  1. Agreed. Jay could easily have broken 4K last year, but he was injured. But that's the only year, and even then all anyone talked about was Good Jay vs Bad Jay.
  2. I sure hope so, but as a Bear fan I'm an eternal pessimist. For nearly three decades I've disagreed with more Bears moves than I have agreed with, and it appears that I, along with most Bears fans, have been right in criticizing the moves considering the lack of success. Maybe this new front office finally changed that perspective.
  3. As a guy who wants talent more than character, and has openly called for questionable players on the Bears - many who have succeeded elsewhere - I agree with your sentiment. Suh is a dirty bitch, and probably one of only a few players in the NFL that deserve a massive, season-ending injury.
  4. The quote is not a shocker to me. It's true. But pretty much every year with the Bears there has been a huge Achilles heel. Either an atrocious OL, horrible scheme, non-existent defense, etc. While in Chicago, Cutler had yet to see a complete effort to maximize his potential.
  5. Good. Dude has sucked for years. I wonder how much Lovie will sign him for? LOL
  6. Meh. Never wanted him. Too much scratch for a team with several other holes to fill.

    My #1 FA Target

PRE-cisely. Gives AJ more room underneath.
  8. Meh. The Bears defense, much like its offense, needs speed. They need guys who can run down offensive players and destroy them. They don't need fat LBs who don't cover well and who rarely wrap up. Now, that wouldn't be that bad if he still delivered bombs like he used to, but he doesn't. Give me a team full of young pups who are flying around creating chaos everywhere...especially if it's in a 3-4.

    My #1 FA Target

Since you appear to be asking me, I'll answer. The Bears need speed. I think Smith is faster. On top of that, I'm not as sold on Cobb as I am on Smith. Cobb produced with Green Bay, where, let's be honest, just about any decent WR can put up stats. They have an incredible QB, a consistent system, and complimentary receivers that draw attention. Meanwhile, Torrey Smith had a pretty good QB, but nowhere near Rodgers. And I can't even think of other Baltimore WRs, so you know Smith was getting the #1 DB every time. Last, but most important, is money. Cobb will cost a ton. Smith will not.
  10. Well, if that dude is the inside knowledge guy, he is also saying Cutler and Forte are potentially going away. Should be interesting.
  11. Torrey Smith. Great speed, perfect compliment to AJ. Sign him and the Marshall trade is forgotten fairly quickly.
  12. Good quote in relation to this trade and locker room issues: "Bears kept key veterans like Kreutz and Urlacher 2 shutup divas, cheaper than firing GM, 2HC's, 4 OC's and Cutler's contract"
  13. Think he will drive his Lambo out of Chicago?
  14. Agreed about the financials, but what is peace of mind worth? What is team harmony worth? That's what they are probably thinking of the most. I think it's a risk/reward sort of thing. Keep Him another year and risk that he will behave and/or stay healthy?
  15. My thoughts: you sell before value is lessened. You might not catch the peak, but it's better than waiting for that falling knife. 4th and 5th...use one of those on a promising WR and then maybe find a FA placeholder and it's not bad.
  16. Just read somewhere that it was a 4th and 5th rounder. That's not great, but it's something at least. Does that change the draft? Do we need to use a pick for a WR? Or is the Alshon and Wilson combo enough?
  17. Yeah, I feel the same way. So because Cutler didn't work the system that Trestman had that makes him someone you can't win with? I don't buy it. A malcontent? Sure. But you can win with Cutler. You just can't win with an unhappy Cutler who decides to ignore your system and do his own thing. Give Cutler a system he likes, support him with a strong OL, move him around and outside of the pocket, then I bet Cutler suddenly becomes a happy camper you can use to his maximum.

    Brian Hartline?

Agreed. I think the Bears should probably make the move to get something for BMarsh while they can. Hartline isn't BMarsh, but it just pushes Alshon more into the limelight as the #1. Then pick up a speedy guy or a Edelman type and the WRs are set.
  19. Id like to drop back and pick Landon Collins, then get one of those bottom four names on your list with the second round pick.
  20. No. No. No. That would be a colossal mistake because of Mariotta's doubts, the fact that his name is too close to Mariotti, and, most importantly, there are other, much more important, much more glaring holes to fill.

    Arthur Brown

So you'd trade the backbone of the offense, a good character guy, a pro-bowler, a potential HOFer who produced just last year, and every year in every offense he has seen with the Bears, for a guy who couldn't crack the starting lineup?! Unkess it is all about money, that makes almost no sense at all to me. The Bears have LBs on the squad who have proven more on the field than that guy.
  22. What if the coaches said, as others here have, that there is a decent amount of young talent on the team? That they just need good coaching? Suppose they think Paea will be stout enough for the NT spot, and the combo of Young, Sutton, Ferguson, Allen, etc. is enough for the DL? Suppose they think SMC is great at his natural position, and Bostic/Greene are perfect for the other two holes in the 3-4, with Briggs filling the last spot? They realize the need at FS, but like the scondary otherwise...and dislike small school safeties. I present you with the anti-Lovie draft, where they eschew the weakness and supplement the strength. 1. Trade back and get Landon Collins, FS, Alabama 2. Dorial Beckham-Green, WR, OK 2. Hroniss Grassu, OC, Oregon 3. Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon (yeah, I did it) 4-7: BPA Would you be happy/pissed?

    Shelton at Combine

Absolutely do not want Shelton. He couldn't even strip the ball from the ball boy.
  24. The Bears trade Cutler, Forte, and Marshall for a 1, 2, and 3. They trade back for a 1 and 2. 1st-mid round and late round 2nd-Bears original, mid round, late round 3rd-Bears original, early round What's your mock? 1. Vic Beasley, OLB, Clemson -Kill the QB 1. Hau'oli Kakaha, OLB, Washington -Kill the QB 2. Dorial Beckham-Green, WR, OKlahoma - Marshall replacement 2. TJ Yeldon, RB, Alabama - Challenges for the starting role, insurance, could explode as a rookie 2. Jordan Phillips, NT, Oklahoma - Monster in the middle 3. Hronis Grassu, C, Oregon - Bam! Starts by the end of the year. 3. Derron Smith, FS, Fresno St - I would be shocked if he didn't start immediately 4. Jake Ryan, ILB, Michigan - Feels like too many LBs, but who on the roster is worth a damn? Dude is a gamer. 5. Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor - I know. I know. Rolling the dice. 6. Trenton Brown, ROT, Florida - Huge dude. Challenges Mills at the least. 7. Deshazor Everett, CB, TX A&M - I like him, makes big plays. Got my approximate positioning from drafttek. Go for it!
