat up some cap. (Roquan, Jaylon, Mooney, Kmet, Gipson, money and a few surprise players)
  21. Not necessarily. As you mentioned, we have guys we can extend. My guess is if they sign someone, it will be a poison pill deal on an up and coming player.
  22. I don't actually think we'll be after free agents next year. Poles will probably want all the quality picks he can get. Trading Monty will get us more than comp, so go for it if it's worth it.
  23. Totally agree. The whole Insta ID and post looks totally catfishy.
