  1. It's not about the consistency. It's about the level of consistency and abilities. Nobody is consistent all the time, but some are more consistent than others. I'm sure both Webb and Bushrod expect to succeed every play, every game. So trying to glean some PFF comparison because Bushrod says he's inconsistent is just as incomplete as the PFF stats. Maybe Bushrod is just thinking of one play each game? Maybe it's one series each game? Maybe he'd like those to be more consistent.
  2. I get it, but Chicago is not New England. And until Chicago starts to embrace the concept of offense, I just don't see how this dream scenario comes to fruition. I hope it does. And I hope Bennett/ERod turns into Gronk/Hernandez. I've just been a Chicago fan too long to believe it's going to happen.
  3. Regardless of whether it's Brown or Ogletree, neither of them make me jump off the couch like when Urlacher came out. I'd be disappointed if either were drafted at 20. If OG is also picked up in FA, and our LBs are resigned, I think you have to go for the other OG spot. You can't take a chance on Louis being healthy and good since he was only decent when he was healthy. If the OGs are gone, you have to go BPA.

I guess it comes down to the highs and the lows. It's like weather. Sure, Tennessee (i.e. Bushrod) gets hot and cold, but the heat is really good while bearable, and the winters barely provide snow. Meanwhile, Iowa (i.e. Webb) has hot and cold, but the hot only happens a month or so a year, and the cold days are unbearable. Inconsistency still requires a floor and a ceiling, and both are higher for Bushrod.

I read it, but it's entirely based on PFF's stats, which I believe to be flawed. No way in hell Bushrod is comparable to Webb. Not to mention what Brian reiterated above.

Same?! SAME?! C'mon man, gimme a break. You've been making the argument based off of the PFF stats. It's not a surprise that PFF says the same thing. But to insinuate the players are the same is just ridiculous. Webb has never even garnered a sniff for an all-star vote. Webb is not as good as Bushrod, no matter what PFF says. If Webb were a free agent teams would be able to sign him for league minimum and a box of Samoa Girl Scout cookies. There is no real comparison other than they both played the same position. It's just nonsense. If it were true, then what do you make of the fact the Bears signed him? Doesn't that fly in the face of Emery's supposed love of PFF? I mean, why sign a guy that sucked like Webb? Sorry, bro, it just doesn't make sense, and it calls into question the methodology used by PFF when compiling their stats.

    Rolando McClain

A 7th round draft pick is a bargaining chip I'd gladly toss away to get a first round talent. If he screws his head on straight, he could be an incredible steal. If not, it's still only a 7th rounder.

    Rolando McClain

I started this thread with the thought of whether a trade would be better. Giving up a 7th for him is relatively risk-free. And if you wait for him to hit FA then you might not get him because a team might outbid you. As long as there are no salary cap issues, a 7th rounder for him would be a great idea.
  9. Bingo! Lovie being gone will make this team better. Same goes for Tice. As for the list above, don't forget to include players signed as well. Some of those teams (i.e. Browns) also picked players up.
  10. The to do list seems simple right now: -If they think the winner between Webb & Carimi at RT is sufficient: Do not hesitate to draft Cooper if he's there at 20. -If they are seriously considering moving Carimi to OG: Draft Fluker if he's there at 20.
  11. I heard a rumor the other day from a reliable source that the Raiders would be willing to part with Rolando McClain for a very insignificant amount in trade. Possibly a 6th or 7th round draft pick. And that's IF he doesn't get released. Young, crazy talented, maybe a bit stupid, definitely a bit of a trouble maker, but a possibly cheap solution for the MLB situation in Chicago. For all capologists: What would he count against the cap if he were traded to the Bears?

Or it means PFF's stats are flawed as hell, and they can collectively kiss me square on the butthole. Sidestep...pssh. That's ridiculous. If it was a sidestep, there would have at least been hints of Jamarcus Webb being considered decent to good, or maybe even a single guy, other than scs, saying something about Webb getting Pro Bowl buzz. The more likely reality: Bushrod is better because of having Brees as a QB, but even without Brees as a QB he's significantly better than Webb.
  13. LOL. "In the fouth round, the Bears select, Super Fast Pot Head, cornerback, LSU."
  14. Stone Hands was already taken by Dez White. Let's call him Kellen "Brick Hands" Davis. Either way...HE GONE!
  15. The act makes me like him more. The video makes me like him less. The other videos of him you can see on youtube give me a Jamarcus Webb vibe.
  16. I hate these comments. You're right: It doesn't matter what we think because our opinions hold no sway with the team. But the "they are in a better position to judge"-comment is nonsense. If it were accurate, the coaches wouldn't get fired as regularly as they do, teams wouldn't such as regularly as they do, and it would be legal for an offensive coordinator position to file a restraining order against Mike Tice. Just because these dudes are where they are doesn't mean our opinions and thoughts aren't just as valid, if not better. I still say if this board were collectively running the Bears over the past ten years we would have been significantly better.
  17. I guess I'm n the vast minority here. It means Rodriguez is sort of wasted. On top of that I'm not completely sold on the guy. One huge year. That's it. Why didn't he produce with the cowboys? If he's that good you'd think he would have got more PT/stats even though Witten was there.
  18. It's just hope on my part. I want to see Webb riding pine all year because that would mean our 1st rounder panned out and lived up to his talent. Imagine that for a moment. What if Carimi figured it out? That's two bookends for a while. Cutler smiles.
  19. Best case scenario: Carimi starts at RT. His run blocking is far superior to Webb's, and it's not like Webb was some sort of superstar at pass blocking. If Carimi improves even slightly, he's better than Webb. If he heals and improves, it's not close.
  20. SIT YOUR BUTT DOWN WEBB! Yes!!!!!!

    Urlacher Gone?

He wasn't bad in 2012. He was actually getting better as the season progressed. I believe he still has gas left in the tank, and part of the reason his stats were down was the emergence of the DL created QB pressures but also allowed more blockers to reach the second level. He's certainly not the guy who dominated the "crown their asses"-Arizona game, but he's also not "bad."
  22. That would be unreal. Bring the paramedics to my house.
