  1. And yet there continue to be absolutely horrible teams in the NFL year in and year out. Never mind the copious scrimmages, practices, tape, and measurements, and people like Ryan Leaf still get drafted. They may know more, but they sure as hell don't do much with all that knowledge. I'm sorry but I'm just not going to blindly agree with the moves this staff makes - I've seen too many horrible moves to believe they are so all-knowing. Particularly from a noob GM and a NFL HC who admittedly doesn't know the NFL landscape as well as other GMs. There is a reason there saying "Can't see the forest for the trees" exists.
  2. If that's the case, then I hope: 1) Cooper or Warmack is there in the first, and they take the starting RG job 2) Carimi is given a legit chance at RT (doesn't appear as such) and beats out Webb for the RT job What it already tells us, however, is the Bears will be going left a lot more than right.
  3. If it's all based on film, then Webb shouldn't be the default RT.
  4. I obviously like this one a lot better. I'm still not a big fan of Brown, but that first four sets up quite nicely.
  5. It's definitely because of the draft. When he came out a lot of the mocks had the Bears taking him. The reason why? Oher was already gone. Even then everyone knew the Bears needed OL help.
  6. And I hope almost the exact opposite. I hope Carimi is actually given a chance at RT, beats out Webb, and Webb becomes the swing tackle. Then the Bears can draft Cooper or Warmack if either fall, and the OL is immediately younger and improved: Bushrod - rookie - Garza - Slauson - Carimi.
  7. I also hate this idea. Webb must be the best damn practice player in the world.
  8. Are you at the minicamp?

    Forte on the OL

Good point. I intended to mention that he threw the previous play caller (Tice) under the bus as well.
  10. I dislike any draft that starts off with Arthur Brown. I just don't think he's a 1st rounder.
  11. Worst case scenario, you're right. If Cooper, Warmack, and Ogletree are gone, it definitely changes things up. I do not want Brown in the first.
  12. I'm not terribly concerned. He's incredibly fast for his size, and hopefully a legit OL coach not named Tice will help him improve technique. I saw him stonewall Mingo, so I know he has the potential. And to be quite honest, dude is a 10 out of 10 in the run game. If the Bears are able to road-grade over defenses with the running game (like Bama), I'm sure the offense will be able to do pretty much what they want (like Bama).
  13. I'm thinking its a typo, and it's really Matt Millen. Either way, guaranteed moron.
  14. That's basically why I said Ogletree has the best chance to start aside from Fluker. He's a very talented player in terms of raw, physical ability.
  15. And everyone thought he would be. You miss all the shots you don't take, but that doesn't mean you stop shooting. And it certainly doesn't mean you ignore the biggest team need because of a missed draft pick by a previous regime.
  16. A TE in the first would be horrible, and it would not create a dynamic passing attack because Cutler won't be able to use all the weapons if he's running for his life...like every year since he's been in Chicago. How many damn years does this concept have to be proven?!?!?!

    Forte on the OL

I was reading between the lines, something he was unable to do when providing a quote...or when trying to rush up the middle. He didn't say the words, but that's what he obviously meant.
  18. I'm not totally against the idea, especially if the draft Fluker. But invites don't always equate to draft picks. These GMs, for all their failures, are usually decent at misdirection. Aside from that, I'm hoping Carimi shows the potential for which he was drafted: RT. I'd rather fill an OG need than an OT need.
  19. He tells us what we already knew...they sucked. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...rs-history.html
  20. Fluker. Easy. He starts immediately at RT. The rest can be sorted out. Out of the others, Eifert's effect would be the most insignificant, Williams would be rotational, and Trufant would be a nickel at best. The only other guy who could crack the starting lineup would probably be Ogletree...and that would be a minor stretch considering James Anderson and DJ Williams (I think Ogletree could beat out Anderson). It's simple. You draft starters in the first round. Fluker is the only guy from the only position listed above who is a day one starter.
  21. Only 2 OGs on that big list...but where did the list come from? At the very least there are three great prospects in Warmack, Cooper, and Warford. If neither of the first two are there when the Bears draft in the first, I don't see any reason why they won't draft an OG in the second. Why does that list lead you to believe what you believe? The two are nearly non-connected. This may also interest you...

    Any ideas who?

I hope it IS Te'o, and it drops his stock, and it places him firmly in the Bears sites in the second round.

    Any ideas who?

So would that make it one person, and therefore make the report inaccurate?
  24. It was probably a tie between him and Lance Louis. But that's still not saying much considering the link by scs where Garza's called on the of the worst in the league. To put it another way, the guy who might have been the Bears best OLineman is considered one of the worst in the league. And yet people want to draft everywhere else.
  25. The simple fact is, absolutely nobody, including the talking heads, the analysts, the front office people around the league, the writers for various websites, thinks there is a weaker position group on this team than OL. Similar thoughts are there in regards to the offense being better than the defense. It's unheard of to even fathom that concept in Chicago. Therefore, offense should get more attention than defense. If you were to spread it over the draft, however, it's understandable if someone drafts D first for the Bears, and fills in later with O. Maybe even with the first two picks if things work out in an odd way. In this scenario, however, where the Bears fictitiously end up with three 2nd rounders, it's absolutely indefensible to go Defense three times in a row. The only reason you think it's feasible is because your Lovie Tice alter ego still has you convinced Webb and/or Brown is a solid starter in this league, one with upside and talent comparable to Bushrod. Aside from you, Lovie, Tice, I'm guessing some people at PFF, and maybe Webb's family, there isn't much support for that concept. Currently there are only TWO good starters on the OL (forgot Slausson), and he was brought in via free agency. To know that and still pick three defensive players with three second round picks is ridiculous unless there was a very peculiar draft where teams were climbing each over one another for all the OL talent just before the Bears drafted. Oh, and BTW, Slausson is supposed to be a replacement for Lance Louis at RG. If that's so, it pretty much eliminates the whole "Carimi at RG"-thing. --edited to include Slausson
