  1. I now hate McClellin and hope he actually gets cut. How does a professional athlete have the same build as me? Ridiculous for a guy who has the money, motivation, and need to do nothing but learn a Playbook and look like a brick shithouse.
  2. Pretty much this. Also, I've watched lots of Bama games since I'm in the area, and I believe he has elite FS range, angles, and intelligence.
  3. I can join, but I barely pay attention to most other teams. I could really speak for the Niners, Titans, and Seahawks well, but most others would be based on prevailing internet opinion.
  4. I could easily see a first round safety starting.
  5. Yeah, I'd actually prefer a FS/DT/DT start since I think there is a lot more depth at DT than FS. This would outstanding: 1. HHCD, FS, Alabama 2. Tuitt, DT, Notre Dame 3. Johnson, DT, LSU
  6. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200000034...ers-trade-block I'd send the Niners a 6th rd pick for him. That dude was/is fast as hell. Great change of pace.
  7. That's exactly what spurred this thought. I didn't want to give it away completely, but I've seen more than one mock where Tuitt falls to the Bears or past them in the 2nd. That would be a no-brainer in my mind, even if the Bears were to grab Jernigan or Donald in the first. He's a stud, and adding him in the second would be a coup.
  8. Lots of mocks have the Bears getting Donald or Jernigan in the first. Most of us are fine with that. But what if there is another guy there in the second. Maybe Hageman or Tuitt? Would you be fine with that? I think I would simultaneously dislike it while being excited about it. It's a definite gamble, but it's one of those gambles that has a decent chance of paying off. You could place bets in multiple places, but sometimes you just have to put your money in one place and let it ride.
  9. I've seen, and done, lots of mocks where Donald gets picked by the Bears in the first, and Tuitt is available in the second. That would be a definite statement by Emery.
  10. This goes back to the debate we had on the board about height. Sure, ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL, if there is a difference and it's speed, then you go with the faster guy. That's obvious. But that's usually not the comparison. Jerry Rice ran a 4.71, and it's an obvious choice to select him over pretty much any other WR in NFL history, many of which were much faster.
  11. Good points. This just reinforces the concept of JA and Lovie being a horrible duo in regards to drafting and developing talent. You'd think at least ONE UDFA would have made a significant, positive impact greater than Rashweed Davis.
  12. At the same time, there is a reason track stars don't automatically transition into the NFL. Football abilities mean a lot. You get a team full of superstar 40-yd dash warriors and they'll get beat all day by a team full of pretty good athletes who are just damn good football players.
  13. I like it better this way. There are more days to enjoy it. Talk about it. Analyze it. When it's all in one day, there isn't as much to digest. Now when the first round is over, I have a flurry of emails from friends talking about which team screwed up, what each team should do the following day, etc. And, on top of that, it's extra money for the networks.
  14. I've seen lots of the Fanspeak mock drafts, and sometimes they seem worthwhile. Other times, however, there are ridiculous scenarios like a top 5 guy slipping to the Bears at 14. I'm just not sure they're reliable enough to be a valuable tool. I did three, with varying approaches, just to see the results. Draft #1 (S First, BPA > need) 14 S HAHA CLINTON-DIX ALABAMA 51 DT DOMINIQUE EASLEY FLORIDA 82 CB LOUCHEIZ PURIFOY FLORIDA 117 DT ANTHONY JOHNSON LSU 156 G JON HALAPIO FLORIDA 183 RB DE'ANTHONY THOMAS OREGON 191 S VINNIE SUNSERI ALABAMA Review: I didn't intend to go so heavy with SEC, but that's how it worked out. I'd like this draft a lot. HHCD would start day 1, and think either Easley or Johnson could thrive. Purifoy likely starts in 2015. Halapio is a monster with upside, could fit well when/if Long moves. DAT was too fast to pass here. Sunseri is a coach's kid who makes smart plays. Draft #2 (DT first, BPA > need) 14 DT AARON DONALD PITTSBURGH 51 DE STEPHON TUITT NOTRE DAME 82 CB STANLEY JEAN-BAPTISTE NEBRASKA 117 RB DRI ARCHER KENT STATE 156 ILB KHAIRI FORTT CALIFORNIA 183 S JONATHAN DOWLING WESTERN KENTUCKY 191 S VINNIE SUNSERI ALABAMA Review: Very different draft. I didn't want to start with Donald then Tuitt, but that's too good to pass up. SJB has great size for a DB. Archer could contribute immediately as a 3rd down guy. Fortt isn't great, but has skills. Dowling is a very interesting prospect at FS - big, rangy, has swagger (and potential character issues). Sunseri - see above. I didn't like taking FS so late, but I tried something different based upon what some of you guys have said. Draft #3 (Athletes) 14 S HAHA CLINTON-DIX ALABAMA 51 G XAVIER SU'A-FILO UCLA 82 LB CHRISTIAN JONES FLORIDA STATE 117 DT ANTHONY JOHNSON LSU 156 CB WALT AIKENS LIBERTY 183 RB DE'ANTHONY THOMAS OREGON 191 DE BEN GARDNER STANFORD Review: HHCD is a given. If Su'a Filo drops this far I will shit. That's a must have at that point. Christian Jones could be the next MLB of the future; he's an athletic freak. Speaking of "Freak," that's actually Anthony Johnson's nickname at LSU. He could be exciting. Walt Aikens has good CB size, and has potential. DAT is a given in an athlete draft. Ben Gardner, well, he looks like Jared Allen, and sounds like Jared Allen. He's my new late-round crush for that reason alone. Not sure which one I like the best.
  15. Yes, I was referring to C...and I completely forgot the Bears just signed DLP. So scratch that.
  16. I wouldn't mind that draft. I wouldn't like it a lot, but it's not bad. Other than Pryor, who appears to be a lock, the other guys all have some questions (whether it be motor, school, fit, etc.). I'm most intrigued by whether or not Smallwood can make the transition to the NFL.
  17. I don't agree that RB is a top 4 need. Our first positions of need are, in no specific order: C, CB, DT, DT, FS, SS
  18. Jernigan, DT, FSU - Fine Bucannon, SS, Wa. St. - Fine Breeland, CB, Clemson - Meh Freeman, RB, FSU - Hate. Street, WR, Pitt - Hate more Brett Smith, QB, Wyoming - Meh Christian Bryant, FS, Ohio St. - Meh

    Backup QB

I prefer the rookie approach for a variety of reasons: 1) Cheaper 2) Doesn't come in with as many built-in problems to fix 3) More prone to accept the backup role and not sulk about it 4) Isn't trying to win a starting job 5) More likely to accept teaching If Trestman is the QB-whisperer that he appears to be, then I hope he drafts one he thinks fits perfect into his plan. Given last year (e.g. Cutler vs McCown), I'd say that type of QB is a smart, football-savvy manager with anticipation, a good (not great) arm, and the ability to read a defense and take what yields the highest success percentage with minimal risk. It's probably why I'm so high on guys like AJ McCarron.

    New Walter draft

ha! I did some copy/paste magic and made him change schools. Don't forget the memorable 2003 Gator flop: Rex Grossman Todd Johnson Ian Scott Tron Lafavor I had friends calling us the Chicago Gators after that draft.
  21. Bingo. Zero sense whatsoever. Coaches, fans, and players from pee-wee to the pros know this, but somehow the guys in charge of the Bears at the time decided it was a good idea.
  22. Agreed. Even if things don't matter, I'd like to see a win against the Eagles.
  23. If you ever stopped blowing JA and Lovie long enough you'd realize that while actively criticizing just about everything they did over the course of the last decade or so basically contradicts most of what you say. You can't say, "I never thought they used Wolfe correctly" or other multiple criticisms while simultaneously dropping to your knees and saying "No fan can do what these guys are doing!" The simple fact that you only side with "some of the decisions management has made" kind of negates the other nonsense you spout. But it is funny that you're so adamant about hating me, and siding with JA, because his draft pedigree speaks volumes. http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-bears-hu...-draft-history/ It's idiotic to think that most diehard Bears fans, who questioned too many of JA's picks, couldn't do as well as that. It's atrocious. There is very little chance most on this board would have done as poorly. The team's landscape would change from year to year based on performance and FAs, but each year we all had just as good of a shot as JA did considering his success percentage. I was going to go into considerable detail, but your dumb ass isn't worth it. If I were in charge, the Bears would have had Randy Moss and Culpepper in 1998 & 1999, and definitely wouldn't have completely sacrificed a solid defense for years by ignoring the OL.

    New Walter draft

Me too. He's a tackling machine, takes good angles, is smart, strong at the point of attack. He'd be a great pick as a MLB prospect if the staff doesn't feel that Bostic is the guy to fill that role.
  25. Are you saying that the coaches were wrong in their usage of Wolfe? And by connection, the majority of this board was correct that he was being misused? BTW - It doesn't take a genius to do a search on this board to find several posts that basically say Wolfe was correctly used to the level of his abilities, and in no way was underused or misused. And for that matter, simply blowing the coaching staff in general.
