  1. Too much smoke not to be a little solder. Multiple outlets say yes, Trace says no. What else can he do? He has a huge client base that includes Matt Nagy and Ryan Day. Also, with the firing rumor before Christmas and the Bezos visit to Halas Hall. It's going down somehow...
  2. Oh shoot, I meant Elliott not Prescott...?
  3. I live in Indy and this was a hot button topic for weeks. What made it worse, is that Colts fans hate the Patriots with a passion.
  4. Totally agree on the day one part.
  5. I wonder how it would look if they cut Cooper and Prescott? Both of them look very replaceable.
  6. If a 2nd rounder can be obtained, I'd do it. You may not net a better RB room immediately, but you end up better because you've raised the talent at a greater rate than you've lost. Even if it's a 3rd and 5th, I'm in.
  7. We really need 3 starters out of this draft at WR, S, CB. Also, I'd like to see a FA upgrade at those three before the draft. This is going to be a busy off season.
  8. I remember this well. The contract was fully agreed upon by all parties. McDaniels even had the Colts hire assistant coaches for him, as he was on his way on to sign the contract after wrapping things up in NE. He wasn't just flirting with the Colts, he was balls deep. I don't trust him as far I can spit. Luckily, the Colts landed Frank Reich, who seems like a terrific hire.
  9. There are five positions that you have to pay a major price for in free agency. QB, LT, WR, edge and CB. We are good on QB, LT and edge, so CB and WR must be drafted.(I'm only including LT as good because I know that won't be invested draft capital this year) with CB and WR being so weak, I consider that a lock. Out of the standard 5 positions, S and OC are weakest and would love for them to be drafted.
  10. This is what Belichick has done his entire career on both sides of the ball. Draft a player that's teachable is at the center of it all.
  11. Gotta say Dalton, Kmet, Burns, Mustipher and Crawford are bloody terrible. Embarrassing...
  12. We are in lockstep on this matter. First two picks should be C and WR, in no certain order. Until Fields is rolling, give him every weapon possible. It all starts up front.
  13. I'm almost certain it's true. The reporter is one of the most respected in Chicago and has a Pulitzer under his belt. Waddle, Silvey, Jurko and Defalco on ESPN 1000 all believe it and vouch for the guy. I don't think he needed a rumor piece like other guys might.
  14. Here's what pisses me off. The brass got caught with their pants down with the leak to the reporter. Then, they let the rumor run rampant by not squashing it immediately. Then, they make a statement to the team saying the rumor is inaccurate, thus muddying the water even more. This all just so they can save face by firing Nagy on their terms. Our ownership is clearly hurting their own team by delaying the inevitable. If they simply would have admitted their mistake, they would be more respected by the fan base and the team would be better off with more time to prepare for a new coach. We are simply the commoners that they think they are fooling...?
  15. Yeah, Jones went to as solid of a place that there is. Established coaching staff, great OL, great defense and a very nice selection of skill players. Pats were ravaged last year with covid19 opt outs and first year without Brady. Sucks, but our OL got worse, as well as our receiving corps. Not to mention defense banged up along with a terrible secondary. 2022 is going to be up and down. 2023 will have to be his year...
  16. The eye test is very tricky when you are wishing with all of your being that a player succeeds. That is where we are with every new QB we get. We take the wow plays and see that as glimpse into a successful future. It's kinda like golf. You hit a good shot, now that becomes the goal and expectation. What I see from Justin is mixed. He shows promise with the deep ball and improvisational plays. He is very weak on processing the speed of the game, as he often is late to deliver.(this was Mitch's major flaw as well) He is also weak on moving around in the pocket.(Mitch also) He also hasn't shown the ability to throw players open.(Mitch again) I've never read a critique on his release, but it could be a lot quicker. His delivery is long and smooth which helps with the deep ball accuracy. I'm very hopeful that Justin will grow and succeed, as I did Mitch. Both have above average arm strength and highly mobile. One is accurate short, while the other long. I think Justin is a little more than Mitch, so my expectation is a little more.
  17. You are right, this is an odd situation. The vibe I'm getting from the whole deal is that the family just got embarrassed by another grand screwup that they can't keep info in house. Now, they scramble to save face by denial. I wouldn't be surprised if it buys Nagy another week or two just so they can say we told you so. This is all just dysfunctional...
  18. I've been hearing a lot about them giving Pace a promotion and him hiring the next GM. We may have to accept the fact that the family loves him and have some hope that he and the new GM are addition by subtraction with Teddy out of the football side. One more layer between the family and the field is definitely a positive.
  19. This is murky. Nagy also stated that they have not spoken since they're last scheduled meeting, which was over a week ago. Pace's silence is deafening...
  20. For those that think the glass is half full. We need 2 WR, OC, ILB, DE, CB and 2 S. That's 8 poditions that need upgraded badly. Doing the math, we have 28 players under contract for next year and some of those should be cut. So that's a minimum of 33 players needed to make a better roster. And as of now, Ryan Pace is still the GM. With our limited amount draft picks and cap space, how do we get better next year? Let er rip, because I can't wrap my head around it.
  21. Or asking Bruce Arians to do a mock press conference...
  22. A great reason to fire Nagy, in season, is that we can interview whoever we want during week 17 and 18. It would be advisable to take advantage of the extra time for coaches on playoff teams. It's rumored that Nagy lost part of the locker room last year and as of now he has fully lost it.
