This year is a great opportunity in the draft. Every time you get a new coach or GM you have the opportunity to steal intell from other teams. So far, we have ours, KC's and Indy's. That's a very good start. With all this great info, we lack picks, so let's get some. I'll start by trading Quinn. He just had his best season, so his value will never be higher. Plus, he had only one year left on his contract which makes it even sweeter. We should be able to get what Denver got for Von Miller, at a minimum. Next up is Foles. Can we get a fifth rounder? Next, cut or trade both Eddies. Lastly, it's time for Mack to go. If his foot is finally healthy, he is still a stud. My hope would be to get a second and third for him. With those moves, we're looking at 4-6 more picks and a crap ton of free agent money to upgrade the offense. I would let the defense suffer a little this year with a youth movement allowing energy to do what he does best while the offense gets solid.

This was talked about on the Carmen and Jurko show today. He has also seen Carson went up close and we all know his flaws. Hopefully, measures are planned to guide Fields to using his athleticism the right way.

I think everyone will like what we see defensively out of his team. The Colts play defense like a bunch of barbarians. Always fast and swarming to the ball. They also get a lot of turnovers. Don't worry about the 4-3/3-4 thing. He plays nickel 65% of the time. One thing I'm optimistic about this duo is that they fit my personality better. As a former OL, I look at Poles like a brother in arms. It brings a little confidence that he will fix what I've complained about for years. As far as Eberflus is concerned, I simply like that Fields won't have multiple thought processes and voices in his ear. I really think that will be key to his development. Another way Eberflus can help Justin is by working with the OC to let him know how he would attack Fields. The big thing that is on everyone's mind now, is who the OC will be.

According to everything I've heard about Arians, is that he was born ready.(just made different) When he enters a situation, he's the dude that doesn't give a flying f'k what the owner thinks. That's a hard dude to hire.
-
Bruce Arians took forever to get a gig because of that. It took Chuck Pagano getting cancer for him to get recognition.
-
Gotta give Lamar credit on that one. Bad thing is, I think his dominance is over. He's already losing some of his elite ability and becoming dinged up. Let's see if he makes the next transition.
-
That's what I wanted last season. The pain would be over and the rebuild would already be on. Hindsight being 20/20, there are very little QB's to choose from this year, so it's good we got Justin last year.

Payton said he'd never coach the Bears the way they are organized. I think it was Dan Graziano that said it on Carmen and Jurko's show.

I live just outside of Indy and have seen a lot of Polian. He's brilliant. The fact that he's been on the payroll since late October let me know that he has a lot of control. Otherwise, he would have cut bait and left those clowns on the boat.
-
Yes and yes. I never thought Polian would do that, as he is the consummate professional. We also know now that Poles hired based on the contingency that he would hire HIS own coach. In Polian I trust!

Caldwell is solid but not spectacular. He got screwed in Indy when Manning hurt his neck. Then got screwed in Detroit after taking them to the playoffs. If he has a solid coaching staff in tow, he should be ok. He'll be a Dungy/Lovie type of coach. I still want Daboll. Looks unlikely though.
-
Ryan Poles is the guy.
-
I like that. Now, if we can get Daboll for OC/asst HC, then it turns to love. We need a proven play caller/winner at OC.
-
I don't mind Eberflus as a HC, but the combo worries me. Caldwell doesn't have much experience calling plays, so he would pair better with a Daboll as HC. Now if you want Eberflus at HC and Daboll at OC/asst HC, I'm in.

This topic is wearing me out. This is greatest influence on the organization since Jim Finks and we want to shit on it. Typical Bears fans. Negativity much?
-
We have one chance to get the next three years right and that's a minimum. Hiring the GM first is the right thing to do. Hopefully that is getting really close and that GM loves Daboll. I would love to see Jim Caldwell as OC.

At the end of the day, he works for George. Einstein also once worked for George, now look at his hair. "God bestows upon one man genius without patience and upon another man patience without genius. The relative achievements of the two are often surprising." - Walter C Klein In other words, "settle down Francis".
-
I want Daboll coaching from the pain of that game yesterday. He adapted, made adjustments and kept grinding. Josh Allen is a complete stud and if Justin Fields wants to ever be at that level, Daboll can truthfully tell him what he needs to do to become that level.
-
What? Exposed for 438 yards, zero turnovers, 36 points and the single greatest playoff game, ever. They adjusted enough to get Gabriel Davis 4 touchdowns. I drafted him on my fantasy team and had to cut him because he did nothing all season. Also drafted Devin Singletary and he did nothing until the last couple weeks of the season and the playoffs. The Bills defense got exposed, but the offense in no way was exposed.

I'm loving this. They are projected at 44 mil over the cap. Rodgers hit alone is 46 mil. Adams is going to get 24-27 mil/yr somewhere. Something's gotta give...??

The Same O'le Same O'le - What A Complete Joke

I getting ready to nightlight the same thing before I discovered I hadn't read the whole thread yet. If I were a fly on the wall, I would love to hear potential GM's dance around how bad Ryan Pace was. How do you politely tell an owner how they couldn't been so much better if Pace didn't trade away 2 drafts worth of players or that he should've ended Nagy's reign of terror on the offense two years ago. Or a HC candidate that tells you how easy it was to beat the offense and that they knew it years before you did. Do George and Ted get pissed or do they self reflect? I would really love for mother McCaskey to hear it all secretly from another room. Or does Polian simply give them a knowing wink as a sign to lay off the carnage?
-
I know this is unorthodox, but if we hire a guy like Daboll, is there any precident to have another coach run the sideline while the HC focuses on play calling? Also, how much would we have to pay Ryan Day to be an OC? Just spit balling out of boredom.

I'm liking Rick Smith

Thank you. I read that he doesn't have an interview personality. I wonder how that would affect attracting free agents and UDFA's.
