  1. Your anti-Cutler slip is showing. That is an NFL route completed every game. If Davis doesn't get bumped - very weakly - off his route, that's in a window after one defender and before another. If Davis doesn't get lightly bumped out of the way, he's in a perfect position to shield the defender for the catch in the window.
  2. As you'd expect, I don't think it's picking nits. Run-blocking was very bad. Pass-blocking was good. This is unsatisfactory in a game with such muddy, rainy, slippery conditions. With a slippery surface the defense is at a distinct disadvantage, and the Bears couldn't capitalize because the OL almost never opened a hole. And the pass blocking was good more because of the same slippery surface, and less because of their stellar performance.
  3. I agree 100%. His priorities ARE in the right place. It's faith, family, football, in that order. But look at it from the Bears' business perspective. And he probably would forfeit a game check without blinking, which is why it would be the right thing to do for both sides. It isn't like the dude needs the money to support the new kid.
  4. I know it's not. That's why I said if he misses a game he should be fined the game check. That implies he has the option to miss a day/game, a privilege the military does not have. Or maybe he should volunteer a game check for not actually playing for his money? How is what I suggest any different from any other job? If your employer says, "Be there on Monday. It's an incredibly important day for us. Not having you there will negatively affect the company." A company that can't rely on its employees to be there when it most matters is a company that will have problems. Negative counseling has come from much less. The difference, of course, is that Tillman only has to show up for work 16 days a year. Sure, he has to train, workout, study, etc., but he only has to be at work 16 days a year. It's a relatively moot point now since he said he was going to play, but at what point does the tide turn for some of you? Week 1: "Sorry, but my baby is going to be born." Week 6: "Sorry, but my other kid is having their most special birthday party ever." Week 9: "Sorry, but my aunt is going in for surgery and moral support is necessary." Week 16: "Sorry, my best friend had a death in the family; I need to be there for him." What then? I know it's an unlikely hypothetical, but it's still directly tied to the main point.
  5. This would be a difficult pill to swallow. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown...00408--nfl.html I agree with the quote in the article. This guys gets paid millions to be available on 16 days a year. If he is out one of those games because of something non-football related, I think he should be fined a game check. I know it sounds harsh, but he's being paid to play the game. He's not being paid to play it unless, ya know, he's got other stuff going on.
  6. My thing is, if they are going to ignore the OL, then just go all out and attack the entire time. Shove Rodriguez into the game and exploit the mismatches. Sure, you're QB will get beat to hell, but at least it will justify the draft pick. Then again, that would be the Martz route and just about everyone except me hated it. Instead it just looks like a wasted pick. The Bears appear to be a team with an identity crisis. Well, on offense anyway. The offensive picks don't reflect onto the field. The defense, however, leaves no doubt. Lovie drafts players that fit his defense, and while they've been overall mediocre during his entire tenure, they are playing outstanding right now.
  7. Classic. The Bears draft a pass-catching TE with nearly no blocking skills, and whenever he's in the game he has to stay in and help the OL because they suck so bad. Meanwhile, the Bears have a pass-blocking TE with nearly no receiving skills (hint: Spaeth), and he's sent out on pass routes (albeit, not many, but more than Rodriguez). The better solution would have been to just draft OL and send out Davis or Spaeth on the minimal passing routes.
  8. Well, it's pretty clear they weren't going to give Williams a fair shot at LT. So, actually they would have only had 1 first rounder there, and a 7th round guy who sucked the previous season, and every season he's been lucky enough to play in the NFL.
  9. Could it be that the dude was a LT for four years in college and the coaching staff selected him to be a RT? I mean, he is virtually a rookie this year because of last year's injury, and he's being asked to play the right side instead of the left, which really doesn't make sense since he should have been selected as a replacement for that scrub Webb. He's a first round talent from an OL factory. I have faith he'll turn it around.
  10. I don't live too far away, and almost went, but the prices got too ridiculous too fast. I'm not paying $125-$150 for an upper-level seat, and then adding parking/food/gas into the mix.
  11. I wouldn't have been upset, because that would have meant Carimi a guaranteed move to LT, and it would have signalled the end to the failed Webb experiment.
  12. Me too. But I think you can do something that's in the middle of all that. You can pull the starting offensive players, the skill players anyway, and still continue to call the same aggressive game plan on offense AND defense. But that's not Lovie's style. Instead he went vanilla on O and D, got nearly nothing from the O, allowed the Titans to score a cheap TD, and while the game was dominating - so much so people at work feel compelled to come talk to me about it - there is still a little bit from many of us that wants more than the beating; we want the kill.
  13. I haven't been to a game this year, and that makes it nearly impossible to see multiple receivers, but is Cutler simply targeting Marshall and nobody else? Or are the other receivers just never open?
  14. It's not an insult if it's true. If you honestly thought Cutler held the ball too long on that play - which is exactly what your post said and implied - then it's either an ignorant or uninformed post. Nobody watching that objectively can think Cutler held the ball too long. He dropped back and the defender was already through the hole because of the missed assignment. If you meant it as a general statement, then maybe it's just convenient that you worded it poorly and just so happened to post it immediately after Cutler got sacked.
  15. Oh good Lord, you have to be shitting me. That was an immediate slip through the OL by the defender. Cutler did not hold on to that too long. You're being absolutely ridiculous, or have your game on slow-motion. Also, for the record, that sack looks more on Rachal than Webb. Webb was supposed to go outside, but Rachal looks like he made the wrong read.
  16. Webb. Good thing the Bears don't need offense right now.
  17. HAHAHAHAHA! WHO NEEDS OFFENSE!!!???
  18. My best friend is a Niners fan. He's STILL bitter about it. Just because I sympathize doesn't mean I want to empathize.
  19. This game is better than some sex I've had. LOL
  20. WHOOOOOOO NEEEEEEDS ANNNN OOOOOOFFFFEEEENSE?!!!!!
  21. I knew I should have coughed up a couple hundred dollars and went to this game.
  22. Tillman? That was UBERLACHER!
  23. WHO NEEDS FREAKING OFFENSE!!!!!!
  24. EXACTLY what I was thinking. It's 14-2, time for Lovie to start calling the deep cover-2 and the prevent. Lo and behold, easy pass over the middle.
