  1. Backup QB - Low Backup RB - Medium-to-low, it's pure insurance because Forte looks healthy and had a career year last year. Backup TE - Very low. I don't know why anyone thinks otherwise. Bennett is in there for 99% of the plays, and Rosario is a competent backup. Rotational LB - Medium-to-low. We can't predict injuries, and there is potential in this group with SMC moving back, Bostic/Greene not being rookies, DJ not being injured, Briggs being Briggs Backup CB - Medium, only because it's likely Peanut won't be with the team next year. Starting FS - Extremely high. Starting SS - High. I don't have faith in any of'em. Backup DE - Extremely low. FA addressed this issue multiple times. Rotational DT - High. Ratliff and Paea are question marks, and a highly drafted prospect could start. First four rounds should be FS, SS, DT, CB, in no specific order.
  2. Dislike. DT and S are #1 and #2, or #2 and #1, depending on point of view. So they get targeted in the 3rd and 6th rounds? The only saving grace for this draft is grabbing Mosley at 51, which would be the biggest steal in the draft. Of course, that's a near impossibility.
  3. Yes, S is weak this year. I've heard interviews with multiple people who have been in front offices saying that the S class was very thin this year, and if you liked one you might have to move up to get him.
  4. That wouldn't be bad in such a depressing situation. Good recovery.
  5. Slim. But the odds we make a better selection aren't as slim.
  6. I agree with that too, for the most part. One caveat, however, is if the Bears absolutely feel Jernigan, Hageman, or some other DT is every bit as good, or better than Donald, then throw that into the mix as well. FS - HHCD, Pryor DT - Donald, Jernigan, Hageman
  7. I've tried to do a few and I don't see the trade function? Anyone want to steer me in the right direction?
  8. I'll be mad at the Bears if they take a LB in the first round, or if they take a TE at all. I'll be mad, not necessarily at the team, if the Bears don't address FS and DT in the first three picks. If they go FS in the 1st and no DT value is there in the 2nd, I'll understand, but I'll be mad.
  9. Dude, I was just following the rules set forth at the beginning of the thread as best as I could. With the 77th pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the Niners select Marcus Roberson, CB, Florida. He's got upside, and it's an obvious position of need. Dallas (Stinger) is on the clock.
  10. By the way, you could almost go with an all Auburn draft: 1 - Greg Robinson, OT 2 - Dee Ford, DE 3 - Tre Mason, RB 4 - Chris Davis, DB 5 - Jay Prosch, FB 6 - Steven Clark, P (big reach) 6 - Nobody close
  11. Sweet. Hopefully these guys drop. I'd love to see a draft where we start with HHCD, get Jernigan in the second, and then follow it up with Christian Jones and Anthony Johnson.

    Dry Heat Forecast

I don't think I'd like this draft very much. I'm on record as not being a fan of LB in the first, and I stand by it. In just about any draft. But this year, with so much prime DT and FS talent there, it'd be a waste. Not a fan of Will Sutton or Ka'deem Carey either. And to top it all off, I still disagree with the notion that the Bears need TE depth. They do not. They have a starter and a capable backup. I do like Brooks in the 2nd and the flyer on Logan Thomas though.
  13. The time for the NY Giants is past. BPA at a position of need is Tre Mason RB, Auburn. Let's make the selection and move on. 74 - Tre Mason, RB, Auburn 75 - Austin Seferian Jenkins, TE, UW Detroit (scs787) is on the clock.

    SCS Final Mock.

I'd be really happy with that draft, mostly because of 1-4.
  15. Even more reason to go Safety in the first. Jernigan might be there in the second.
  16. Not my favorite, but I'd be pretty damn happy with it.

    Day 2 Safety

For the most part, but I don't like three CB, even if one happens to have potential flexibility.8

    Day 2 Safety

Think he'll be available in the 2nd?

    ILBs

Touche. Although, the other post doesn't factor in intelligence or instinct. I guess when it comes down to it, I'd rather have a Borland-type, with his physical limitations, than a Daniel Manning-type, with his mental limitations. Instinct can often overcome athletic limitations, but sooner or later mental limitations hurt more (IMO).
  20. I was listening to a radio show this morning where they talked about the concept of going for the Best Athlete Available instead of necessarily the BPA. They were speaking about the "you can't teach height/weight/speed/etc." stuff, and said that instincts could be taught through repetition. What can't be taught, however, is a 4.4 forty when a guy has maxed out at 4.65 or something like that. You might be able to shave some time here and there, but ultimately that's his speed. A draft that followed the BAA theory kind of goes with what Emery talked about last year in regards to Long. 1. Aaron Donald, DT, Pitt - He fits the concept. A DT faster than some of the combine WRs? Yeah, I'll bite. 2. Terrence Brooks, FS, FSU - 4.37 forty, 38" vertical, 10' broad jump. He's not the strongest, but he's a freak athlete. 3. Dri Archer, RB, Kent State - This guy has the potential to be CJ2K before CJ2K got lazy. He's a breakaway homerun possibility on every play. 4. Martavis Bryant, WR, Clemson - Dude is 6'4", has a 40" vertical, and ran faster than the supposedly super fast Sammy Watkins. 5. Prince Shembo, LB, ND - Nearly 40" vertical, good all around everything else. 6. Logan Thomas, QB, VaTech - What more do you want? The dude was the leader in every.single.combine.category for QBs. Fast, massive, long arms, huge hands, he looks like Kapernick. 6. A.C. Leonard, TE, TSU - I'm sorry, but a 4.5 forty at 250lbs is ridiculous. He's probably the best pure athlete (according to combine-type measurables) at TE this year. Full disclosure: I considered Hageman in the 2nd. What's your "all freak athlete" draft?

    ILBs

Really?! You'd take Lamin Barrow over Skov, Jones, or Borland? No way. Skov is a machine, 6'3", 245, a little slow at 5.09, but has great anticipation and very good strength (28 reps). Jones is 6'3", 240, an athletic freak, damn fast for his size (4.68), and has great upside. Chris Borland is a stockier LB at 6' and 248, but he's faster than Skov and plugs virtually every hole. But you'd take Lamin Barrow? Is it just the 40 time? Barrow reminds me of Daniel Manning, a guy with all the tools except the brain to use them. Fast and strong, but in the wrong location and never maximizing full potential. Gimme the Skov and Borland types for ILB all day over the Barrow's of the world.

    Fullbacks

I've always been a fan of the Fullback position. I love the slobber-knockers. Guys who know they will get three carries on the year, and five times as many forehead stitches. I don't know if one fits that well in Trestman's offense, but there are three stud FBs this year that would be good draft picks in the 5th or 6th. Jay Prosch - Pretty good athleticism, opens good holes, takes smart angles, understands how to get to the second level JC Copeland - Dude is a beast. Runs through walls. Blows up blockers, and I don't think we'd have to worry about the short yardage plays in near future. Trey Millard - More of a combo FB/TE/HB player, he could fill a dual need for the Bears...the need that Evan Rodriguez was supposed to fill. I like them all, but I think Millard is the best fit and has the most potential.

    ILBs

Can the Bears wait until the 4th round to get a capable ILB this year? There seems to be a lot of names I'd be content with at that point of the draft: Shayne Skov Christian Jones Chris Borland Max Bullough Yawin Smallwood Given the depth at DT and ILB, I'm even more convinced the Bears should target HHCD or Pryor in the first round, then get their DT in the second. The third round can be a BPA situation. And I think one of the names above will be there in the fourth.

    WTF moment

I think it's just a matter of screen resolution. When I view things at work, there are no issues because I'm using a huge monitor. On my laptop at home, however, it's always stretched...like JA when drafting.
