We saw some good things Monday night with our offense dominating in yards, points and TOP. When Ryan Poles told the coaching staff that it was time to access what we do best, I believe the time was right. While the outcome is something we've been looking for, it's not the model for our future success. Current success dictates that we use Justin as a weapon on the ground. While running QB's might win an MVP, none have won the Super Bowl. While Justin can have success being Lamar or Cam, his ultimate success would be Steve Young or Josh Allen. I simply don't think it's sustainable. Also, as much as I love a good run game with a back like Henry, they ain't going anywhere either. I'm glad we got a glimpse. Better yet, glad Poles and company have seen enough to know what Justin needs for development. Part II of the plan is the most important. 125 mil and the future of the franchise depends upon it.

Yo Jason, I know you're a big Bama guy. What's up with Leatherwood? You and I were kinda high on him and deliberating whether he'd be a 1st or 2nd. Got any scoops?

Quinn to the Eagles for a 4th. Suck on it Stinger...??
-
Yeah, Patrick was supposed to be the guy, but bad luck got on the way. Mustipher seems lost, as he completely blows at switching off and anchoring. This has led to many inside pressures. Center is priority one. RT would be next.

Looking back, it's blatant. I never saw so many defacto nominations for Bearstalk GM in any other administration. The liberal use of trading draft picks was insane. And paying that giraffe neck QB 15 mil was ?.

That is a scenario too. I titled this thread "Poles is the Man", but indeed Polian is the man as well. I truly believe the Polian hiring is the key to ALL of this. He educated the top to let football people be football people.

That was his fatal flaw. Why did he trade up so many times? It's because he knew something about the player that nobody else did. What an arrogant jackass!

I looked others. They all have us rising. PFT has us at 18

Chicago Bears Mobile: Poles talks Bears-Patriots on pregame radio show https://www.chicagobears.com/news/poles-talks-bears-patriots-on-pregame-radio-show-justin-fields-trade-deadline Read the article first, then replay the game in your mind. I couldn't love this impromptu interview anymore. It's almost like he's telling you what's about to happen three hours before the game. This leadership crew gets it!

After what McCaffrey went for, who knows what the market will bring. I think Lynch lost his damn mind. There are a lot of factors to consider on Quinn's performance. (just as McCaffrey is having a down year) He's definitely not over the hill. I don't think GM's are afraid to get him if they feel he takes them over the top.

See Von Miller from last year. This year's stats aside, the entire NFL knows he's not washed up and would thrive elsewhere. I would expect a 5th at minimum, better if we help them financially.

I agree as well. Unless we end up with sexy Rexy and Alex Haynes...?

I've always thought KC would be a good fit. There are also up and comers like Philly and the Giants that have extra picks.

With a roster that is clearly "pressing" to help Fields, it is a good thing, to impress upon all, to stick to the training and don't think to be the hero. (Including Fields)
-
I'd suggest he put protection packages, how many dropback steps the QB takes and how many pass rushers into his algorithm. It would be very complicated. But, if you are going to do the work, do it well.

There's nothing negative about the Jets winning in Lambeau.

Not true. Every fan base has angst over their young QB's. Fields is getting national attention for two reasons; the bears numbers are epically low and they know Fields is capable of way more than he's shown.
-
Same. These guys are young and pressing to make plays. They don't have a big veteran presence to calm the huddle. I'm good with three growing pains. The players that are keepers will band together and strengthen each other. I trust this leadership group to recognize who they are.

My true belief is that they are giving him next year. The only time you need to make the big decision is when you have to pay him. It makes no sense moving on so quickly when you know he can be Lamar Jackson with a good OL. My belief is that they are purposefully determining what his niche is going to be, in order to build accordingly.

Poles, Flus and Fields will all be back next year. Keep building the blue chippers next year. If Fields is not the guy after 2023, then the table will be set for the new guy. We needed this year of pain last year, but George wasn't ready for some reason. Remember, this was foreseen by many people and not a result of the current regime.

Now that we all know, let's fix it. The great rebuild is what we thought it would be. Painful. While I'm good with the pain, I'm not good with how it's being dispensed. I get the feeling that Poles and Eberflus are using this season to evaluate Fields instead of develop him. That being said, they are probably trying to see what he's good and bad at, so they can put the appropriate talent around him to succeed. What I want them to do is gameplan around what he does best for him to succeed. It's a subtle difference that can have a happy medium. This off season is going to be a monster and Poles has to be licking his chops. Don't doubt for a second that Fields is going to be anything but our QB ends next year will be about him thriving. My full expectation is a complete upgrade of our skill positions and OL. Adam has already stated that the WR FA class is weak, so we'll have to rely on finding a couple studs through the draft or trade. I'm also looking for a true center, because the two on our depth chart will be lucky to have a job. Then, top it off with another running back. The rest of the OL will be better due to time and experience, which builds the continuity they need. On defense, it starts up front. A pass rushing 3T would be huge, along with a space eater. We could also stand to improve the LB corps. There is a lot of work to do. But it can get done. I personally can't wait to start making mock drafts after the season. As for now, if we can eliminate the mistakes, there is a chance for some wins.
