Well it appears Westbrook has publicly stated that he would like to come to Chicago and be Forte's backup. Thoughts on that? http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=4949076

So it looks like the Jets are going to ask Thomas Jones to take a pay cut. If he refuses and is cut would it be worth giving him an offer to be our #2?
-
I for one do not believe he would sign with the Bears. He has said he wants to be an OLB in a 3-4 so the Bears would need to pony up the dollar bills to get him me thinks.
-
It was reported on ESPN, don't remember where, that he is most likely not to be tagged because his tagged salary for next season would be $20mil

I tend to keep mine in the fridge. Ironically, it also doubles as my celebratory medicine.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,7047151.story Bears running back Matt Forte had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee within the last two weeks, according to multiple sources. The clean-up procedure followed a post-season MRI. Forte sprained the medial collateral ligament in his knee during the Bears' 25-19 victory at Seattle in Week 3, but it is unclear if the surgery stems from that specific injury. Although Forte ran better toward the end of the season, he averaged just 3.6 yards per carry, down from his 3.9-yard average as a rookie. He finished with 929 rushing yards on 258 carries as the Bears ranked 29th in the league. Forte ran for 1,238 yards on 316 carries as a rookie the year before. As a receiver, he had 57 catches for 471 yards in 2009 against 63 for 477 in his first season. Forte also suffered a partially torn hamstring during offseason workouts before the '09 season. With Forte recovering from surgery, the Bears have at least three running backs on the mend. Garrett Wolfe had shoulder surgery almost two weeks ago while Kevin Jones continues his extensive rehab from torn ligaments in his left ankle. Jones missed the entire regular season. Also, punter Brad Maynard had his right hip scoped, a source said. His recovery time is unclear. Maynard was listed as questionable with a groin injury before the last home game against the Vikings. He handled the punt duties that night despite the Bears' decision to sign Richmond McGee as insurance. The first day teams can start the offseason workout program is March 15.

I think the big thing to consider is Lovie's head is now firmly on the chopping block. I couldn't imagine him messing with anything that is successful just because he wants to see his scheme used.
-
My question would be do those stats take into consideration how far the QB throws the ball or are they stats on how long the total pass play goes for. Because I do believe I've seen Marshall break a few intermediate routes into long gains. Not to mentions the tip ball to Stokely in the first game. Would that be a 30+ yard pass for a shorter completion that goes or a long play.

Starting to think we start over, Angelo on down

I am officially on board with rebuilding, coaching staff included. I've probably given Lovie the benefit of the doubt longer than most people. But he has shown not be to able to adapt to changes in the league. If everyone knows how to beat you, you've got to change what you are doing. -
I'd like to see if they tracked how many times a QB has gotten away from pressure as well. cutler's ability to avoid the dlinemen has got to be a reason why he hasn't been sacked that often

Its too bad they only came for dinner...

All I have to say is I've been trying to get to a bears game for years now... and thats the one i finally got to. That was a wonderful drive to and from.

Lovie Lies: We need to change our offensive scheme
xvflutop replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Bearstalk
From the ESPN NFC North blog... Chicago Bears: Linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa had an MRI on his right knee Monday, coach Lovie Smith told local reporters. The Bears are bracing for the worst on his injury. Smith said he hoped to get linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer (ribs) back on the practice field Wednesday. Meanwhile, Smith wouldn’t rule out the possibility of benching left guard Frank Omiyale and inserting Josh Beekman as the starter at left guard. -
I saw last night that Peter King picked the bears to win
-
I believe they all picked the steelers as well in week 2

You would think so but... 1. I always get stuck sitting next to the most obnoxious person ever. 2. The beer guy never comes through my section 3. My view is partially blocked by a pillar Next time I think i'll just shell out a little more for a better seat

Section 1 seat 1 of row 1... of my couch

The last report I actually saw listed him as day to day, but i don't think anyone expects him back for a couple more weeks

I read this in an article at ESPN on Jake Delhomme and thought it was rather amusing: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...nflpicks/090918

Basket is said be signing with Indy

I just saw a report that Brooks said he is very much still in talks with the bears. He said they just want to see how the D holds up this weekend and they said they will go from there.

Starting strong-side linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa went down in the first quarter Sunday with a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is day-to-day, according to an NFL source. There is a chance Tinoisamoa could play against the Steelers, but his status remains unclear. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,7971480.story

The thing with Mannely is that he saw the 12th man and decided to snap to wolf because had they thrown the flag and wolf breaks a tackle then we decline it and keep the ball. i have no problems with that idea. but mannelly needs to know when the guy is going to get off the field
-
I heard 4-6 weeks for Pisa. don't know who reported it. just passed along from a friend
